When Ken jumps off the tower and doesn't die immediately, I was floored.  Never seen that before in a movie. Heh, his body was so soft at that point they could serve it as Chef Boyardee.

It makes sense from that distance you very well might live a few seconds afterward (talking out my butt here).

Yeah, I quite liked that touch too. One of my favourite... err, elements of the film was probably Colin Farrel's obsession with midgets. I just couldn't get over how quirky he was.

Finally finished seeing all the 5th season Doctor Who episodes! I think Matt Smith is fabulous and Karen Gillan is absolutely lovely (almost as lovely as the River Song character!).  :)

I couldn't get behind any of the new Dr. Who stuff really, but the one season w/ christopher eccleston was amazing. I hated Tennant but I'll give this new chap a shot down the line.

Edit:

Falling Down was a favorite of mine when I was a teen. I still like it but I can't help but wonder if it wasn't made with all the cheesy 90s movie making tendencies how good it could've actually been.

Dragonheart
I thought it seemed neat, but damn it has ugly special effects.

Dragonheart 2
Still ugly as hell, and has cheap (not awful) acting.
I noticed one guy looked like Heath Ledger and someone else looked like Senator Palpatine from Star Wars.

both have worthwhile stories though

I mostly pop in occasionally to give my two cents on certain controversial things, so if you disagree then send a PM, because I generally don't check for replies in threads in case I feel like replying and then things get heated/derailed.

LOL

If any of you like stoner movies (and if I don't miss my mark, I think you do) check out Smiley Face.

Fucking hilarious.

I'm waiting for the day my folks go out and I can have a J to a stoner flick.

I watched Harry Potter 1.  Some bad CG, and obvious "trying to get cozy" feeling that makes the film feel a bit awkward and unsure of itself, but still delivers.  However, why is everyone in this movie an assshole?  All the teachers and aids are always like "Hurry up, come on now!" Haha  Harry's aunt and uncle are specially dicks... where is child services on him living under the stair nook? Or when his uncle is burning his letters? le sigh
That, and I REALIZE it for aesthetics, but allow me to poke fun... I love how the Witches world doesn't evolve, it's all stuck in what looks like the 19th century.  People wear top hats, and drink from dingy pubs lit by lanterns for goodness sake! Haha!  Funny, seems we relate that hocus-pocus aesthetic to a time when presumed-witches were burned at the stake.

I also realized Dumbledore uses that "light stealer" at the very beginning, the one he later gives to Ron in Deathly Hallows.

I like the 1st two HP movies for their charm and kiddie movie feel. It makes me feel like I'm a kid watching Willow, Neverending Story, Goonies, etc all over again.

And if you dig the style in HP...feast your eyes on.... SIRIUS BLACK

I'd do horrible things to any of Gary Oldmans characters... horribly SEXY things.... age is just a number.  Thats what I tell myself when I see a good looking high schooler... which reminds me, they've gotten uglier.  At least: the guys are more awkward, the woman are more whorish.

I've been teased by all my friends ever since they found out I prefer the "Top 10 Hottest" list for the older gentleman of the HP movies over the student list. Aah, the misunderstood silver fox attraction. :P

Minority Report - I really don't know what to say about it. It wasn't bad, yet I was itching to get out of my seat halfway through. Its attempts at humor were unnecessary, and I found the plot mostly confusing, and that rarely happens to me with movies. Yet I found it enjoyable, and the ending was nice. Also despite being confusing, I found it predictable towards the end, but that's a comfort by then.

Which reminds me - every so often I love a good Disney flick for that cheese factor and all the bright and happy colours and a happy ending.

Anyways.  I'll get this for your gf.

The good news is that she doesn't take it seriously and expects me to rip on it.

Last night my favorite south park was on. The one from season 3 where they all get hammered off s'more schnapps and recreate the civil war.

I watched it on Saturday with my wife, who redboxed it because she knows I won't put Twilight movies in my queue.
It's actually not as bad as the first two. Still not very good, but at least this one has a sense of humor about itself.
I've heard some interesting things about the last book, so I'm actually kinda looking forward to seeing if they can somehow make it NOT ridiculous.

+1 told me the ending of the last book and it's borderline hilarious and something out of species or something. there's no way in hell they keep it for the movie.

Unfortunately I have read the books, and yes, the last book is off the scale on creepiness.
