RPGFan Music Discussion / Xenoblade X OST
« on: May 23, 2015, 05:14:36 PM »
Davi reviewed this!

http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/xenobladex/index.html

I talked a lot of skepticism prior to this coming out. I was mistaken. I love this soundtrack. Don't go in expecting anything like the previous Xenoblade, though, because you'll be upset. This is very different, and (IMO) pretty unforgettable music.

General Discussions / Official PS1 Demo Discs-- anyone own them?
« on: April 18, 2015, 06:57:54 PM »
Hi folks. I'm doing a little digging to track down the source of the song in this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2bnC_oWeKo

It's not by Sakuraba (I don't believe), and its not released anywhere else. Odds seem good that it's a contracted piece of music for the US version of the game.

So, I'm trying to see if anyone happens to have the demo disc it came on, the official PS1 demo disc from Volume 2, Issue 9. (or issue #21, June 1999)

Anyone? :)

EDIT:

I lied, it's actually from the French OPM.

General Discussions / Music of the Year 2014!
« on: April 02, 2015, 03:09:20 AM »
As some of you probably already noticed (it's been on the front page for three days and will be through Sunday), we've started our weeklong Music of the Year feature! It's always my style to do things late, but I think we did it pretty well!

http://www.rpgfan.com/features/Music_of_the_Year_2014/Editors_Favorites.html

Our editor's top picks is a part of this feature I'm really proud of. There's a ton of music you can dig into here, and I humbly request that anyone with even the slightest interest check it out! You might find something you missed from 2014!

(and of course, there will be new goodies added every day!)

Anyone have any faves from 2014 they'd want to share?

Why isn't anyone talking about this?

Completely fantastic game. Beat it the other night, started it over almost immediately.

RPGFan Music Discussion / RPGFan Music SoundCloud
« on: March 03, 2015, 03:56:48 PM »
So, one of my favorite hobbies is just lurking on SoundCloud listening to all the crazy stuff that gets posted there. Sketches by some of my favorite artists, alternate versions, chiptune demakes, and all kinds of great music from lesser-known but no less awesome musicians, etc.

So, rather than do all of that basically for myself, I just wanted to share a link to RPGFan Music's SoundCloud, where we also host exclusive songs that we get to debut (like the Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns theme coming tomorrow). If you're looknig for a playlist, give us a follow and listen along! I'll be enlisting the aid of my fellow RPGFM editors to curate this thing, so hopefully we should have a great selection!

Hey everyone! We're trying something new! Feel free to chat about this album here, and do be sure to check out Pat's review of said album:

http://www.rpgfan.com/soundtracks/persona2-ep-psp/

Did you like the new PSP music? Feel it clashed with the old style? I actually enjoyed it, but I also don't have much nostalgia associated with P2 and adore the more modern stuff from the series.

Single-Player RPGs / Darkest Dungeon
« on: February 10, 2014, 05:18:33 PM »
Rob and I ran an interview with these guys a few months ago. They were super nice, and their game is a cool concept.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1460250988/darkest-dungeon-by-red-hook-studios

They just launched their Kickstarter, over halfway to the goal in one day. Absolutely adore that art style and the whole breakdown of the game. Hoping it turns out well!

The Soundroom / PROJECT DESTATI

I DON'T KNOW WHAT THIS IS BUT JUST LIKE LORRAINE BAINES-MCFLY, I'M GONNA FIND OUT.

edit:

I suspect it might be an orchestral arrangement from the same folks that were responsible for Pokemon Reorchestrated (the Kanto Symphony).

The Bazaar / Selling some random stuff
« on: May 24, 2013, 03:47:24 AM »
So, I'm trying to lighten the load, and I'm looking to sell some of the below stuff. Make me an offer if you want something.

Quote

- Xbox 360 Pro (20gb). Not an original, but a replacement unit M$ sent me after I bitched at them on the phone for about two weeks that my console red-ringed after the four year magic period was up. I never use it for anything.

- Gameboy Advance SP w/power adapter

- The Last Story first-print edition (with all the goodies). It's out of wrap, but has never been used.

- Persona 2: Eternal Punishment psx (good condition, would have to be a good offer for this one :)

- Phantasy Star Online Episode III: CARD Revolution

- Suikoden Tierkreis (Japanese)

- Kingdom Hearts re:Coded (Japanese)

- Dark Souls PS3 first-print collector's edition (soundtrack code has been turned in, but if you want it I can send you mp3s)

- Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter (PS2)

- Arc the Lad: Twilight of the Spirits (PS2)

- Skies of Arcadia Legends (Gamecube)

- Chrono Trigger (Japanese Famicom version) used, but wrapped and in original box. Bought from an electronics store in Akihabara

Multiplayer RPGs / Soul Sacrifice (demo and stuff)
« on: April 23, 2013, 07:31:37 PM »
So yeah, anyone else play this? I'm really liking it. It feels like a fusion between Phantasy Star Portable, Monster Hunter, and-- most importantly, PHANTOM DUST.

I'm really impressed with the demo and it seems like the full game will have a pretty extensive array of customization options. Anyone else try it out?
