I'm not even going to qualify this video with an explanation.  Just watch it.  Don't worry, it's totally safe for work and everything.
This is awesome.  You win the internets for posting this and I'm not even a fan of metal (not that I dislike it or anything).  Where do you want me to ship your reward?

I have had a disturbing revelation.  I ordered food earlier this evening and ordered two Snapples with my meal.  When they arrived, they came in plastic bottles.  To say I was disturbed by this ominous development would be an understatement.  Their glass bottles were iconic.  I hate that they switched in order to save money. ;_; :_; ;_;

I've been watching a Twtich user by the name of OMGFloofy stream the game.  It looks really good in motion.  For a small time developer, Falcom has done a fine job making this game pretty.

On the one hand, I want this game since I never beat the original.  On the other hand, I don't know if it will be worth the expense.  If the price is right, I'll pick it up.

Well since I've seen the translations for the Danganronpa series those are pretty good but how is the translation for the Disgaea series. I have only played parts of it not the whole series. I will say though at least NISA is addressing the issue looks like I won't be playing Ys VIII until the end of November now.
This is actually what pisses me off about the sloppy localization of Ys VIII.  The Danganrompa games were all localized skillfully.  Seriously, NISA did a good job on all three games and there is little in the way of awkward dialogue of poorly written sentence structure.  The same can't be said of Ys VIII.  It's like they put in the B Team to translate the game.

On the other hand, I've had direct dealings in the past with NISA where I had issues with an order.  They went out of their way to fix the problem I had and treated me right.  If they're acknowledging that their efforts were flawed, then I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until after I see the patch.  I think they'll make good on their mistakes.

Review in progress. It's....not great
Color me unsurprised.  The game just screams paint by numbers effort.

I noticed some new images on Blue Reflection were posted on the main site.  I find myself totally underwhelmed by this game.  While the concept art is gorgeous, the character designs of the girls feels completely generic.  While the artwork is certainly pretty, it feels totally cookie cutter.  I really don't see the appeal of the game.

I guess part of it is that I don't find the idea of playing a teenage magical girl all that interesting or appealing.  Oh well.  Still, if the game is good and highly recommended, I might check it out down the line.

This game gave me another case of the feels last night.  That's the second time this happened.  I think this has probably become my absolute favorite Tales RPG from a story based perspective.

Eww.  That is a terrible idea for an trophy reward.  Why reward tedium?

I am still plugging away at this game.  The combat itself is a blast.  I've played one interception mission and to be honest, I'm not sure if it will be a source of fun or frustration.

If you put it in a spoiler block and someone who hasn't played Ys VIII chooses to read it, it's on them.

I've played first person shooters on both PC and console.  Frankly, for that genre of game, mouse and keyboard is far superior.  It doesn't change the fact that I still find using a controller more comfortable.  Additionally, the thought of trying to play an Ys game with the mouse and keyboard interface makes me cringe.

I played for a couple of hours this morning.  The combat is a blast.  Also, while I do think the game is pretty, it isn't as impressive visually as other Playstation 4 games, which is fine since the game play is so good.

XSeeD. Accept no substitutes.

But then, I went and misread the announcement as Ys VIII delayed to unannounced fate. So really, its unfortunate, but I'm not surprised given how many times XSeeD had to delay their releases to make sure everything worked right *cough*TitS SC*cough*.
...I can't tell whether you are unaware of the fact that NISA is responsible for Ys VIII (despite the post you quoting saying NISA in the signature spot) or are aware and are just referencing them because they used to be involved with Ys. O.o
I'm surprised they passed on this game, actually.  My guess is that they either got outbid by NISA or their slate was full and couldn't take the project on.  Considering all the PC releases they've done of late, I'm thinking the latter.  I just hope that they do Trails of Cold Steel III.

I've gotten further along into the game.  I'm putting my comments into spoilers since the game is still a relatively recent release, even though anyone reading this thread has probably beaten the game ages ago.

Spoiler: show
So I got to the point where Innominant was revived and its aftermath.  Assuming the memories the crew saw as they escaped the Earthpulse, I can't help but think Melchior is a complete and utter bastard.  It's clear that his goal from before the Opening occurred was to revive Innominant.  After Artorius lost his wife and child he used the man's grief to manipulate him into following his plan.  Up until those scenes, I had believed that Artorius sacrificed Celica and his unborn child in order to begin the awakening of Innominant.  Instead, Celica gave her life to save Arthur.  His past is almost as tragic as Velvet's.

The one thing that does kind of upset me is that it turns out Laphicet (Velvet's brother, not the party member) chose to be sacrificed.  In some ways I think his act was selfish and selfless.  Part of his motivation is almost certainly a desire to give his own death meaning.  Instead of dying of illness, he can die giving humanity the power it needs to fight back against the daemons.  On the other hand, his request to keep this information from Velvet destroyed her.  I think the reason he asked to keep her ignorant is because if she knew, she would've been able to talk him out of it.  I think that was selfish on his part as his death destroyed her.

The one thing I'm wondering about now is if Melchior played a role in the villagers of Aball selling out Artorious and his family to those brigands turned daemons.  A part of me suspects he definitely had a role as I find it extremely convenient that he would be on hand at Aball during the opening.  If this is the case, please don't confirm or deny as I don't want to be spoiled.

The final scene during the crew's escape from the earthpulse gave me a case of the feels, I'm embarrassed to admit.  I found myself moved by Phi's devotion to Velvet and the depths of Velvet's grief and despair.  The actress who played Velvet did a superb job during the whole sequence.  You can sense her coming apart at the seams emotionally and psychologically during their escape.  If the acting had been done with the same level as Namco's earlier localization efforts, the whole thing would've fallen flat.  Seriously, the actress who played Velvet is good.

Needless to say, I can't wait to see what happens next.
