Single-Player RPGs / Suikoden 5
« on: April 06, 2017, 12:43:28 AM »
Hello folks! Long time no see.

I just started playing Suikoden 5. I've never played the series before, but it was well reviewed on this site and I was looking for something new.

I'm about 3 hours in and I feel like I've been watching one giant cutscene. How long until the game actually starts? I'm willing to give it another hour or two, but this is getting ridiculous.

I'm at the Sacred Games right now.

Does it get more interactive if I stick with it?

Single-Player RPGs / Void Pyramid
« on: April 04, 2016, 09:45:01 PM »
Hey folks! It's been a while but I wanted to drop in and let everyone know that I made a new game. It's called Void Pyramid. It's a post-apocalyptic RPG set in the spacefaring Egyptian empire. It's been in development for 18 months and is available for free on PC, Mac, Android, and OUYA. It has all original graphics and music, as well as a unique setting and mechanics.

I've been working really hard on Void Pyramid and have been testing it exhaustively. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.

You can visit here to see some screenshots and download it on PC or Mac. Or you can get it on Google Play.

There is also a video trailer.

Some features include:

*Choose to be a soldier, slave, or scribe. Overcome challenges with your unique skills.

*Explore the intricately designed pyramid. Each chamber is packed with foes, puzzles, traps, treasures, and other interesting stuff.

*Develop your character however you want with an unusual but intuitive advancement system.

*Use your brawn, wits, and agility stats to kick down doors, bend bars, hack computers, haggle with merchants, dodge traps, scale walls, and more.

*Find numerous solutions to every problem. Explore multiple paths through the pyramid. Experience alternate endings. Fight optional bosses. Discover hidden treasures.

*Experience a unique vision of the future. In the spacefaring future, the Egyptian empire has risen again. The Prime Pharaoh’s mutant armies oppress mankind.

Thanks again for trying it! I look forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences.

Single-Player RPGs / I made a game: Ramble Planet
« on: May 23, 2014, 08:51:39 PM »
Hello folks. It's been a while since I posted, but I've stopped in once again for your important critical feedback. I've been developing a game called Ramble Planet using the OHRRPGCE game creation engine for about a year and half and have recently released the first complete version.

To summarize the game: Your spaceship has crashed on a planet that is both a hostile frontier and a trendy tourist destination. You need to search the world for parts to fix your ship and return home. The focus of the game is on exploration and discovery, but there are some streamlined RPG elements.

Its features include:

*Free-roaming exploration of a sprawling world.
*Numerous puzzles and secrets.
*3 playable alien races with unique agendas.
*Groovy original music.

You can download see screenshots and download the PC version here: http://www.slimesalad.com/forum/viewgame.php?t=6028. The PC version contains an illustrated instruction manual.

Or you can download the free Android version on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ohrrpgce.rambleplanet

Please give Ramble Planet a try and tell me what you think. I've gotten really good advice from this forum in the past, and am looking forward any suggestions you might offer.

I hope you enjoy the game.

Single-Player RPGs / I made a game) Dreg Sector: The Tract
« on: March 25, 2013, 10:27:23 PM »
I've recently created an expansive RPG using the OHRRPG creation engine. I haven't posted in a few years, but I received great feedback on this forum concerning some of my previous games (some of you might recall Rescue at Grisly Gulch and Castle on the Nightland). If any of you feel compelled, please try my new game and let me know what you think. It's been tested extensively, but bug reports, typos, and criticisms are very welcome! The game runs in Windows.

The game is called Dreg Sector: The Tract.

Welcome to The Tract, a lawless fringe sector populated by pirates, smugglers, scavengers, and merchants. Hostile worlds wait to be discovered and plundered by daring spacefarers. Delve for salvage in perilous acidic oceans and void rifts. Navigate a bureaucracy of greedy traders and petty officials. Outfit your fleet with advanced gear and ace crewmen and conquer the stars.

Features:

*A complete RPG with 4-6 hours of play time.
*Build a fleet from 10 different ships with 14 different special weapons.
*Earn your fortune trading, stealing, scavenging, discovering, battling, marrying, or bounty hunting.
*30 strange worlds to explore and exploit.
*Free roaming progression.
*Stylish vintage graphics.
*Unique original music.

Single-Player RPGs / I made a game: Castle on the Night Land
« on: March 14, 2011, 12:56:40 PM »
For those that might be interested, I've written another game using the OHRRPGCE engine. This one is a an old school adventure game with mazes, inventory puzzles, and monochrome graphics. The premise is that you are mysteriously transported to a decrepit castle crawling with undead monsters and must devise a means to escape. Depending on how clever you are, it can be beaten in an hour or so. It's very much inspired by the old DOS game Castle Adventure.

You can download the game and view some screen shots here:

Send me any typos, bugs, or feedback. Thanks for playing!

General Discussions / Game books
« on: June 06, 2007, 04:50:17 PM »
Recently I was inspired to write my own game book (which is basically a Choose Your Own Adventure but longer and with combat, inventory, and RPG statistics). So I started digging up some old game book series in .pdf form on the internet to get some ideas. I'd really been into Joe Denver's Lone Wolf series when I was younger so I checked out his Freeway Warrior series (mostly a Mad Max rip off) and had a lot of fun with it. It has some relatively detailed statistics (for the medium) and some pretty interesting resource management challenges. I might try the Blood Sword series next. I'm pretty excited about their (apparently) insane difficulty.

Is anyone else interested in game books around here? Do you have any favorite series?

If you're interested in some more info on them, wikipedia "game book", or you can download some at
