At the risk of dragging out a nonsensical argument even further...

Why is anyone angry about pumpkin spice in the first place?  If you don't like it don't drink it.  But using it as a symbol of American complacency is just...strange.

Whatever you might think about their coffee, Starbucks treats their employees very well.  They pay well, offer health care benefits even for part time employees (which they are definitely not required to do and many places try to keep people part time specifically to not have to give them health care benefits), and is consistently ranked as one of the best companies in America to work for.  Walmart they ain't.  I think you can rightfully make the argument that places like Walmart have been very destructive to communities, forcing people into low-paying dead-end jobs as they drive every other place out of business.  You can make a moral argument for not shopping there.

But Starbucks?  That's just nonsense.

Not liking their coffee doesn't put you on any kind of moral high ground.  And it certainly doesn't give you the right to condemn people for liking it.

B) fake pumpkin flavored coffee is the grossest misappropriation of taste this side of cherry wheat beer.

Didn't Starbucks claim that they started using real pumpkin a couple years ago?  I wouldn't know, never actually tried it.

I'll say this though: I love pumpkin ale.  Love love love it.  Why is it even a seasonal thing?  I would drink it year round if I could...

Want to see some seriously cool tech?

Off-shore wind farms are not a new idea but until these were made all existing installations were built on columns attached directly to the sea floor.  That limits them to fairly shallow water.  These ones actually float and only have to be anchored to the sea floor, which means they can be constructed in deep water.  This not only means there are a lot more places you could theoretically build wind farms, there are also stronger and steadier winds when you go out to sea.  Theoretically there's enough wind energy in deep waters to meet the entire world's energy demand for the foreseeable future...of course actually harnessing it is another story.  This particularly installation is rather expensive for the energy it generates.  But then it's also a first of its kind and we can expect the technology to get cheaper as it matures.

The turbines themselves are also just friggin huge.  6 MW from a single turbine.  You have to admire the engineering that goes into a project like this.

Edit: I think it's also interesting to note that the company that built this originally specialized it building off-shore oil rigs.  It makes a lot of sense that they would be able to leverage that expertise to make other off-shore structures, but there is a bit of irony there.

The boss with the bug in 2 wasn't even optional.  I mean, there was an optional mode where you could fight her again and again and she would get stronger every time to unlock stuff and that whole thing was basically impossible in the US version thanks to the bug.  But you still fight her once during the story and you have to beat her within 3 turns or the game will crash.

Fortunately the story battle isn't really that hard and beating her within 3 turns is totally doable.  But still, you actually have the double whammy of a potentially game-breaking bug in a non-optional story fight and and entire mode full of shit to unlock that isn't even possible to do in the US version.

...and then there's a few parts in that game where they forgot to translate shit at all and literally just left in the Japanese text (in Japanese characters, not even romanized or something).  In additional to all the usual spelling and grammatical mistakes you often see in bad localizations.

AT2's localization was pretty much a complete disaster.

See, that I can respect...

Pissing in grocery bags though?  I'm going to assume you're talking about the plastic ones but even then...they use extremely cheap plastic and gets holes in them very easily...

Disgaea is NIS's flagship series so NISA always seems to put a lot more effort into it than they do for their third-party localizations.

Remember Ar Tonelico 2...

A Sister's All You Need (4-minute drop):  Four minutes was too much, and now I can't unwatch it.  Eww.

Hah, I did try to warn people about this.  But seriously, the rest of the episode is nothing like the beginning bit...sounds you quit right as it started to get interesting.

My new computer case has arrived but I'm still waiting on most of the stuff to put in it (they were sent in multiple shipments for whatever reason).  But I had fun tearing down the case and seeing how it all goes together.  It's a nice case and very modular.

I feel like you guys are being fanboys or something...
The ellipses is the smallest thing on that whole page and you stuck to it? Really?

A fanboy accusation?  Seriously?   I don't even like NISA...

I commented on the ellipsis thing because it stuck out to me.  It's simply not a valid criticism, so why does whoever made that page even complain about it (twice no less...)?

As far as the sentence structure goes, it looks perfectly valid to me.  Without the ellipsis it reads, "This is a trap that's used by Romun troops."  What is the problem with that?  I really don't see a single issue there.  So I can only guess that whoever wrote that doesn't like where the ellipsis is, but that has nothing to do with sentence structure.  It's an ellipsis to indicate a pause in spoken dialogue, and you can put those basically anywhere so long as that's where you want the pause to be.

