Why do I have a feeling that Square Enix in terms of managements is a total dumpster fire?  Seriously, they can't seem to stay on schedule for any of their projects.
To some extent the problem is announcing things LONG before they are ready to be announced (e.g., if I recall correctly, the director for the FF7 Remake wasn't even aware he was directing it till after it was announced). The inability to get anything done in a reasonable time just compounds the problem. I feel like it might be that they have perfectionist directors that are obsessed with maxing out the graphics so high that it takes 3x as long to get anything done than if went with a slightly lower or more stylized graphics, but that is entirely speculation.

Don't they still make their own engines for the AAA games? They seem to get out the unreal and unity stuff pretty quick.

Assuming they didn't blow their whole budget on ep. 1, Run with the Wind is going to be so good.

@Rook My Hero Academia celebrates the tropes of shounen anime while refining the formula where it can. If you outright dislike those tropes, though, I could see it not really resonating with you. It's not like it's trying to reinvent the genre or anything. As a huge fan of shounen who also has been enjoying MHA, I'd argue it doesn't really need to. The passion it put into how its characters are written, how well-thought-out its setting is, and how there has been very little filler, leading to a much more consistantly-entertaining experience that I haven't seen since Hunter x Hunter finished's been easily the most fun out of any series this year that I've seen. Just my two cents.

Funny MHA is in the middle of their tournament arc, I just kept thinking that that yea HxH did this and did it so much better. However, I ended up dropping HxH somewhere in the chimera ant arc b/c I thought the anime just died when Hisoka wasn't on the screen.

So yea, Shonen probably just isn't my thing. Its not that I hate the genre. Blue Seed is one of my all time favs.  FMA and FMAB are in my top 10 (I'm in the minority that I like FMA better though, probably b/c its less shonen-y).  Plus Gintama spoiled me because when they decide to do shonen arcs, they do it better than anyone else IMO.

So I was bored and started watching My Hero Academia and watched about 18 episodes. Shonen isn't my thing but recently its been Grapest anime ever so I'd give it a try. Its fine I guess. However its so paint by numbers shonen that I fail to see what people see in it (dunno: maybe the reason its so popular is becuase its such a paint by numbers shonen). I mean jeez at least do 1 thing different like ship your MC w/ frog girl instead of boring moe girl or something.

Other than that Handebayo is good. I liked the twist in the middle where the MC

turned into a little shit, and I think would be a much more interesting anime if she stayed that way. unfortunately she's going to find redemption through the power of sprots and friendship by the end of the season. bummer.

Oh and AoT its still really good! not sure why its not as popular as it once was. I enjoyed season 2 and Season 3 has been even better (arguably my fav anime of the year). Sure they are dragging out this "mystery" of the Titans but they are doing it well with little reveals with each episode instead of just saving it for say the final 2-3 episodes like some animes do.

XBC2's "final" DLC drop was 15 legendary cores, and the Torna game. So if you are going to buy it and Torna I guess now is the time to play it.

I did get 5 rare blades out of 6 tries with the legendary cores. I do like the gatcha game aspect of it, its just there should be better odds though, considering even getting a good share of rare cores is hard.

On chapter 8 now and blew past the 100 hour mark. Might end up spending more time on this than XCX. Will probably take a break after it and do Torna sometime next year because I just know Torna is going to be at least 60 hours.

I sort of have interest in The Banner Saga, but I've been too disappointed by several critically-acclaimed games to commit to playing those particular titles. I do like some tactical RPGs such as the Disgaea and Valkyria Chronicles series, though.

I think the trilogy is only $40. Trust me its worth every penny. If you like SRPGs it has the IMO best SRPG grid combat system, no permadeath but players get wounded where they are out for a few days/battles.  Lots of varied classes. Art is incredible, Wintory did the soundtrack.  Not sure why (to my knowledge) why there has never been a SRPG/Oregon Trail-like mashup because it really works.

Playing Banner Saga for the first time and I'm having fun so far. Currently at chapter 2 where I got my first use of archers. At the moment warmaster is my favourite class.

Next to Valkyria Chronicles, BS 1-3 is my favorite SRPG.
I'm almost 2 hours in and I've already had some memorable fights and choices to make. Very good so far.

Game choices make the game very replayable if that is your thing. Also for a game that has a bunch of player choice the story is solid.

Edit: The Varl are a pretty interesting race as well.

I'm on chapter 7, 85 hours in. Took a break when Banner saga 3 came out, thankfully you can watch all the cutscenes to catch up and take pictures. Gotta finish it up for the Takahashi finally gets to do a prequel DLC.

you think am gonna use poison on a normal enemy I can kill in 3 normal hits ?

I liked this one.  IDK if you've ever played any Trails games, but Trails of Cold Steel uses status effects really well.

Also, Japan and many other Asian countries are still absurdly sexist, so they have a hard time writing female characters that break trope.

I haven't yet, I heard a lot of great things about the whole series, so am holding out to play them all in order, starting from Trails of Sky then Blue and finally to Steel.

I know there are 3 games even before that, but I'll come back for them when I have the time.

Start with Cold Steel. If you don't like CS you won't like the others.

Finally had an excuse to watch Akira, and it was pretty good. The story fell apart after a while, but I knew about the reasons why going in. At least it's still a technical marvel, very beautiful to look at. I can see why it's considered a classic, that's for sure.

I must have watched it 50+ times but not in the past decade. The 1st 20 minutes are just god-tier anime, then it meanders for the next 2.  The animation tho, still just looks fantastic.

Binged 10 episodes of Saga of Tanya the Evil. Was definitely not expecting to be that good and the animation is amazing.

I didn't think Gintama could pull off an excellent final arc w/ so many characters to shovel in. I should know by now to never underestimate the greatness of Gintama.

Always thought Psycho Pass was underrated. I think its a whole lot better at cyberpunk than Ghost in the Shell.

I think the success of Advance Wars helped too. One reason I got excited for the series was learning in Nintendo Power or some magazine that the games were made by the same devs. A shame there hasn't been an AW title in a decade.

Tiny Metal is an Advance Wars shameless clone and got good reviews.

I've clocked about 80 hours into XBC2 and am still on chapter 6. By the time I'm done I have close to the amount of time I spent with XBCX.

Also about 5 hours into Banner Saga 3 and I already know that its going to by my GOTY. Gameplay, story, character design, graphics, music, it just does everything so damn good. I think I even like the trilogy better than Valkyria Chronicles, which is only the best SPRG I ever played.
