So Tite Kubo did a one-shot for Jump that was published last week. While better than the mess that was the latter half of Bleach, it was still pretty bad. I realize heís not really relevant any longer, but if any of you are curious then let me just recommend you skip it.

I finished Bravely Second over the weekend. Here are my final thoughts: The story is good, and less repetitive than the first game's, but at the same time I'm not sure it was as strong as Bravely Default's. I did like how they incorporated the player more this time. The first game was pretty subtle about it, but this one was very overt. The battle system is still just as fun as the first game, but the job system has been downgraded somewhat. It's still fun, and you can develop some pretty powerful characters, but not as good as the first game. The change from 14 job levels to 11 also nerfed some of the old jobs slightly, which was disappointing. In the first game I had a dual-wielding, Dark Knight Tiz, who, with sword magic, could deal around 15,000 damage with a regular attack. I wasn't quite able to do that this time around, but it was still enjoyable nonetheless. The new jobs were mostly disappointing, or simply rehashes of older jobs. I liked Guardian and Exorcist. Hawkeye was okay. Yokai was really just a higher-powered Black Mage because of the -ja spells, and Kaiser, while kind of cool, was very much a double-edged sword.

All in all, I give it an 8 out of 10.

Final jobs:

Yew was Yokai with Time Magic. I'm glad I went that route because Reraise was essential for the last boss fight.

Edea was a Valkyrie with Shamanism. This turned out okay, but the last boss had a dispel skill that kind of made it less useful. Jump is still great and Edea went mostly untouched damage-wise because of it. If I did it again I would probably swap Shamanism for Martial Arts to amp up her attack power somewhat.

Magnolia was a Guardian with Shamanism. Worked out well, but same problem as above with the dispel. I would swap Shamanism with the Dark Arts if I were to play it again because Guardian has high HP and the final boss is weak to dark attacks.

Finally, Tiz was a White Mage with Astral Magic. If I would have known about the dispel though I probably would have gone White Mage with Catmancy to increase his attack options, or possibly Exorcism because of the Tongues command.

Iíve made it to the Celestial Road in Bravely Second. Iím assuming this is the last area. Iím over-leveled because of grinding jobs, but thatís okay. It made the most recent boss fight easy, and after 85 hours, Iím cool with that.

Jobs: So I ground out jobs so that at least one character had reached level 10 for each job. Iím feeling good about my setups, though the job system has definitely been nerfed, if only slightly.

Yew is currently a Wizard, but his endgame will be Yokai. Iím not sure what I did so right with him, but once I have Sorcerer to level 11, heíll have all but Red Mage of his jobs ďlegendaried.Ē Thatís Yokai, Summoner, Black Mage, Time Mage, and Freelancer all at level 11. And it shows because he can easily do max damage each time he attacks.

Edea is a level 11 Valkyrie with Shamanism. Final.

Magnolia is a level 11 Guardian with Shamanism. Final.

I have Tiz as Catmancer currently. Really none of the level 11 skills looked interesting for the jobs he has mastered, so Iíve been learning the last Catmancer skills from the enemies here. Iím thinking his endgame job will be White Mage with Astral Magic, but weíll see.

So sorry for your loss, Annubis. My mother passed in 2012, and it was incredibly hard. Iím sorry youíre not getting any support from your family; I canít imagine how it would have been without support from my own family. If you need to talk to someone, just let me know.

No progress story wise in Bravely Second, but I did beat Belphegor. Turns out it had a rolling elemental weakness. Once I honed in on that I was able to kill him no problem. I had Yew using summons, so he was all-purpose, and I equipped both Edea and Magnolia with Shamanism so they could use Warhead and help out. I then swapped Tiz back to Astrologian to counter Sloth. It took a while, but it worked out.

I'm going to tackle Lucifer next. I'm going to try using Soul Mirror to counteract the counterattacks though I'm not sure if it can reflect counterattacks. We'll find out! I'm not sure how to beat Satan as I don't think I have anything that will nullify the all-Berserk skill he uses. I'll look into that more after Lucifer is done.

