Single-Player RPGs / Trails/Kiseki Thread! Trails of Whateva
« on: December 20, 2016, 12:30:05 AM »
So Trails of Cold Steel III was just revealed and will be appearing drumroll on Playstation 4 only!  :S

Falcom will not be winning the "most improved award" for their graphics like Gust did for their work in the Atelier series, but the PS4 update creates a nice look for the basic but very clean and pretty 3D models.

Single-Player RPGs / Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary!
« on: December 19, 2016, 05:22:31 PM »

There's a site for it, big announcements surely to follow.
Incidentally, FF7's 10th birthday is a day after.  If I were a betting man I'd say we'll finally see some more stuff on FF7R too.

I would be pleased as punch to talk more FF stuff here while we're at it; as I'm sure many of us are here in some way, shape, or form because of the series.  I'd still love to get around to a game journal for FF8. x)

General Discussions / What's your Favourite Garbage Food?
« on: November 02, 2016, 09:06:43 PM »
We all eat garbage food.  But what's the best one?

These babies.
Mozzarela sticks.  Fried breaded cheese with toe-mah-toe sauce?

(1) Before Sunset
(2) Ingluorious Basterds
(3) Mad Max: Fury Road
(4) Back to the Future II
(5) Dazed and Confused
(6) In The Loop
(7) Kiss Kiss Bang Bang

Honourable Mentions:
> The Silence of the Lambs (would have been there if Mads Mikkelsen's performance in TV Hannibal didn't make me think twice)
> Guy Ritchie's Snatch/Lock, Stock (couldn't pick) (hell, throw Layer Cake in there too for good measure)
> Shawshank Redemption (didn't want to waste a spot on an obviously fantastic film)
> Trainspotting (it's not an easy watch sometimes, but ranks just about everywhere else)
> Just about any John Hughs film, which I watch all the time but doesn't quite hit the tippy-tippy-top.
> Ghibli/Disney, blah blah blah.  A lot of their titles hold a fond space in my heart.
> D2 The Mighty Ducks

General Games / Games so good you got sad when it was over
« on: February 10, 2016, 12:30:04 AM »
So, this is real right....?

I just beat Undertale.  I think I need MORE Undertale because no other game is as funny/clever than it; especially with respect to how it treats multiple playthroughs (or deliberately tracking when you choose to restart a game).

I Beat Xenoblade for Wii and I got sad because no game got me so hooked to exploring every corner of it.

The Last of Us made me sad because you don't get character chemistry so damn good and with such dramatic effect (even despite the simple concept).

I got sad when I rocked Star Ocean 3's secret dungeons because I was the strongest party ever.

Has a game ever made you blue because the excellent experience was over?? :(

RPGFan: Forums / General "Gaming" Section?
« on: December 29, 2015, 02:23:46 AM »
I find it weird when more open-ended game-related questions somehow end up in the general discussions since it's neither RPG nor MMO but the Misc Games section would, to some extent, feel like it nixes off discussion of RPG talk.

I'm just sort of thinking and typing aloud, but I wonder what you all think?  Should there be an added section?  Should we just rename/rearrange the ones we currently have?  Should we do nothing? Or do we, at long last, put in a thread about Cooking?!

Anime, TV, and Movies / The Movie/TV Trailer Thread of Hype
« on: December 15, 2015, 11:27:21 AM »
A few big ones came out, and I think it's a shame we mostly talk about these things in the "Movies you've seen" thread.

Two Trailers, sorta: The Teaser for "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" The "Star Trek Beyond" trailer has met with.... ambivalence. 21 TV spots from around the globe for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" because whiiiiiiieeee

RPGFan: Site / Extremely upset with latest podcast + idea
« on: October 11, 2015, 01:47:25 PM »
How do you do a musical podcast with CASUAL THEMES and OMIT BREATH OF FIRE III'S 'CASUALLY' ??!?!??!?!

Bananas I tell you, absolute bananas!!!

On a serious note (not to say the above ISNT like TOTALLY serious D:) I was wondering, can we do a sort of "rpgFAN request" like what radios do or would that be an issue to implement?  Might be a fun way to involve the fans (even do like a shoutout or quick message themselves).
The Music topic on SocMed was a huge hit, so I was just wondering things.

Single-Player RPGs / Tales of Zestiria

RPGFan Music Discussion / CC/CT Arrange Finally Happening
« on: October 04, 2015, 03:01:19 PM »

And we have preview sound clips.  Honest to god some of these are simply perfect.  I'm a bit iffy on some of the vocals, but overall I think this album shows some extraordinary promise....a distant faraway promise....Hah.

Single-Player RPGs / Project Setsuna (or 'Ikenie to Yuki no Setsuna')
« on: September 15, 2015, 01:19:49 PM »
This is probably the title I want to know most about.  Looks beautiful and gives me the same 'something-old-something-new' vibe that Child of Light did....and, well, they both have a redheaded protagonist.  Still, I was absolutely captivated when it was revealed and I'm happy that the follow-up trailer is still giving me very good feelings about it. :)

Anyways.  The title is said to take influence from oldschool RPG sweeties like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, and Chrono Trigger.  And yeah, I see it, and I likey!

Just noticed, they seem to suffer from Fire Emblem Awakenings 'nofoot' syndrome.
