The Helper Monkey / Re: Is my PSP bricked?

I tried this but it didn't work.  Does this normally work with a PSP 3000?

The Helper Monkey / Is my PSP bricked?
« on: July 23, 2017, 04:56:58 PM »
So, I ordered a PSP 3000 about a month ago (along with Trails in the Sky and Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time), though I only played about 6 hours of Growlanser so far, and when I was trying to exit out of the game after a short session, it froze on me so I had to force it to power off.  I try to turn on my PSP earlier today, and although the green light came on, the screen stays off and there's no sound.   I tried everything I could find on Google to get my PSP to re-boot, but it looks like it might be bricked.

Does anyone have any suggestions for me, other than to take it to a repair shop or get a refund?

Don't know if this type of topic is allowed or not, so I apologise in advance.  My PSN name is WeinCruz85 if you wanna friend me.  Currently playing Tales of Xillia and Elder Scrolls: Skyrim, but I'll probably be on FFXIV tomorrow since I have the day off work.

So, for some reason I can't trigger the Conceal, Don't Feel side quest.  I went to the barn northwest of the Three Valleys parking spot and I never hear the hunter's cry for help.  Anyone know what to do?

Well, the good news is I finally got my PS4 (with Final Fantasy XV and Uncharted 4), but the bad news is my current TV is too old and sh*tty to handle it. =x  Can anyone recommend a quality 42'' Smart TV within the $200-$300 range?  I'll try to save for it in the coming weeks. x_x

Congrats on your purchase! You may have to look high and low to find a "quality" 42" in that price range (especially if it's a "Smart TV"), unless you don't mind buying used.

Don't go bargain basement (Element, Westinghouse, Seiki etc.). Often what you find is with the really cheap stuff, their 4Ks looks worse than an avg. 1080p and their 1080p stuff looks worse than a 720p. You'll end up buying a new TV in a year or 2 and so not saving anything. In that price range I love LGs. However any of the established mid-brands (Toshiba, Samsung, Vizio etc.) are very quality. They will also last 10 years.

I agree that you don't want to go super cheap. Like Rook said, you will probably end up with a crappy picture, and some of that good ol' "buyer's remorse". I personally want to like Vizio, but I had one that died in less than 3 years, and a neighbor of mine had one with various picture issues. Could have just been the luck of the draw for us, but I'm not one to gamble... I've had lots of luck with LG and Sony TVs myself, and I've heard great things about Toshiba and Samsung.
I got my TV already. It's a Sharp 43" with Ultra High def, so it should more than suffice.

Anyway, my PSN username is WeinCruz85 if you guys want to add me.  Gonna be playing the hell out of FFXV today. =)

Got my TV for Christmas as a gift, so I was able to get my PS4 profile set up.  My ID is WeinCruz85 if you guys want to add me.  Haven't done much playing yet, however, but I plan on playing through a good chunk of FFXV later this week.

You can start with either Trails in the Sky 1 or Trails of Cold Steel 1. Sky is the start of the series, but Cold Steel is fairly self-contained. You'll recognize some names and gain some additional insight if you've played Sky first, but it's not mandatory. They're both excellent games.
I'll probably start with Trails of the Sky in that case.  I was planning to get a PSP after a PS4 and do some catching up on that console as well next year.  Might start another recommendation topic, even though I already have a good idea of everything I want on it *cough*Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time*cough*.  Just hadn't heard much about the Legend of Heroes games until now.

Single-Player RPGs / Re: Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross

Gotta agree with some of the posts here.  Even though I think Chrono Trigger is an excellent game in its own right, and especially for its time, it's a real shame Chrono Cross gets all the crap it does for not simply being Chrono Trigger 2.  Chrono Cross may be rough around the edges, but I think all the things that it does do well, such as its soundtrack, setting, and overall plot, it outshines Trigger by a considerable margin.  I'd replay it if my PS2 wasn't acting up.

If you're still after PS3 games, have you played Trails of Cold Steel yet?
Do not skip this. As a fan of the series, it's fucking terrific.
I fully recommend Trails of Cold Steel as well. Fantastic game and the sequel Trails of Cold Steel II is probably my game of the year in 2016.
Haven't heard much about the Trails of the Sky games up 'till now.  What order should I play them in if I want to tackle the whole series?

If you would be interested in shooter/RPG hybrids, I believe there's Borderlands: The Handsome Collection and Destiny: The Collection.
Yeah, I never played any of the Borderlands games on PS3, so I'm definitely gonna give this a try, though I don't know if many people play them online anymore.  And I forgot to put Destiny on the list. Glad it has a comprehensive version already.
Skip Star Ocean. As a fan of the series, it's fucking terrible.
Yeah, pretty disappointed in the scores it received, but I think I'll give it a go, anyway.  Star Ocean is probably my favorite RPG series (next to Tales), so I kinda feel obligated.
Favorite PS4 games I've played:
Bloodborne
The Witcher 3
Dishonored Definitive Edition
Dishonored 2
The Last of Us
Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection (Mostly for Uncharted 2)
Uncharted 4
Salt and Sanctuary
I Am Setsuna
Rogue Legacy
Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor
I played the first three Uncharteds, and loved all of them so Uncharted 4's a definite buy.  Gonna grab the Dishonereds, The Last of Us, and Bloodborne while I'm at it.

As for PS3 games, I still need to get Tales of Xillia 2, Disgaea D2, Infamous: Second Son, Bioshock Infinite, and every Assassin's Creed after Brotherhood, as well as all the Atelier and Prince of Persia games for the console, so yeah, lots of catching up to do...

What's up?  This is my first official post on this forum (at least under this username), and I wanted to start by saying I plan on FINALLY getting a PS4 before this Christmas, but I haven't really kept up with the game releases on the console, so I'm at a bit of a loss as to which games to go for first.  My favorite genre of course is RPGs (Japanese or Western), but I also enjoy action games, shooters, and hope to get back into real-time strategy.

So what are your top 10 most reccommended RPGs for the console, and for that matter what are your top 10 most reccommended PS4 games of other genres?  I already plan on getting Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts 2.8, Star Ocean: Integrity and Faithlessness, Fallout 4 (whatever GOTY or DLC-Included edition is out or is slated to be released), and of course Tales of Zestiria and Berseria, but I havent really decided beyond that.
