Single-Player RPGs / Re: Nier 2 for PS4

No other video this E3 made me feel like I wanted to be the one holding the controller and playing like that boss battle clip.

Highlight of the show for me, even with The Last Guardian and the new Zelda present.

Yes. Slowly but assuredly we're getting more JRPGs on the PS4.

When it comes to Star Ocean I never really liked the characters, music or the story but I always enjoyed their battle systems immensely. Looking forward to this one.

As for Miki's design I think I like how cartoonishly goofy she looks in this one scan

If this is old, sorry, but Soul Hackers has been discounted everywhere, including digital. Now it's $29.99.
This offer will end tomorrow, 14th of July. So anyone who wants to purchase this game with the $30 you get from the FE:A + SMTIV promotion deal... tough luck :P

They better do this right!

Not sure if this is the right place to discuss this, but here goes...

Also, here's a survey from SE asking how much you liked the world, visual design and main character:

Looks phenomenal. I think it's a good idea for Square Enix to focus on the Luminous Engine and start their next gen endeavor with a bang. I somehow wish they'd scrap Versus XIII and focus on this instead, if they haven't already done that.

Honestly, there's nothing the current gen consoles really offers that'll make SMT any better; the games go for stylized art rather than realism and I don't think the current technology would do anything other than smooth out some edges. The PS2 was pretty good at rendering models very close to the original artwork, and we've seen that the handhelds are as powerful as the PS2, if not moreso. Unless you are really just that averse to handhelds, I'd say give this game a chance - it did, after all, JUST get announced.

Actually, the PS2 renders were nothing like the artwork. There is big room for improvement presentation-wise.

doesn't look like they're ready yet.

"We do know that the game won't be at E3 next week - CD Projekt will not have a booth at this year's show." -

Correct.  I confirmed with their PR after the actual announcement, and it will not be at E3.  Maybe Gamescom?

Oh, I see. They can take their sweet time with this one, though.

Here's an article about it

It's not just a "cyberpunk" game, it's apparently based on R. Talsorian Games' pen-and-paper roleplaying game Cyberpunk.

Can't freaking wait. I hope the peeps at CDP are the ones to finally do the genre justice, especially since they'll probably call the game "Cyberpunk".

In any case, expecting to see this in some form at E3.

CDP and Cyberpunk?

Since SMT IV is coming out for the 3DS I'm betting on Persona 5 coming out for PS3/360. Atlus has definitely shifted its priorities from the main series to the Persona sub-series, which is understandable, albeit disappointing.

I'm still not sold on either handheld, but this might convince me to finally get a 3DS over a Vita.

I'm really okay with this.

Cause this looks like the real deal. God I'm glad I own a 3DS.

Can't tell shit from this, but find it mesmerizing for some reason. Hype.

Single-Player RPGs / Re: disappointed of new generation rpgs.....
« on: May 24, 2012, 04:55:24 PM »
I do feel disappointed with today's RPGs. I still have fun playing them, but I don't get wowed as often like I did for the SNES, PSX, or PS2. To put it simply, the 2nd or 3rd tier quality RPGs for those systems, the kind that are still fun, is the best today has to offer. I suppose this isn't a big deal if you like Western made RPGs since I feel like their quality almost never elevated itself out of 2nd or 3rd tier and they're still plugging along today. But for RPGs of Japanese origin, they really have taken a big hit.

Not sure I agree with what you have to say regarding Western RPGs, but the rest I can't argue against. JRPG-wise, this gen was a huge step down from the previous 2. And even though a few gems of the past few years can be found on handhelds, it says a lot about the state of the genre that developers are retreating to that lower-budget/less-risky market for the more innovative projects. And we haven't got a single SMT title for current gen home consoles yet...

But then again, the Souls games are better than most JRPGs I played ever. Truly the genre's saving grace for this gen.

So who wants to place bets, what will come out first? Versus or Beyond Good and Evil 2?  I'm voting on BG&E2.
I'll go with The Last Guardian.
