Game Journals / 2017 Backlog Journey
« on: January 03, 2017, 05:54:44 PM »
I think for 2017 I will start my backlog journey. You know you have a problem when someone ask what's your top 10 games of 2016 and your wondering if you even played 10 games =.=

New goal: Finish at least 10 games. I plan on finishing 10 games and blogging about it in here and make video reviews of all or most of them.

I'm not sure how much details I should give seen the other post people have made as an example.

Games that I would like to finish:
  • Syberia 3 - Played the first one didn't finish the second one. One of the best point-and-click games I've ever played. The game was originally announced for December 2016 but got pushed back to Q1 2017
  • I am Setsuna - An alright game I'm right at the end so I need to finish this game.
  • Ara Fell - Played so far 2 hours of the game. So far its going well. I plan on writing a review for it on GameFAQ's, an FAQ guide and a video review (yeah big project). At least its an indie game.
  • Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana - I'm probably 6 hours into this game
  • Suikoden Tierkreis - 3 or 4 hours into this game
  • Suikoden II - Maybe 5 hours into this game
  • Final Fantasy VIII - I don't know why I cant finish this game. Kinda sad must of started the game 3 or 4 times and never finish it
  • Start the Ys series - Played none of them
  • Start Agarest series - Played the intro to the first one and that was it
  • Shadow Hearts: From the New World - Just so I can complete the trilogy
  • Arc the Lad II - Played maybe 8 hours
  • Trails in the Sky SC - Started maybe 4 hours or less.
  • Xanadu Next- saw it on steam and looks cool
  • Silence - A point-and-click game that looks really good

I'm sure there will be other games that will distract me this year. Mostly Syberia 3 (whenever that is) and the new Dragon Quest. 2016 no lie was pretty good for RPG's so I'm thinking 2017 will be a little less chilled and maybe I can do some catch up.

Anyway currently playing FFV (streaming that one Wednesday) and Ara Fell.

FFV is alright. I don't hate it but I can see how its one of the forgotten Final Fantasies. My favourite character in that game in Galuf. Biggest gripe the worlds could of looked a little different.

Ara Fell - So far game is alright. The character drawings are a little bleh but its kind of a cute game. And the controls totally wonky. I keep running in to everything. Like the whole floating island aspect. Pretty original haven't played a game like that with that environment.

Lot of other little interesting things too. Apples increase your HP by 5 I think permanently. There's room to explore even in peoples homes. The bookcases have lore and you can find chest in different places like homes, near rivers, farms, etc. I thought it was silly in Trail of the Sky there were items that look like treasure chest but totally wasn't =.=

Single-Player RPGs / Atelier Shallie, a slight step backwards?
« on: October 09, 2016, 12:09:00 AM »
So recently I've been playing Atelier Iris: Eternal of Mana and Atelier Shallie. So far I am really enjoying Atelier Iris because I feel like its following a story. These recent Atelier games that came out on the PS3, I feel like they focus on crafting so much that I don't get a story out of it. Although I thought the balance of craft and story was better in Ayesha and Escha and Logy, but for Shallie I feel like I'm back in Arland again; crafting for no real purpose to the story. Maybe I shouldn't of picked the green hair Shallie?

General Discussions / Starting a business
« on: June 20, 2016, 03:52:28 PM »
So I thinking of starting a business selling herbal loose leaf tea and maybe some ceramics along the side like bowl, cups, teapots, etc. I want to start small like in a flea market and then maybe work my way up. The thought of this is really stressful but I hope I can manage. What do you guys think of the name Natures Gift?

Has anyone on here had their own business or currently own one? Any advice?

General Discussions / Too many cut scenes @_@
« on: June 17, 2016, 10:01:44 AM »
I am playing Return to PopoloCrois and I am almost done and thought this game I have experience too many cut scenes. Which is a weird feeling because I don't think I have ever had a problem with a game having too many cut scene but I am actually kinda burnt out from watching so many cut scene from this game. I feel like I watch more cut scene than I actually played the game its weird.