I am not claiming that there aren't issues.  Obviously there are issues if NISA is releasing a patch.  But that page you linked to is doing a really bad job of presenting them...

So I gave Dies irae episode 0 a, that was complete shit.  I seriously can't think of a single good thing to say about it.  Maybe it makes more sense if you're familiar with the source material (I'm not), but on it's own we just have a bunch of poorly animated, totally unrelatable characters soliloquizing about chuuni-esque bullshit in between shitty fight scenes that are like 90% just two characters glaring at each other.  Seriously, camera shot of character A glaring, switch to character B glaring, switch back to character A glaring, etc. etc.  The whole thing was somehow simultaneously an incomprehensible mess while also being riddled with cliches.

It also doesn't help that I'm really not comfortable with the whole magical Nazis theme...seriously, Reinhard Heydrich was one of the principle architects of the holocaust and now he's the main character?  Really?  Why...

Wasn't this supposed to one of the big name shows this season?  I don't normally bitch about things like animation but it was honestly distractingly bad here.  Way too cheap tricks being used, it feels like a low-budget show from the 90s.

I know it's just episode 0 but if it wasn't for the hype behind this show I would be dropping it already.  Hell if it wasn't for the hype I don't even know if I would have been able to make it through the whole episode.  Is this anything like the VN?  Does it get better?  Because right now I am completely baffled trying to understand what people even see in it...

No, it is pretty bad. Take a look:

From that page...

That's not even mentioning the fact there is no space after the ellipsis.

OK, so I'm a native English speaker and I have literally never even heard of putting a space after an ellipsis.  I thought maybe I've been doing it wrong all these years so I did a little research, and indeed there are some people who put spaces before or after an ellipsis but that's not a more correct usage.  It's purely a style thing.  And the Chicago Manual of Style--one of the most widely used and respected style guides in the US--says no spaces.

I won't comment on the rest of that page but when you see things like this it really feels like they're grasping at straws for stuff to complain about...

show the consequences of such actions.

I don't think that's how you (successfully) pander to fetishists, though.

The OreImo ending kind of actually did this...and everybody hated it.

But I feel like a lot of people care more for the "imouto character" archetype than they do for actual little sisters.  Like the Imouto Sae Ireba ii MC doesn't even have a little sister (as far as we know, at this point), blood-related or otherwise.  He's just obsessed with imouto characters...hell, I know real people like that...

I can recall seeing the Imouto Sae Ireba ii (A Sister's All You Need) LNs around for years now and I always kind of rolled my eyes at the title.  Never actually tried reading them for reason that...really ought to be obvious.  But now that it's animated I figured what the heck, let's see if it's as bad as I imagined.  Sure the summary sounds suspiciously similar to Eromanga Sensei and we all know that was complete utter trash.  But who knows...

...Well I can hardly believe I'm writing this but I actually liked the first episode.  Fair warning though: The first roughly two minutes consists of an absurd parody that's basically the fantasies of a deranged siscon.  It's so over-the-top it's kind of obvious that it's parody but...even so it's too much.  I almost quit right there.  Fortunately it ended and really the rest of the episode is absolutely nothing like that.  I'm still not totally sure what the show is all about to be honest because most of the first episode was really character introductions.  But they were natural character introductions, meaning the audience gets to know the characters through dialogue rather than a narrator reading summary blurbs or something.  That was kind of it, really, but it was well-written, well-paced, and surprisingly enjoyable.  There wasn't a whole lot of plot development but then it's just the first episode.

There is no denying, however, that this show is very much a product of Japan's bizarre fixation on little sisters.  The question is whether it's a parody or social commentary on that fixation or just an indulgence of it (ala Eromanga Sensei...).  So far it seems to be more of the former.  The main character is obsessed with and writes about little sister characters but he doesn't actually have a sister himself.  (Or does he?  I'm already suspicious of the 'little brother' character and this is by the same author as Haganai...).  There was already some indication towards the end of the episode that he has some deeper insecurities and is using the whole 'little sister' thing as an excuse to maintain a certain distance from people.  Or maybe I'm reading too much into that scene.  But the fact that I would even consider that interpretation already puts this above most works in the 'genre'.

Obviously it's just one episode and the show could still go to shit, but at least for now I'm going to keep watching.

Honestly only when they build a white guantanamo where all the police and military go can we reasonably claim to have a semi-safe society etc.

Weren't you just banned for posting crap like this?
