I think Magna Carta 2 is the game someone was mentioning that there was a boss fight that you're supposed to lose but it's actually fairly easy to win or something?

Most people I've talked to haven't had any complaints about the translation and are frankly confused by this.
I think it's another case similar to Persona 5.

No idea WTF is going on this year with all the translation quality whining.

I watched the first episode of the new season of Channel Zero (SyFy's own version of AHS) after never watching the first season despite constantly telling myself I wanted to. It's an absolutely amazing show if you're like me and enjoy horror but don't really appreciate cheap jumpscares or a reliance on gore. Channel Zero is more about upping the creepiness to 11 and messing with your head. I didn't think it all that scary while watching it but afterward realized it managed to terrify me.

Season 2 is about the No-End House, a haunted house that most people seem to believe is a traveling art installation but which has plenty of urban legends about, and of course turns out to be more than people thought.

Even though most people have probably either already heard or (more than likely) don't really care... I feel like I have an obligation to mention that The Witch and the Hundred Knight 2 has been confirmed for a Western release early next year.

The gameplay of the first one was pretty meh, enough so that I didn't bother getting the PS4 version. But I really liked the story and characters (duh), so I'll probably get this one and hope the new cast resonates with me even half as much as Metallia did.

plus the whole "please think for me" mentality I'm seeing is grinding my gears more than it ever has. 

I have the opposite problem with people. I constantly encounter what I call the "Let me Google that for you" attitude where it's taboo to ask questions anymore because people just want you to look it up on the Internet. And yet these people are missing out on interesting perspectives, asides, anecdotes, and trivia by not asking real people questions.

It's that time of year again. ...Time to play some scary games. Anyone else doing so this season?
I have Fatal Frame 2 and Among the Sleep lined up this time. If I have time, I'll finally get to Alan Wake as well. Aside from finishing the first level of AtS like over a year ago, I've never played any of these before.
I'm a bit excited about Fatal Frame 2, as many have said it is one of the scariest games they have ever played. I say bring it on. I'd actually like to do a "let's play", but in the end, I don't have the patience or equipment for something like that.
Looking forward to the scares!

Used to do this, but then the industry decided to move away from releasing everything in November to releasing it all end of September through the beginning of October.

Haven't posted here in forever so prepare for a mega post about everything I've been working on, which probably won't be all that mega considering how little I often have to say about what I'm working on. Anyway!

Megadimension Neptunia V-II

Played pretty much to the end of my first playthrough but haven't finished it because I kind of ran out of steam. The game is very tedious, even for an entry to this series.

The characters are still great, I particularly like S-Sha, who is supposed to represent Squaresoft. She takes a lot of her personality from Squall so one of her running jokes is how everything doesn't interest her. At one point the rest of her group plan to help rescue someone and S-Sha joins them in their enthusiasm much to their surprise. While explaining her reasoning, she mentions. "Besides... [long pause] ...You don't need a reason to help people!" And my instant dorky reaction was along the lines of "*Ahhhehe... She said that line from the game!" There was another funny moment where some other characters went out of their way to prevent her from saying the word "Chocobo"

I even like the changes to the battle system. The new combo system makes building combo loadouts about more than just fitting in the most powerful ones and the game returns to a shared EX Gauge, meaning a lot more special moves. The Giant battles are also a neat deviation from the norm. My main issue is getting around can be a pain when you're constantly thrown into random battles with mobs way below your current level, and the scout system makes getting all the extras a major pain. I will finish it at some point, I'm just not sure when.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies

It's a Phoenix Wright game. It's fantastic. Athena is the best, don't @ me.

Destiny 2

The first of two games I bought on a whim this month. It is fantastic, I've already finished the campaign and now I'm mopping up adventures with my hunter. I even started a second character in case I get bored of endgame content at any point.

Mary Skelter

The second of two games I bought on a whim this month and yet another purchase I don't regret. This one may actually be a contender for GOTY for me. It does a lot of things to make itself stand out from other dungeon crawlers, things like having a strong focus on traps and obstacles (some of which even require a minor mini-game to overcome) and having effects carry over between battles and exploration. Character progression is similar to Dungeon Travelers, where you can change a character's job class and also "spend" acquired levels on permanent stat boosts.

Ys I & II

Finally trying to get into this series. The first two games are chock full of early-'90s unintuitiveness, and I've had to use a guide every once in a while when the game's progression is dependent on some obscure flag I can't quite figure out, but I've had a good--albeit frustrating--time with them.

Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle

S'pretty good. I like the rate at which the battles and available abilities/strategies become more complex, and even though I'm not very good at it I don't feel like the game is ever punishingly difficult like its inspirations. It's also a surprisingly relaxing game. I generally play it when I'm not in the mood for loud noises and flashy visuals.

Senran Kagura: Peach Beach Splash

What an odd duck. It kept selling itself as a new genre for the series, a third-person shooter. But it still very much plays like the Hack n' Slash entries before it, just with a focus on long range weapons/attacks. I've played through about two campaigns now and tried a couple of multiplayer matches. The multiplayer has a decent amount of modes, but like the single-player doesn't feel very special.  The story is also incredibly weak, but then it was even pretty much promoted as filler between Estival Versus and the series' conclusion. I do have the urge to revisit Shinovi Versus after playing it, though, so it at least managed to accomplish that.

Aside from all those, I also popped DQ7 back in my 3DS after getting burnt out (already) on the new Story of Seasons, but I haven't played any more of it yet.

The worst sin an ending can make, especially in video games, and yet one video games seem to love making:

Completely invalidating the actions of the player character and/or all other characters, often in the name of spectacle.

I had a patron get mad at me this morning because our water fountain was "too far away from the front door" and he was too lazy to walk the 40 feet over to it.

I had a customer the other day get huffy with me because I told her I could help her on the next register over after she used her basket to push the "Please Use Other Register" sign out of her way and started unloading her stuff.

Amusing customers/clients/patrons are so much better than genuinely irritating ones.

If they are going for tedious trophies, is there a trophy for getting your boss to say the plan is to kidnap the queen instead of Garnet? I don't remember how many times you had to give the wrong answer before he would say it, but I remember it was incredibly tedious...and that I did it for laughs after reading about it because I had nothing better to do back then. XP

Actually, it was choosing to have Zidane say the plan is to kidnap the Queen. Say it 100 times, and whats-her-face interrupts the meeting to tell Zidane to stop messing around.

Infinite Undiscovery was the perfect name for that game. You run around filling in gigantic maps filled with absolutely nothing.

The problem is MOBA matches last way too long. If you feel like you're stuck on a bad team in something like Overwatch, it's only for 5-10 minutes tops, but MOBA matches can go on for over 20 minutes, and that's a lot of time to feel like you wasted because you feel your teammates aren't pulling their weight.

Not saying I think it's right how toxic those communities are, just saying I can follow where that toxicity stems from.
