RPGFan: Forums / Stripping posts older than 5 years
« on: March 29, 2016, 01:43:16 PM »
As most of you are aware, we've had some strange outages on the past 3 Sundays - in an attempt to alleviate this issue, we will be backing up the database, and then using the forum functionality to delete all posts older than 5 years.  I have sincere doubt this will affect anyone, but the plan is to have this done by the end of day tomorrow (Wednesday).

Test - it looks like our posts may have disappeared.  We're looking into it.

RPGFan: Forums / FYI - Possible Outage Time

We need to do a backup of our boards database, so you may see some intermittent outages on the boards.

General Games / Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm
« on: March 12, 2013, 01:54:47 PM »
I won't get to play this until tomorrow, but this is out today!  Kerrigan!

Anyone else going to snag this one?

Single-Player RPGs / Project X Zone
« on: January 21, 2013, 12:38:07 PM »

I tell you what, 2013 is off to a good start for announcements.  I thoroughly enjoyed what of Namco X Capcom I played, and my understanding is this is supposed to be relatively similar.

General Discussions / THQ Assets Auctioned On Jan 22.
« on: January 07, 2013, 03:35:50 PM »

Looks like January 22 marks the date that THQ assets will be sold off.  I'm interested to see what goes where.  EA and WBIE are rumored to be amongst the interested bidders.

General Discussions / Adobe Makes Photoshop CS2 Free
« on: January 07, 2013, 11:36:57 AM »
So, apparently Adobe was tired on the upkeep for the registration servers for Adobe CS2, which is coming up on its first decade of life.  So, they're making it free.

This isn't new or fancy, but it gets the job done and it's great if you just want to do some light graphics work.

General Discussions / Decide My Signature (AKA Quotes Thread)
« on: December 04, 2012, 04:17:25 PM »
OK, so here's the deal:

I love the quote in my signature.  It's a badly translated quote from a Swiss article about one of the players from the Anaheim Ducks getting drunk and threatening to beat a whole bunch of people up "in three minutes".

But there's this NHL lockout thing and the lack of hockey in the US is getting to me.  So I want a new quote for my signature.  I don't care where it's from - but bonus points go to our own forum and RPGs.

However, if you decide that you don't really want to set my signature, just post some of your favorite quotes.

Multiplayer RPGs / SWTOR v2.0 - Now Free-to-Play
« on: November 15, 2012, 03:30:46 PM »
So the servers are still in maintenance mode, but today is the day that SWTOR goes free-to-play.  If you weren't planning on it, it's definitely worth checking out just for going through one of the stories.  Even if it's an MMO, you can play through all of that content solo.

Single-Player RPGs / Barkley Shut Up and Jam Gaiden 2 Coming
« on: November 12, 2012, 07:15:01 PM »

Best news ever.  If you haven't played the first, it's a very, very odd freeware RPG where basketball is outlawed after Charles Barkley did a dunk called the Chaos Dunk and killed hundreds of people.

Since #1's free, it's definitely worth checking out.  But it looks like there's going to be a Kickstarter for the second, though I don't know if I trust these guys enough to give them significant dollars.  We'll see what the target is.

General Discussions / Disney Buys Lucasfilm

So this means that Disney will own Monkey Island and other LucasArts franchises.

Single-Player RPGs / Ragnarok Odyssey
« on: September 14, 2012, 09:29:07 AM »
Whoo, this one is coming soon from XSEED, but I decided that I wanted to spend extra money to import it from THE FAR EAST.  Anyone else excited for this one?

RPGFan: Site / Current Issues With Site

Hi folks,

Our host upgraded the OS on our server and it's causing some issues with the main page.  You'll notice it's trying to download a file instead of opening HTML pages.  We haven't been hacked and there's no chance at damage to your system - it's literally just trying to download index.html (or whatever file you're trying to access.)  Our host was notified and the administrators are working to fix the issue.

Thank you!
