Nintendo to drop casuals and focus on core.
(casuals all have iPad and iPhones anyway)

Zoe Quinn was dating a guy.
Guy found out Zoe Quinn was cheating on him with at least 5 confirmed other guy.
Guy made a website where he explains that she's a total slut and liar and people should be wary of entering a relationship with her.
One of the guy in question was a Kotaku reviewer (Nathan Grayson).
Somehow there was misinformation about him reviewing Depression Quest (which he did not, but he did write about Game Jam where it was mentioned as one game present although that was before their affair anyway)
People are outraged at how Zoe Quinn slept with the press for better reviews of her free game. (which is based on misinformation - see Klutz above lol)

Website by the ex-boyfriend:
http://thezoepost.wordpress.com/

Kotaku chief editor about Nathan Grayson:
http://kotaku.com/in-recent-days-ive-been-asked-several-times-about-a-pos-1624707346

So other than being a terrible person, which there are plenty of in this world, there's nothing really special about her.
How about sexually harassing someone then having her industry friends bully him into backing down when he speaks about it:
http://i.imgur.com/4fS9ctR.png
http://i.imgur.com/qkdieHr.png
http://i.imgur.com/VQVdKbg.png

How about doxxing and harassing The Fine Young Capitalists, a charity meant to help women game devs get into gaming and break into the field, all because they represented competition to her and her "Rebel Game Jam" (which has no start up date or information by the way)?
http://i.imgur.com/4eeXEWf.png

How about blaming a board of suicidal, depressed and lonely male virgins for an alleged harassment, offering no proof that it happened, then having the game journalism industry incite mob violence and verbal assault against these people who were already a step away from killing themselves?
http://imgur.com/a/4VOcx

Make no mistake, it's not just Zoe Quinn here that's to blame. She's the matchstick, the firestarter, and the game journalist industry was the powderkeg. But this couldn't have happened without both. Without her, there'd be nobody for the gaming journalism industry to bully. Without them, her sociopathic nonsense wouldn't have caught on. This is no longer about sexism in gaming. It's about stringing up convenient scapegoats and easy targets to mock, berate, and destroy, then patting yourself on the back while doing it, while actually doing more HARM to equality than helping. They are literally mob lynching the minorities and victims they claim to defend and represent, and if that isn't the most disgusting thing you've ever heard, then I don't know what is. I know my opinions here are not popular and will probably be ignored/dismissed as "MRA/misogyny" but it's more complicated than "GRR MISOGYNY" like everyone seems to think. The only reason people don't know about this stuff is because all the gaming sites have been enforcing a media blackut so they don't have to reveal this stuff.

An interesting read, but I don't support the call in there to go refuse the game on Greenlight.
Even though, as stated, the SJWs probably flooded the game with positive responses, it is still malignant to flood it with negative ones as a counter movement.
What should matter is the actual quality of the game and nothing else.

People always mix their agendas and their cause.
Doing evil to counter another one does not make right.

Also, having Neogaf stated as a feminist site is not entirely accurate.
Neogaf is a site with minorities (of any kind) where mods tend to side with the minorities and ban anyone showing any hint of non-conformism to their ideas for reasons I know not.

Although, maybe I'm speaking out of my ass, being a privileged, heterosexual, white male of average income, college education and locally accepted religious beliefs.
(Speaking of which, I never understood the idea of calling it 'privileged' as that would mean those called out are treated higher than basic social decency which is what I believe everyone should have. Instead of calling the group treated normally as 'privileged', wouldn't it make more sense to call those treated any lower than what is normal 'restricted' or perhaps 'deprived'?)

IIRC the first page of the Neogaf post was most people not knowing who the hell she is.

Also, having Neogaf stated as a feminist site is not entirely accurate.

If it were, I'm sure topics about it wouldn't span an average of 20 pages. :S

At this point, Zoe Quinn is only peripherally important. She is important only in a symbolic sense I.E. she didn't have the good sense to know when to stop pushing. I'm not about to agree with the things being done to her and her game, but I'm not going to shed a tear for someone so ridiculously toxic and monstrous.

The more important thing is the game sites. For years they've been sitting in their ivory towers telling us how evil we are that we enjoy certain games, or that wanting to just have our hobby be our hobby and not want to make anything more than that out of it is some sort of sin. Now, it's been revealed that they've been doing some really shady shit - I have to reiterate here: instigating verbal harassment and mob violence against a board of suicidally depressed people, to promote a game about depression, because seriously, what the fuck - and their response is still "the only reason you hate is is because you hate women. Calling her, and us, out on our bullshit means you are comparable to ISIS." Not forgetting that they basically blacklisted The Fine Young Capitalists because a positive article about promoting women in game development wasn't click-baity enough. Am I the only one seeing a significant problem here or am I insane/the only sane one?

Is it me or did I just step into a Lifetime Original Movie?

I mean seriously, there's a specific message board for only socially awkward, lonely, males? Why? Just sitting there, dwelling upon their own problems out in the middle of the goddamn Internet is the worst thing they can do. They should at least try to get out of their house and do something with themselves, even if its joining an anime viewing club to view anime or something that's almost, but not quite as lonely or socially awkward as posting on a socially awkward, lonely, males only message board.
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

From what I can glean out of everything I've read about it, they are seriously depressed NEETs (not in education, employment, or training) and agroaphobics, and similar people with psychological problems. The term wizard seems to come from a Japanese meme that means "30-year-old virgin." They are basically the western equivalent of hikkikomoris of Japan, and the site has suicide hotlines on every sub board. I am not even joking. It is depressing just to read through the stuff there.

This is pretty hilarious (and probably due to a combination of tapping out the Blue Ocean market and the Wii U continuing struggles), but its nice to hear since Nintendo does make some pretty fun games (and I'd like to believe that this new attitude change is why we're finally hearing from Star Fox again (seriously, Command was released in like 2007; its been nearly a full decade)).
In my vision, I see that one of us is going to KO the other.

I certainly see the problems you are describing in the way you are characterizing the situation. I just am not familiar enough with the situation to be able to add anything to the discussion.

The more I hear about it, the more... I don't know. There's so much 'he says, she says' going on and people on both/all sides are doing/saying terrible things to one another. It's the type of drama I expect on some weird ass deviant art pages...

Those wizards guys? She should have left them alone. It sounds to me many of them have significant problems and are looking for something or someone to blame their problems on. It's an unhealthy thing to do, but provoking them is going to help neither them nor her. Well, unless she's looking for attention, that is. Involving them kinda feels like bullying to me...
