I'm kind of shocked how basic the trailer was. Like, it's hard to feel excited when all they showed is 100% exactly what we would expect. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to it a lot, but that wasn't very exciting start.

I didn't try any of the Draconian Quests, but if I ever play it again I definitely will. The no shops one, at least at a glance, seems likee it wouldn't be that hard? I barely touched the shops on my run-through anyway, and when I did it was only for convinience.

Beat this yesterday and got the Platinum Trophy. Absolutely loved it; one of the best JRPGs I've played in a long time and I think my favourite on PS4 (close call with Persona 5). I can name a number of faults with it, but I honestly just enjoyed it so much overall that they didn't matter. Took 92 hours, but I did absolutely everything other than filling out the bestiary and the item databse (I could... but it doesn't sound like much fun).

Agreed on the eidolons, Pat, they were great fights, a couple in particular. I thought Luna was such a missed opportunity. I really liked her! She didn't even need to join as a party character, I just wish they'd used her more.

Appreciate your thoughts, thanks Arvis! I actually didn't mind the story ending either, but I felt a lot was lost on me just because I'd found so much of the rest of the story disjointed.

I honestly enjoyed this game a great deal.

Because it's actually a really good game.

I'm not trying to revive a massive debate... I'm just wondering what appealed to you both? I just hated the whole game from start to finish. I thought the open-world was boring, combat took too long (though, to be fair, I probably wasn't very good at it), the main characters weren't engaging and others were underutilised, the dialogue was cringey, and the story was just a head-scratching mess (but, hey, Tetsuya Nomura, so I'm not surprised). The graphics were good, so there's that, I guess.

I don't mind the new Aether mode, but the rewards are kind of pointless since they're sort of circular. Winning in Aether mode gives you rewards that allow you to build your keep better so you can... win more at Aether mode. Unless you want more Grand Hero Battle units, of course, though I'm not especially interested in them.

I think I'm finally losing interest in FEH (which, considering we're at 1.5 years, that's pretty good on their part!). Logging in to get the daily orbs and a couple of TT runs, but that's about it. Things are feeling a little stale for me, I think. My units aren't good enough/I don't have the patience for the new difficulty levels -- I can barely do a handful of the existing Infernal maps. Guess I'll see what new content comes out soon (Book 3?).

I played on Normal and found some TMs that were below my level that could one-shot me, so beware.

Thanks for the heads up!

Once you get to Tainted Monsters and the ability to explore the world freely you're going to really feel the "hard" in Hard Mode. :D

I've beaten up a few tainted monsters! Though found I needed to be about 10 levels higher or so to reliably win. Even then, one hit from them usually does like 50% of my HP in damage. Ouch.

As for exploration,
I've got a jumping boat and I'm currently in Broadleaf.
About 15 hours in to Ni no Kuni 2 and loving it so far. Patched and playing on 'Hard' difficulty, which gave me a few early deaths before I knew what I was doing, though overall it feels more like a 'Normal' level of difficulty to me. Love the visuals, and combat is really fun. My only complaint is that movement feels a bit slippery or floaty both in and out of combat. Side-quests are pretty meh, but the main game is good fun and I'm enjoying the kingdom building.

I like the designs. Did you pick the colours?

Oh cool, good to know. Thanks! Pretty sure I will pick the game up some time this year then.

I've been interested in NMS since launch, but was put off by the awful reviews. All the changes and updates seem really positive, but a question for you: is the multiplayer a required part of it now? Or can you still play a purely single-player game?

Normally I'd be all over a Thracia banner, but I think I'm going to skip this one. I already have characters in the same or atleast very similar niches (including a fully built +spd Linde), and while these may be slightly better, my current ones are doing a good job as they are.

This has been my attitude for some months now. I'm pretty much only pulling for characters I really, *really*, like now (maybe occasionally for a particular skill), because I've kind of got a unit that covers what I need gameplay wise already. Getting kind of same-old-same-old from a gameplay perspective. Hopefully more coloured bows might eventually change that up.
