I was clearing up some space on my PVR.

Annie Hall (1977):  This critically acclaimed romantic comedy won four Academy Awards (including beating Star Wars for Best Picture).  I think these accolades undeserved.  The characters were unlikeable, the relationship uninteresting, and the plot practically nonexistent.
The overall effect was that of a badly-paced, overlength Seinfeld episode, with most of the comedy edited out.  Allen's one-liners consistently failed to amuse; although he tries to present himself as an intellectual, he comes across as more pretentious than anything else.  (There's more insight into the human condition in the opening narration of a certain Monogatari episode than in this whole movie).
Perhaps if I stretch it, I could try to appreciate this as some sort of self-parody (a movie that mocks pretentiousness).  But given how tedious it was as a whole, I think that would be giving it too much credit.
The breaking of the fourth wall was an interesting device, and admittedly done effectively here...and perhaps if I wasn't so horribly bored I might have appreciated it better.

The H-Man (1958): This is a Japanese monster film by the same production team as Godzilla.  H-bomb testing creates a liquid monster which consumes people, leaving nothing behind but their clothes  (it occasionally assumes vaguely humanoid form, hence the "-Man").  Although there are some creepy moments, this isn't at the same level as Godzilla, and doesn't offer enough to make it recommendable.  However, it easily outclasses Annie Hall for entertainment value.

I spent something like 8 hours last night putting mods on (and then debugging) Morrowind.  I don't even really like the Elder Scrolls but I got the crazy eyes to see what all I could improve about it and then all of the sudden it was 5 am.

The truest Elder Scrolls experience is spending 10 hours researching all the best mods, 2 hours installing them, 100 hours debugging and figuring out the load order, then playing 5 minutes and getting bored.

Huh, Thraja survived the round. Unfortunately, I basically missed all but one set of multipliers so I barely made any Feathers last round anyways. I'm also not liking the fact that every match I've fought thus far has pitted me against at least one Bowlyn, if not two (honestly, I'd take her over a team of Reds versus a Reinhardt/Azura combo any day of the week).

At least I've been cleaning up the monthly quests, and will probably circle around to clowning Berkut sooner or later.

Sucks to not have gotten any victory feathers yet, but it's nice to be out of Faye's team since aside from her being an awful character, she's also a god awful unit and I had a hard time winning matches using both her and some trash unit sent to me . Had to completely rely on the friends list characters pretty much.

Anyway I'm on Team Sigurd for the last stretch. I have his HM maxed already but I think I'll actually support a character I like for once over feather mercing.

Playing it now, still in first stratum.

Running Matsuro, Dragoon, Mage (whatever the official name is), Shaman and the Rover.

I have the Shaman for healing but the Rover’s hound summon is doing most of the healing! Still, buffs are nice. So I have no way to really do binds oe ailments with this current party, hope that doesn’t cause issues too soon...

Standard EO fare so far, although the racial skills including the traditional harvest/chop/gather is nice so you don’t feel like you are “wasting” points...

Been jamming a lot on my bass during this snowy Saturday and in less than a day, I've already made more progress on my new musical project than I have in weeks.  Okay, it helps that I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel regarding a ton of things happening in my life and I actually had some time to sit down and play.

Being a bassist has been a part of my identity for most of my life and I simply love playing bass.  And most people I meet perceive me as someone who'd be a bass player.  However, a few years ago when I was rehearsing with Pool of Thorns for a gig, someone in the band told me I'd make a better guitar player than a bass player.  This struck me totally out of left field and I can't figure out why.  I've never played guitar before, the few times I picked one up just felt strange to me (guitars feel like fragile little twigs that make my fingers feel all smushed up) and I've never once perceived myself as a guitar player.  Even in my musical history, I was primarily a bass clef instrumentalist: baritone horn in the school band and then took bass lessons privately.  Sure, I'd kinda like to be able to play keyboards so I can compose music better (and my bass teacher did teach me to read both bass and treble clef) but in my heart and soul I am a bassist and the other instrument I'd most want to learn to play is the drums.

The Soundroom / Holiday music thread (tis the season)

Xmas/Holiday music.  Some people love it.  Some people hate it.  So let's spread some holiday musical cheer with our favorite yule-time music.

I was one of the Xmas music haters until my friend Ray did a "Punk Rock Xmas" compilation of wild, weird, wacky, and out there Xmas music.  Here are some of the piece from his compilation that I really like:

"Christmas in Las Vegas" by Richard Cheese https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v0nZ1igeAsE

"The Season's Upon Us" by Dropkick Murphys (lyrics kinda NSFW) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gxYZRAowdzc

"Christmas Party" by Dead Milkmen https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4dROKw4maA8

"Happy New Year" by Spike Jones and the City Slickers https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_4BrQeTFKo

"Winter Wonderland" by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx09UOnQbBQ

"The Night Santa Went Crazy" by Weird Al https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0FJU4GrXztE

"Oi to the World" by The Vandals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKk-2Pu2N8g

"My Mother Gave Me a Gun for Christmas" by The Pork Dukes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AE4mg88GhHc (That song amuses me, because the bridge where he sings about a Coca Cola ICBM reminds me of the Pepsi missiles in Project A-Ko)

"Xmas has been X'd" by NOFX https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NWSYbVqmDGU

"Credit Crunch Christmas" by Toy Dolls https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nhRfaSebKsI

"Homo Christmas" by Pansy Division (This one is a VERY NSFW song, but hilarious): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QoJS_95HWGI

"O Come, O Come Emmanuel" by Bad Religion https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLCxbXfyXCo

I'm starting to like the fan interpretation of this VG.

On the left side we have: two obsessed girls ready to murder eachother in the name of their object of obsession, whoever wins, we all lose.

And on the right: just two guys who love their wife, and it's all wholesome and sweet.

Anyway, seals talk. I have a few maxed right now:
- Spd +3 for Takumi. Even with a Brave Bow he has 39 spd without hones/drives/ally support/whatever. He quads everything.
- Brash Assault, which is passed around by units that have desperation but are not quite speedy enough to double everything. Soren used it together with Gronnblade before I got his Gronnraven skillset together. It was the closest I could get to his PoR/RD skills.
- Distant Def is amazing. Soren currently uses it to deal with all those BLyns and Reinhardts.
- Close Def is cool too. My dragons and other tanky units pass it around.
- Hone Speed is really useful. It's usually in the hands of whoever is the Arena bonus unit.
