Title: Marvel: Ant-Man to retain core Edgar Wright 'DNA'
Post by: Yggdrasil on June 24, 2014, 08:36:31 AM
from The Guardian (http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jun/24/ant-man-to-retain-core-edgar-wright-dna-marvel):

"Marvel chief Kevin Feige has reassured fans that, despite an impending rewrite, Edgar Wright's eight years of development on the 2015 release won't go to waste."

This is one of those movies I'm not sure how is gonna turn out anymore.

I'm just disappointed it's not an Atom Ant movie, myself...

Def. some internal drama happening inside Marvel execs and Hollywood creatives. For some reason no one wants to touch this thing with a ten foot pole.

I can't see an Ant Man movie being a hit. Just sayin'. Even Doctor Strange might be a long shot. But if Guardians succeeds..who knows...

^I got nothing to say. And if I say something then there's clever/jaded comment following after it. I've been doing this for years and is not a symptom of autism, there's just not much of anything to say other than to share the news from my part.

But hey, don't mind me. I'm always the crazy one so whatever.

I've got nothing to add beyond my initial comment.

Well maybe hopefully this shit movie doesn't get made. Just because hero movies are finally good and viable doesn't mean we need to water it down even more with C-listers like Ant-man

Still skeptical about this one. I wish this was an arch in one of the Avengers or solo movies or even an after credit scene, but Marvel's sticking to their guns to give Ant Man his own solo treatment. I'll be amazed if they can stick to their summer 2015 premiere date given how long post-production usually takes.

Kevin Feige rejects Marvel criticism over Edgar Wright exit (http://www.theguardian.com/film/2014/jul/16/ant-man-kevin-feige-rejects-marvel-criticism-over-edgar-wright-exit) -- The Guardian

"Ahead of the release of Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel president says new director Peyton Reed will deliver 'absolute best version' of Ant-Man and that superhero production house is not 'big evil studio' opposed to creativity."

I recommend reading the entire article before going bananas.

"2017 is going to be one of the most important years ever for Marvel."

Three movies are planned for release in 2017. Hope they are all good~ (ノ´ヮ´)ノ*:・゚✧

You know, I like Paul Rudd, I really do. He's been a snarky funny guy for years now. But I don't see him as a super hero. This movie is gonna be a stinker, I think.

I'm not really one to focus on actors myself, for the most part. This trailer, though, was trite.

I just can't help but wonder if Edgar Wright had written something that was actually original for these movies and they felt the need to water it down to be another one of their Marvel Assembly Line movies.

As long as the movie is fun I'm good. Party poopers be damned.

I'm always up for watching a good movie, but it's going to take some convincing for me to think a movie directed by the guy who directed Yes Man and written by the guy who writes those crappy Will Ferrell comedies will be any good.

The fact that these are the people they chose to replace Edgar Wright, regardless of what I think of him, is what bothers me.

The fact a director was able to adapt Scott Pilgrim at all is an amazing feat.  But then Edgar Wright not only adapted it, but fitted it with the quick humour and comic-like visuals from the source material and do so successfully is unreal.  I definitely think Wright was a huge loss for the project.  Still, I think the movie can be fun without him.

*( on that note, I always liked how Marvel movies kinda 'poke fun' of comic book oddities; Scott disliking the "Ant Man" name, Wolverine worried about wearing yellow spandex, etc.).
