Single-Player RPGs / Re: Horizon Zero Dawn

it is going to take a monumental effort.

There is no video game in the last 10 years whose soundtrack is as "monumental" as Nier Automata's.  That's the point.  To me this was similar to something like HORIZON ZERO DAWN (on topic) beating Persona 5 over on horizonzerodawn.com's GOTY Awards.  It was a sham.

There's "Great", and then there's "Once In A Lifetime", and it is always a shame when the latter is overlooked.
As much as I love Automata, I still prefer the 1st Nier's soundtrack.

Back on topic, Zero Horizon got hosed on best Graphics *runs away*

A large portion of the pushback against P5 was it winning Best Music over Nier Automata, which I compared to Avengers Infinity War winning a hypothetical Best Picture over Schindler's List.  An inexcusable decision by both editors and fans alike.

Movies =/= Music =/= games, so your comparison is lost on me. However...I do want to say that I'd be fine with such a thing, if only because Marvel movies thus far have been genuine pieces of entertainment, whereas Schindler's List is not something I ever want to see again in my life time - Which is the point, perhaps, since it's depicting a historical event that most would agree should be remembered, but not repeated. Still, if I was giving out a film award, I'd give it to the one I'd happily pop into the Blu-Ray player on a lazy Sunday Afternoon, the one that proves to be endlessly entertaining.

But I guess I just don't understand the point of awards. The only reason I read the RPG Fan awards is simply due to the fact that I've interacted with a lot of the staff here, so I'm more keenly aware of everyone's tastes and histories with gaming. Everyone writes more candidly in the awards blurbs than in reviews, and so I got to read more about how each game resonated with them moreso than others. This year in particular, I didn't really play any new games with actual singleplayer campaigns, so I mostly wanted to experience by proxy all the things I missed out on.

So with that in mind, I didn't really care about the reader's choice stuff...I don't even know if that was a thing this year, in fact. I can just ask you guys if I need a recommendation, so voting numbers on a chart mean nothing to me.

So you would rather give an award to something that would just be replaced by the next "big" Marvel summer movie next year, rather then a classic that will still be remembered probably after we are dead and gone?

edit: I don't quite agree with Arvis's analogy, but I get the sentiment.  I think its more like beating a Persona game on RPGFan  for a of the year category award is like trying to beat the New England Patriots at home during the playoffs. It can be done, but it is going to take a monumental effort.

How about games where they have  visible encounters, but the enemies are so fast that you practically have to be near the end of the area to escape them.

edit:  If you escape the battle  the enemy just blinks for a very short bit, and then attack you again.

The PC collector's edition pisses me off.  The thing costs $149.99 and doesn't even come with a physical copy of the game.  If I'm being asked to spend that kind of money on a collector's edition, giving me a code to download a copy as opposed to a physical copy is a massive turn off.  I will definitely not be buying this.  As far as I'm concerned, the collector's edition is a waste of both money and the resources to manufacture it.
Well, since it is Steam only game with Denuvo Anti-Tamper drm there was no way it was going to be anything other then a code. I guess they could have made a cd, but it still would just be a code in the disc, instead of just a download code.

You may want to look up "Yakitate Japan".
"Along with his friend Kawachi, he’ll go up against koala karate masters, Harvard bread scientists, samurai with rolling-pin swords and more as he bakes his way to glory!"

Sounds like my kind of show.
If you thought the reactions to eating good food were over the top in "Food Wars" they got nothing on "Yakitate Japan".

Bleach had 2  big problems and they just continued to get worse as the series progressed
1. Tite Had a fetish of creating god mode stu villains that took copious amounts of deus ex machIna to deal with, and sometimes even that truly wasn't enough.
2. His refusal to kill off popular characters no matter how mortally injured they may be

Next  season seems really meh to me.  I got a feeling a lot of people that are into Overlord are not gonna dig season 2 that much, at least for the 1st half of the season.

I am kinda interested in how Fate Extra turns out.

Will avoid Death March like it carries the plague.

Somehow, I actually find Spawn far less interesting than Heihachi, but having a guest fighter from your own other fighting game was inexcusable.

Them there are fighting words :P  Spawn's cape alone is more interesting then borachi

Well... as a guest fighter in SC, maybe.  But as a character from a piece of fiction, Heihachi is at least pretty different and unique for his medium (but, of course, still cheesy as heck).  While Spawn is essentially an anthropomorphization of cringey 90s teenage edgelord neckbeard comic book nonsense.

Ok, maybe those are fighting woords.

The original premise of Spawn was good.  The series derailed once  McFarlane couldn't figure out what he wanted to do with the character and then it became a train wreck.

^ Back when that game was new, I had this buddy who kept talking about how much better his Xbox was than my 'Cube. SC2 was one area where he got pretty damn jealous. Although, we agreed that Spawn was still a better deal than Heihachi's boring ass (in comparison).
lol, shows you how boring it is to put Heihachi into Soul Calibur. I totally forgot his boring ass was an exclusive character.

Wasn't the one with Link *still* the best-selling entry to this day?
probably,  I mean it is Link.

On another note the guest characters are really turning it up with TMNT for Injustice 2 and Noctis for Tekken 7. I wonder if this will actually get more general gamers into fighting games.
I doubt it . Didn't really happen with SoulCalibur which had Link, Darth Vader, Spawn,  and Enzo from Assassin's Creed at different points within the series.

edit also Killer Instinct with battle toads and gears of war characters.

Its a very situational bundle
Starbound
Darkest Dungeon
Stardew  Valley

 or to a lesser extent
Minecraft: Story Mode
Her Story
She Remembered Caterpillars
 Pony Island
Duck Game
Move or Die

The value exponentially drops  the more of these games you have, especially the top three. The rest of the bundle mostly consists of games that while not  exactly bad have been bundled as low as the 1st tier in previous Humbles, so chances are you already have them  or it is just not worth it.

Only worth it if you don't own games like Darkest Dungeon or Stardew Valley