General Discussions / Should a game ever have auto battles?
« on: June 01, 2016, 04:17:49 PM »
So currently I am playing though The Return to PopoloCrois and this game has auto battles. The battles are incredibly easy, so easy that I have auto battle turned on 98% of the time. The only time I turn it off is if a boss does a lot of AoE damage or a status effect like confuse hits most of my team. As convenient auto battles are I feel a disconnect from the game I'm playing, to the point where I rather have a more tactical or interactive battle system or no battles at all. Auto battles in PopoloCrois is a little different from most older games that had an auto system. PopoloCrois auto system literally starts upon a fight and you don't click anything.
Other games I've played with auto battles are Suikoden 1, Suikoden 2 (i think it had it), Pier Solar and Lunar 1.

Anyone else know of games with auto battles? Do you like auto battles? Convenient? Or too easy that its a nuisance? Write your opinion and thoughts.

General Games / Overwatch an expensive version of TF2
« on: May 02, 2016, 09:34:58 PM »
So I am watching people stream The Overwatch and while I have no doubt in my mind I will like the game because they have a lot of classes and gameplay modes. In less than 5 minutes I notice how this game reminded me of Team Fortress 2. Now I get the feeling really I'm just paying for an expensive version of TF2. I guess its not a bad thing since I haven't played TF2 in years and its a pretty outdated game. But I feel like people are seriously over hyping this game when all it seems to be is a nice version of the game. As I said earlier I am sure the Overwatch is going to be a good game, maybe even great. And I am sure they will add elements to the game that make it unique but so far all I see is TF2.

General Discussions / The 3D on the 3DS
« on: April 26, 2016, 07:54:34 AM »
Anyone here find the 3D feature to be so gimmicky? Not that I have very many 3DS games but most of the time the 3D has to be perfectly align or else it starts looking crazy. It hurts my eyes and probably because I need to wear glasses. And I've never seen a game really take advantage of the 3D aspect for me to really even keep it on. Don't get me wrong I think the feature is cool but half of the time I don't bother with it.

Is there any way there could be a list on the forums that you guys update of the games that we suggest for the podcasts and the stream. I would like to suggest a few games but I have no idea if anyone mentioned it prior. Maybe something you update once a month? Just a thought.

General Discussions / Reviewing a bad game
« on: April 18, 2016, 11:00:33 AM »
I've been reviewing games personally and putting them on I'm currently playing a game that I want to review but its really bad. My question is to anyone who has played and reviewed a bad game is how long will you play that game until you feel the need to complete a review? And when I say a bad game I mean out of a score of 10 the game is probably anywhere from a 1-3 kind of bad. Thanks.

Single-Player RPGs / Arc the Lad
« on: January 13, 2016, 11:28:36 AM »
So I finally bought a PS2 game on the PS4. It is currently on sale if your a PlayStation Plus member so I got it. I remember playing this game back in high school and enjoying it. Also last year I played the original Arc the Lad on PS1. I want to beat the second one as well so I can watch the Arc the Lad anime that goes with the two games.

Anyone else played Arc the Lad? Thoughts? Feelings?

Multiplayer RPGs / MMO's with heavy crafting + unique classes.
« on: January 13, 2016, 10:35:06 AM »
I'm getting back into MMO's recently and I was wondering if anyone could recommend MMO with heavy crafting or a unique class. I'll list a few MMO's that I've liked over the years that either had unique classes and/or crafting.
  • Emil Chronicle Online - Two reasons why I used to play this game. For starters they had unique classes. Aside from the typical melee, range or magic class. They also have a merchant class and gatherer classes. Gatherers had three jobs, farmer, miner and ranger and as you can tell you can craft with those three gatherer classes.
  • Uncharted Waters Online - I don't know how I found out about this game but I loved it due to the fact that I could be a trader, craft a lot of items and sail the world. As far as classes go theres only three: Maritime, Trader, Adventurer. I picked trader for the crafting and trading.
  • Wakfu - Really got into this when they made it f2p and brought it over to steam. For sure the classes are unique. Currently I am a masquerader in that game but I've tried other classes as well. I guess what caught my attention about this game was the battle system. There is crafting in this game but its time consuming. I'd rather just sell drops I get.

I guess I really enjoy crafting and trading. Especially crafting, there's something enjoyable about gathering mats and making something. Things that I hate about MMO's are boring fetch quest (I think we all hate those) and typical classes such as mage, archer, fighter, etc. Its not that I hate those classes but I get bored with them pretty quickly and those classes are practically in every MMO. I hope all of this made sense.
