Now THIS! THIS is my recommendation. It is hilarious.
A yakuza ends up giving shelter to a psychic young girl. Wacky things ensue.
The side cast is also incredible. Goddamn Mishima Hitomi is a goldmine of humor. amazing

I also watched about 15 minutes of P5 and decided I like the not yet existent dub better and will just wait for that.

Even though I hate the 8-bit art style I've been playing a bit of 2064: Read only memories in between XBC2 because of our esteemed websites review. On chapter 4 and so far its one of the better written and acted VNs out there. I still hate the art style tho, it would have be an incredible game if they replaced the 1988 graphics with a 1988 anime look.

Pyra is the worst character design I have seen in ages, and Rex is the second worst.

come on now, they have to be at least second and third worst

I can tolerate a bit of fan service as long as they don't sound like blithering idiots (see: digimon cybersleuth). Kos-Mos was fan service-y. Rex and Pyra are likeable (so far on chapter 4) and Rex's outfit (from the waist up) kind of suits what he does.

did they ever fix the bad way points and completely shitty maps?

according to the updates they fixed some of the bad way points but not the map. the lousy map would be fine as it is with a tatsu ball.

Thinking about going back to school.
I hate my job.

and my life.

You probably hear this all the time, but if/when you make that decision to go back to school, make sure you do it in such a way that you don't put yourself into even greater debt.  You remember how that real estate bubble burst in 2008 and peoples' lives collapsed all over the country?  The school loan bubble is headed in that exact same direction.  In addition, do your homework about schools and don't fall into the trap of non-accredited, bogus, for-profit, scam schools like Thunderbird University or something.  You don't want your degree to be worth less than the paper it's printed on.

One option that I see a lot of returning/adult learners taking is going to community college.  That way, you can explore courses of study, get credits, and should you decide to go beyond an Associates, you won't be indebted to a bigger college as long.  Plus, a lot of community colleges have partnerships with state universities, so you can get a good education at a decent price through course credit transfers.

Its different from a housing bubble. You can walk away from a bad mortage, you can't walk away from student loan debt. So the banks are eventually gonna get paid.

But yea many community colleges are excellent. Here in Maryland we have some fantastic ones.

I wonder if this is the time for me to get back into Mega Man.

Probably not.

Mega Man 2 was reason I spent monies on other mega man games. With the exception of MM Legends I was often left underwhelmed.

I always think I want to play this and then I see the character designs again...

Its not Suikoden 3 in that dept but other than Rex's hammer pants they are actually decent IMO. I like XBC2's anime characters better than the character designs in Tales games.

and yea that soundtrack is pretty damn good.

the only thing I'm not really enjoying is the map. this game needs a tatsu ball in the worst way.

Here's a video that shows a side-by-side comparison of real-life Shibuya, and Persona 5 Shibuya.  It's a pretty good match in some areas.

Picked up a running injury so out for a few weeks so I figured hell, its time to get a switch.

I avoided most news about this game like the plague so I could dive in as blind as possible.

2 hours in and I'm loving this. The cloud sea thing is quite imaginative. For all the whining about Rex he seems far.  Put a British accent on some other pre-teen like Vaan and all of sudden the talk about dreaming about being a sky pirate goes from nasally, annoying and over-caffinated to wonderous and profound. I don't know why Brits in very anime JRPGs work so well, but they do and we need more of this.

No one will judge you if you don't get the Plat.

I will take the job. I am tough but fair.

what a let down :( i was really hoping this would be good. Thank you everyone for the input.

I mean its not terrible. Sure the story is so Level-5, but everyone probably knew that coming in. There's a Japanese dub, if that's your thing, its polished.  It just needed a normal and hard mode and a couple more hours of voice acting. Its frustruating because for all the work they put into the game, its diminshed by stuff that would have taken say 2-3 more weeks of development time.

I have literally just mashed the attack buttons and that's it. I'm not joking on even the slightest of levels.

Yea I'm starting to find that out. Really don't buy this game, the flaws are major but easily correctable (cutscenes and challenge). There is going to be a rerelease.

friend said the game was 6 year old levels of easy and literally no challenge at all, is this true?

so far yes, you can be say level 7 and pound the living crap out of things level 17. The combat is well-done though there are a scattering of high level creatures on the map you can challenge.

I have no idea how this game got such good reviews. Man I hope it picks up. Even if I were ignoring the bad plot, the strange things like the lack of voice acting and insulting story progression is just jarring.

Roland just accepts all the crazy shit as if his real life was a dream or something. He doesn't question what is going on at all. Cat and Mice people trying to murder a furry boy. Yep back home, just had a crazy dream a flying thing exploded and I got pinned under a metal thing with wheels.

And oh my God at these speech bubbles. You get a cute Zelda sound effect like Hey! or Opps! Followed by a mountain of text. Even outside of cutscene like in the open world a even smaller; harder to read text bubble pops up out of nowhere and before my eyes can lock onto it, it disperses.
Who thought this was a good idea?

I can accept a simple cookie cutter story, the characters seem fine too. Also, I don't love JRPGs because its great literature or anything so I can tolerate a bunch. But Jose H Christmas those silent speech bubbles, OH MY! HEY! and HELLO! followed by text are going to kill the story and annoy the living crap out of me. Its not like there are Cold Steel reams of text to voice either. Who the hell thought that this was a good idea? This is where your cutting corners, in a story driven RPG in 2018? Really wait 6 months to a year before buying this game because they'll probably release a "corrected" version or something.
