If you ever wanted a Steam Link device now is the time. You can get a Steam Link +Icey ( a pretty good side scrolling, action platformer ) for $8.69 + shipping & handling

offer ends the 21st

Oh, I've had that game installed for a while and just...forgot about it. Maybe I should start it up at some point...

Unfortunately, since I already own the game, I can't get the bundle...unless I convince my brother to buy it?
if your brother doesn't want to buy it, you could make a secondary alt account, and buy it that way. I know many people who have multiple Steam accounts for cards/item farming. Buy it on alt account + refund Icey game = profit. If you are paranoid you could always wait until you received the Steam Link in the mail and then ask for a refund on Icey.
edit: Turns out Annubis's suggestion is the easiest way as it dose not truly remove the game from your account, and you can just restore it after you  get a refund from the Icey that comes in the bundle.

Ok, that is an ABSURDLY good deal, but... I can already connect my laptop to my tv.  So... hm.
I  can see myself using it, but it is not something I'd go out of my way to use. I am getting it cause it so cheap, at worst  I'll just sell it on Ebay for a profit on a later date. Can't beat  8.69 + shipping or 1.00 +shipping if you refund the game.

edit:  shipping came out to be $7.99 in the US  so that is something to keep in mind.
A little high on shipping, but still a good deal.

So I just watched Dies Irae episode 0. I am so torn on this. So on one hand, this was a horrible spot for them to start from. Having an episode dedicated to this plot is not a bad idea...but it should have been in the middle of the series rather than at the beginning. Too many characters introduced at once, and too many spoilers given due to the fact that this story was not meant to come first. But at the same time, I'm actually impressed with how well they managed to condense the side story down to get all the important beats. There were a lot of details changed, but nothing too important (although not including Ruskalla's freakout was disappointing). I am more optimistic for the rest of the series being able to condense the important parts well. Less optimistic about the fights though.
Objectively look at this episode from a view point of a person who knew nothing about Dies Irae, and tell me how they can't think it was anything other then confusing garbage.  They cliff noted the episode in a way that  almost  all of the context was lost.  The episode left a very bad impression and is not well received anywhere.

I guess we should be glad Ys VIII functions well on a technical level. NISA seems to release a game with a game breaking bug every other year or so...
Unless you are pc gamer where the port went so bad they they still have not released the game, and have had their lips sealed about the port since it was delayed.

Dies Irae episode zero: I was expecting much worse. Pretty much speeds through the Die Morgendammerung side story. I Can see someone not acquainted with the source material being lost easily.
edit: I outright do not like way the handled Reinhard's  transformation  and just skipped over the fall out. This really needed another episode.

Yet another edit: I am wondering where they are going with next episode as they did not explain any of the sorcerery that caused them to become super powered Nazi's and why a time skip must occur, just bam here are the super powerered Nazi !  context? who needs that.  If you are an anime only person I can't see you getting much out this at all.

So I gave Dies irae episode 0 a, that was complete shit.  I seriously can't think of a single good thing to say about it.  Maybe it makes more sense if you're familiar with the source material (I'm not), but on it's own we just have a bunch of poorly animated, totally unrelatable characters soliloquizing about chuuni-esque bullshit in between shitty fight scenes that are like 90% just two characters glaring at each other.  Seriously, camera shot of character A glaring, switch to character B glaring, switch back to character A glaring, etc. etc.  The whole thing was somehow simultaneously an incomprehensible mess while also being riddled with cliches.

It also doesn't help that I'm really not comfortable with the whole magical Nazis theme...seriously, Reinhard Heydrich was one of the principle architects of the holocaust and now he's the main character?  Really?  Why...

Wasn't this supposed to one of the big name shows this season?  I don't normally bitch about things like animation but it was honestly distractingly bad here.  Way too cheap tricks being used, it feels like a low-budget show from the 90s.

I know it's just episode 0 but if it wasn't for the hype behind this show I would be dropping it already.  Hell if it wasn't for the hype I don't even know if I would have been able to make it through the whole episode.  Is this anything like the VN?  Does it get better?  Because right now I am completely baffled trying to understand what people even see in it...

I'll have to view it later to actually comment on it, but it seems like its going to be just like I feared. Light the company the made the VN is not some juggernaut like Type moon or Key,  and needed A kickstarter to fund a chunk of the anime project. I expected the animation to very suspect in certain areas but was hoping they would step it up a bit in at least in some fights. The minute I saw this was going to be a 12 episode anime I knew it was 80% likely to be a train wreck.  You could easily get a series worth of episodes just out of the common route and the prologue backstories that sets up the story.   Reinhard is one the main antagonist of the series along with Karl Kraft. It sounds like they are doing an origin setup  Dies Irae 1940s WW2, and then are going to bring the story up to modern day Japan. Just making blind assumptions, but it seems like they are already failing miserably.

show the consequences of such actions.

I don't think that's how you (successfully) pander to fetishists, though.

The OreImo ending kind of actually did this...and everybody hated it.

But I feel like a lot of people care more for the "imouto character" archetype than they do for actual little sisters.  Like the Imouto Sae Ireba ii MC doesn't even have a little sister (as far as we know, at this point), blood-related or otherwise.  He's just obsessed with imouto characters...hell, I know real people like that...
Oriemo had the double whammy of going the full incest route and taking a direct dump on the rest of the likable harem.
edit: A lot of the backlash came from the way Kuroneko and Manami  were treated.

Everytime I've seen the incest thing in anime you almost always find out at some point they weren't blood related anyway. Is it weird to say that the trope bothers me more than the actual incest? :P
Oh, I get you. If you are going to play around with a squick subject at least have the balls to go through with your squick subject, and show the consequences of such actions.

I'm not really political but

1) Why is this political?  Don't feel like it should be.

2) Too many people are nervously waiting details on the shooter's religion and voting history before deciding how they will react to this.  That's messed up.
So far it seems like the guy just wasn't all there in the head, and snapped. Turns out his father wasn't the quite the model citizen either.

A rare time a bundle has started on a Friday. Do not know much about these games so I am not going to comment on them but Hidden Gems 2 started a few minutes ago.
