Single-Player RPGs / Re: Octopath Traveler
« on: July 15, 2018, 03:31:58 PM »
I'm going with my gut on this and skipping.
I might start Trails in the sky 1.
I was playing that before jumping to octopath. Octopath is vastly more fun, but tits may have better story so far....I'm too early to call it yet. I only have primrose and olberic, both have coolish story starts but idk where they'll go to.

Finally started last night after several hiccups along the way. Picked Primrose because she's hot....damn her story is fucked up. So far my only complaint is the annoying battle dialogue. She must have said "I am ready" about 200 times last night. Every friggin round she wasn't debilitated or low health she said it, and let's be fair it's not often either of those are likely. Minor grievance really. I don't dislike the graphical style, but considering the types of characters so far a part of me really wishes this had been done in a more contemporary 3d style. I mean I just got Olberic and he's supposed to be some hulking knight....and he's the same size as Primrose. It takes away from the feel a little bit. Also the voice acting thus far is pretty on point, but I've never been a fan of the logic of having a voice say something like "Um" but the dialogue clearly states a long worded question. Always found that lazy or silly. Nothing to shit on the game about specifically, as the gameplay so far has been pretty fantastic. The combat is fairly interesting while being simple, and much like Aeolus, I find myself abusing the bewildering dance for jp and exp bonuses. I don't think this will be my favorite rpg, but it's pretty damn good so far.

I think I need to keep off the Discord and this site until I either get this game or everyone is done with it...  T____T

I have the cash for a Switch right now, but.... oy.
Goosey means there's a spoiler chat, no one is talking about it elsewhere.

My condolences Annubis. I know it means little, but it's the best I can offer.

First up, just to be fair, you necro'd an Ys 8 topic for Ys 7. I mean you necro bump'd anyway, what's a few extra years? Just bustin chops, but yeah...i don't think anyone actually minds a necrobump, and if they do they're probably the same sticklers who get upset when you don't capitalize proper names in casual conversations.

As for the question, I don't recall the A.I. in Ys 7 being all that impressive. Nothing ever fights at the speed you'll be swinging and dodging at so don't expect your lesser a.i. compatriots to ever hold a candle to you. Same for the later party-based Ys entries, though in 8 I'll admit that the a.i. at least does put work out there. It's just that you move so quickly generally that they don't have much of a chance to keep up with you.

Well, the fact that it brings the necro'd topic back up to the front of the topic list helps to say we will see it, and god that was ages ago. I still remember Parn screaming target the fucking bomb.

Gud tiems.

One of these is the wire pair I'm looking for.  One of these is for the downstairs phone.  One of these turns on the furnace.  One will make the doorbell transformer explode.
All four pair have the same colour and gauge.

Get a line tracer and some white tape, then remember that someday, someone else will have to trace those same wires and try to make your taped marks readable.

Great Axe's have a special place in my heart for the sheer mayhem they can cause, but I've always had a soft spot for suikoden's 2 main protag and his tonfa. I personally can't recall a game outside of nioh atm where those are used by the main protag.

Skies of Arcadia, with bonus points for also being a Cutlass.
I mean he wields them SOMEWHAT like tonfa, but they are just cutlasses. Not really sure what they were aiming for when they made his weapons work that way but yeah....

Greataxes, greatswords, and gloves/barehanded. The first 2 are more for impressive numbers so I like them in turn based games or games that don't require a lot of input for attacks, while gloves generally have awesome combo potential and speed while still allowing for stupidly impressive damage. Also barehanded options sometimes allow for countering which I like using when possible.

There will not be another final fantasy. IF anything it will be ff 13 -4 lol, or ff 15-2 i highly doubt we will see ff 16 anytime before a persona 6
Well considering it took how many years for a sequel to persona 4....yeah it's a crapshoot either way.

I feel it also needs more then 1 summon to be a final fantasy. was very funny how ff 15 only had ramuh that was it lol. had shiva and titan as well. Supposedly leviathan too but I never got her to appear.

I'm glad people are enjoying it, but God of War has never been my thing, and none of the videos actually looked enjoyable. I prefer my hack 'n' slash games to be faster-paced and combo-focused, and that seems to have been downplayed far more than even the PS2 does make me want to try God of War III, though...
I mean I only played GoW 1 for a short stint as a teen, wasn't fond of it. That being said, this game feels more skillful in the action department. Parrying and timed evasions are you friend, and you can't just go all willy nilly with crazy attacks. I'm almost considering saying it's similar to dark souls in terms of combat precision, but that's a stretch at it's best. Not gonna lie, this is easily the game to beat this year imo.

Holy hell this game is astoundingly pretty. Like amazingly so. Also it's really a great game overall. They make Kratos seem so much more fleshed out as a character. Also should mention it's pretty heavy on rpg elements, but I put it here since Zno onr thinks of rpgs when they see God of War.

Anyone playing this besides me?

You have given me heart, Lian.  I'll play it after NNK2 after all, according to plan!
But if you wait til part 3 is announced, you can play other games meanwhile!

Yeah they have plenty to eat.

However you were only able to carry 100lbs back to the wagon.
I mean....have you ever tried to eat 100lbs of meat? That's like an easy month of food for 1 person, including snacking.

You needn't worry. Most of it will wash away the next time they try to ford a river.
Better than dying to dysentary I guess...
