Game Journals / Re: A Game Journal Reborn

When I set up my gamepad controls, there was no "fast forward" option for me to assign a button to, anywhere.  T___T
My R2 rotates the camera to the right.

Load the configuration tool before starting the game and go to input the third tab in it.  THere is an option for Turbo Mode it's defulat is ALT or Button 12(normally the Right Trigger), underneath the buttons you can see Field Turbo Rate and Battle Turbo Rate.  This was added in a patch to make sure you have the game updated.

Yep all 3 games on Steam have a button you can set to fast foward in the configuration, R2 by default.  You can even set how fast it moves out of battle and in battle.

Trolls in the Sky 3
But I love the characters, and I love character-building in Trails, so I truly am stoked to get back to it.  Any suggestions from the experts here?

Do all the Star doors especially the one at the end of the pretty easy optional dungeon.  That one, in particular, is very worth your time seeing.  Also using the fast-forward button you can skip just about any cutscene by holding down your confirm button and it.  It helps a ton when skipping things you have seen before.

In said final dungeon of Trails 3rd, can you at least buy new equipment for them and grind before the actual final boss? Because I don't like unwinnable situations in RPGs...

EXP is scaled in Trails(and almost every Falcom game) so that when your low level and kill something high level you gain a ton of exp.  So everyone catches up and gets the required level for that part of the game very fast.  Also, they give you almost all their best equipment for every character in the last dungeon.

Don't feel bad, all the Trails games have broken mechanics in them and some of the bosses require them.  They took Earth Wall out of Cold Steel but then made everything dodgeable and interruptable allowing for more cheese.

Trails in the Sky, the 3rd

...and it was ridiculous.  Seriously ridiculous.  I was not prepared for that and died twice.  My first two game overs.  On the 3rd attempt, though, I had kinda figured out the proper strategy, but...  is there a working strategy that doesn't involve perfectly timing Kevin's Grail Sphere?

Earth wall spam.  Set up someone to cast fast and spam Earth Wall(An Earth Quartz+Onyx(Action) Gem+Time(Cast) Gem+EP Cut 4+EP4), then cast Clock UP EX on them. It basically removes any difficulty from the game.  Almost required if you ever plan to play Nightmare mode

So We just finished Danganronpa 1 through V3 on stream and I am at crossroads on what to play next on stream.  So I made a straw poll of the 3 most popular games so far and will let everyone decide what we should play next. If the top 2 are close maybe we will split days between them.  The vote ends after the end of Sunday's FF14 4.1 stream

The right hand doesn't know what the left is doing half the time.  You're not constantly fighting the damned thing with a controller.

It's the difference between using a tool that was designed specifically for something vs using a device retrofitted to make due.

That's on you, not the instrument.

Like I said:
Quote
Once you learn to play with M&K you never go back.

Mice are more precise instruments then analog sticks or a dpad.

Anyway back to YS VIII.  I am going to wait it out for the PC port instead of caving for the PS4 version.  I almost caved yesterday when I realize I have like 5 games for my PS4 and wanted some reason to use it again.

That being said, if you're planning on playing Ys Origin on the PC/Steam, for the love of god, get yourself a controller. Trying to fumble around with that one boss on a keyboard, even on Normal, is going to be a nightmare.

My god this. M&K is a blight upon gaming to begin with, but I have no idea how they expected anyone to accomplish anything without a controller.
^ funny  a lot of the master race feels the same about controllers, and go ape-shit when a pc game/ port  does not have proper mouse and keyboard support.  I abhor playing anything besides MMOs and CRPGS with a M&K setup.

Yeah there is no way in hell I would ever play a FPS, MMO, strategy game, or a game like Diablo without a M&K.  Controllers have their uses but not in those types of games.  Controllers are terrible for a a lot of games but unfortunately it's all people know.  Once you learn to play with M&K you never go back.

Yeah Guild Wars 2 is easily my favorite MMO.  I love FF14 but man sometimes it lacks in the content department.  Def playing a  lot of PoF when it releases next Friday.

Someone explain the $60 price tag on a PS4 game that looks like a PS2 game.  I get that this was primarily developed with the VITA in mind, but...  I don't know. I guess I expected it to look a little better.

Outside of the Vita part that you already answered, the YS has never been a series that put graphics over gameplay.  90% of the series is sprite based and looks like they would run on a PS1.  Whats more important is that it plays at 60fps since fast combat is a big part of the series.

Sorry about that.  We were in the middle of figuring out a few time schedule changes and have updated the stream times and days to reflect that now.  Caitlin's stream of FF12: The Zodiac Age will be moving to Monday after it's initial broadcast of tonight and I will be streaming a few days per week hopefully starting next week. I hope you continue to enjoy the streams.

I take it back, this expansion story is off the fucking chain. I love it.

THEY HAVE CYAN'S FUCKING THEME!!!!!!!!

Neat fact with a bit of backstory on why Cyan's Theme plays and tiny tiny spoilers for where you currently are in the story(your next quest or two tells you this info).
Spoiler: show
The obvious reason is that it is Doma, the more hidden reason that most American players won't pick up on is that Hien is the son of Cyan.  Kaien is Hien's late father and the original Japanese name of Cyan.  To really cement this home Gotetsu calls Hien Shun which was the Japanese name for Cyan's son in FF6. Who knows we may see Cyan in some kind of flashback in the future because of this.
