I don't see role crafting game sticking around as a genre label...seems to similar to role playing for WAAAY too small a subcategory of game. I'd almost favor calling games like that "minecraftian" or something, sort of like calling the subset of sidescrolling action adventure games "metroidvanias". Personal opinion, don't mind it too much, I'm probably wrong anyway.
There aren't a whole lot of RCGs ATM, but the list has been growing almost as fast as FPP games ^_6 Most of them are just Minecraft Knock-Offs, but there are some great unique ones though! ^_6 I see what ure gettin at though, it is quite a small selection to consider a genre right now, but I also see the potential of them and what they can become! ^_6

Welcome to the board, bathrooms are down the hall and to your right. Lights out never.
Aww crap, what was the door to the left?? :p Cleanup on isle 2! Lol :p ^_6

this is not how to handle a first contact mission guys
Motherfucker I watched Mars Attacks, I know what happens when they make weird faces and laugh too much!

I hated Mars Attacks when I was younger because the aliens turned people into skeletons and I was like really afraid of skeletons. Or well less afraid of skeletons, more that I thought they were really gross and served as an uncomfortable reminder of the frailty of human life. I'm okay with Undertale though. It's less skeletons per se, especially living skeletons, but more people turning into skeletons.

oh but like legits the pogo guys from Earthbound with the skeleton lyrcasuits made me kind of uneasy even when I was a kid. And that was just a costume!

but oh man, the skeletons on the Magic Carpet 2 menu screen were kind of too much for me. Also that bit in the Mechwarrior 2 intro where the one mech steps on on a human skull. Or that one movie where the guy's riding the roller coast after he gets kicked out of someone's death office and lands in a pile of skulls. idk what movie that was. I thought it was that one weird live action Mario Bros. movie but I kind of doubt it.

anyway I know some people like skeletons a lot and I respect that because we all have our own opinions and that's what makes life's rich pageant beautiful but I TELL YOU WHAT BROTHER, THAT JUST AIN'T FOR ME.

**

Seriously though, spent a good chunk of the evening sticking keyboard controls into an old game that didn't otherwise support them, and also started coding some experimental kanji dictionary thing (except JDict's site's down so that's on hold). Productivity is nice!
I used to be goth and maaan you'da hated my skull collection, lol :p

Those of you who like Music/Rhythm games or are just having trouble understanding my introduction here:

http://www.rpgfan.com/boards/index.php?topic=8301.18495

Check out Amplitude: A Cult Classic Reborn for PS3/PS4! ^_6

www.Amplitude-Game.com

From the makers of the Rock Band series and the first few Guitar Hero games comes a musical sci-fi experience unlike any other! ^_6 Delve deep into the mind of patient Mari who's trapped in a coma and use your Nano-Blaster to blast away the crystals that are spreading throughout her brain to wake her from her eternal slumber! ^_6 Featuring "Cryptique 1-2" by Danny Baranowsky (from the hit RPG Music/Rhythm Game, Crypt of the Necrodancer!)

For those of you who have never heard of the FreQuency/Amplitude series, the original games were for PS2, FreQuency was released 2001:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frequency_(video_game)

And Amplitude (Original) was released 2003:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amplitude_(video_game)

Both before Rock Band or Guitar Hero, and both far ahead of their times, with more features than Guitar Hero and the entire Rock Band series! ^_6 If you like Music/Rhythm games, wanna try a style of game you've never seen before, or just wanna check it out cause of Crypt of the Necrodancer song, I highly recommend the FreQuency/Amplitude series! ^_6

You're killing me. I don't think I can deal with this in the long term.
Eh, you'll come to WUB me! :p

What's a Role-Crafting Game? Genuinely curious. I always feel old when I see acronyms for genres I've never heard of, like "Back in my day we only had ten different game genres and none of these 'shooters with RPG elements' things."
Role-Crafting Games are all these "Build-Your-Own Game" games, ranging from the block-building games like Minecraft, Castleminer, Murder Miners, Etc. to the more advanced building games like Garry's Mod! ;)

I see! thanks for enlightening me. I guess that means I can call Minecraft something more specific than 'Adventure' (or platform even, I guess, sort of) now.
Np, being a fairly newly labeled genre, a lot of people tend to ask that :p The 1st game I ever seen use that genre name/acronym was Mythruna! ^_6

Why are you speaking like that.
That's how I always talk in writing :p Even in pencil/pen, idk it's just my "signiture" way of speaking, like using different fonts, or putting hearts instead of dots above "i"s, y'know?? :p ^_6

I come in Peace! :p ^_6
Well, all in good fun.

It's an odd way to introduce yourself to be sure, and I think I'd appreciate a less forced style in the future. But he seems nice enough so, let's see what the future holds.
Lol, thanx :p The Future is Bright and the Force is strong with this one! :p Haha! ^_6 (see what I did there?? :p)

Hi, I'm the X to the E-R-Q, XERQ GRANITE! ^_6 I love all genres of video games except for Sports or anything that's too realistic (cause video games aren't made for realism, they're made to do fun things you can't do IRL! :p ^_6) My favorite video game genres are Music/Rhythm, FPP (First-Person Puzzle), and RCG (Role-Crafting Games), but of course I'm also a huge RPG fan (why else would I be here, lol :p) The first RPG I've ever played was Dragon Warrior (Dragon Quest) and I'm still a huge fan of the series to this day! ^_6 My favorite RPG series is the Fallout series, and IMO Bethesda has been perfecting the RPG genre! ^_6 I mainly signed up to the RPGFan Forums to get ahold of Willy Elektrix about his game Ramble Planet, but I'll try to be as active as I can, I'm just really busy most of the time, I'm a Comedy/Dubstep artist who's music has been put on hold for a while because I need new equipment, so I've been working hard to get what I need to continue making my songs, plus I'm a Social Media Advertiser for my friend's hydrographic business, Avid Hydrodipping, and for my favorite Music/Rhythm game series FreQuency/Amplitude from Harmonix Music Systems, and I'm the computer tech for the local gas station, so I usually have my hands tied, but I'll post when I can! :p ^_6 If ya wanna git down on some games with me, feel free to send me a friend reQuest on Steam and/or PSN:

XERQ_GRANITE (same GamerTag on both :p)

Be sure to send a msg saying that you found me here and I'll GLaDly accept! ^_6 WUB WUB!