Jobs-wise, I think I've decided on the endgame jobs for all but Tiz. I'm going to have Yew be Yokai because of the -ja level spells (interestingly enough I've been working on some Old English and reviewed -ja stem nouns the past couple of days, so that was a unique coincidence). I'm going to stick with Valkyrie with Edea as it is still the powerhouse it was in the first game. I think I'm going to go with Guardian for Magnolia as it's pretty powerful and has some useful skills to amp it up. Not sure where I'll go with Tiz. I really like the sound of Exorcist, but it's hard to deny that level 11 Astrologian skill. I'll keep working on it.

In the meantime, Yew is working on mastering Yokai, Edea is working her way through Templar, Magnolia is on Kaiser, and Tiz is doing Patissier. I'm not sure how I like Kaiser. While useful, a lot of its skills could bite back if you're not careful. And I hate Patissier. Too much work for too little gain, but I'd like to have each job mastered by at least one character so...

There's definitely a problem with speciesism in the Redwall books, but they're still pretty enjoyable. I never made it further into the series than Pearls of Lutra, but I've been thinking of continuing them since they're pretty fun and not too much of a commitment. I bet they'd be nice to relax with during the semester...

A little over 70 hours into Bravely Second now. I spent the last ten hours getting the Templar and Yokai jobs, defeating some of the Yokai beasts, and running around for Catmancy/Mastery skills. Before I proceed with the story, I'm going to go to the various dungeons/areas that have blue chests and get the items in those. Once that's finished, I'm going to take another crack at some of the Yokai beasts. I defeated four of them, but am having trouble with the other three. I'm hoping leveling up will help somewhat though I imagine I'll probably need to set up the party in a specific way as in some of the harder fights in the first game.

Jobs (all mastered jobs mentioned are only to level 10, not 11):

Yew has mastered Black Mage, Summoner, Sorceror, Red Mage, and is now working on getting Freelancer to level 10. I want to move him to Yokai next, but I'd like to have all the beasts defeated. Maybe the trick is to use the Yokai beasts against each other?

Edea is currently working on mastering Charioteer. She has mastered Valkyrie, Knight, Fencer, and Hawkeye.

Magnolia is working on Merchant. She has mastered Guardian, Dark Knight, Hawkeye, and Ninja.

Tiz is currently working on Catmancer. He has mastered White Mage, Bishop, Exorcist, and Astrologian.

Not sure what my final party will be jobs-wise. I think it may have to do with whatever level 11 skill looks most enticing as I don't think I want to grind anything beyond Freelancer and one other for each party member.

Been on vacation, so I haven't updated in a while, but I did get to play a lot of Bravely Second!

I'm a little over 60 hours in. I really liked the mid-game puzzle that leads you into Chapter 5, though I hate to know what would have happened if you didn't do what you're supposed to do. Would it make you go through the first four chapters again? Regardless, this is much better than going through everything several times as in Bravely Default. I've decided they definitely nerfed the job system somewhat (not to mention some of the jobs), but it's still pretty complex and fun.

Jobs talk:

Yew has mastered Summoner and Black Mage. He's currently working on mastering Sorceror. Not sure what I'm thinking his main job will be. I'm thinking Summoner, but we'll see.

Edea is currently a Hawkeye and is close to mastering it. She has mastered Valkyrie, and that will probably be her main job since it doesn't seem to have been as nerfed as some of the other jobs. It's hard to nerf Jump after all.

Magnolia is currently a Ninja. She has mastered Dark Knight and Guardian. Dark Knight seems the most nerfed to me so far. I'm not sure what I'll do as her main job. Guardian is pretty great though, so I may go with that.

Yew is currently a Bishop and is close to mastering it. He has mastered White Mage and that will probably be his main job.

They've made some changes to the Discord to help those of us that weren't feeling it. Perhaps give it a shot now and see what you think? I'm liking it a lot more now, personally.

And even more BS! (Heehee.)

I've made it to the Skyhold, fought Rev, got the Guardian asterisk, fought Janne, and am now at the save point in the second part of the dungeon. According to the game, I'm over-leveled for this area, but the enemies here are pretty powerful, so I'm having to stay on my toes. Before I go to what I assume may be a fight with the Kaiser, I'm going to see if it will allow me to explore the other side of the dungeon.

Prior to that I did the sidequest at Grand Ship. The decision wasn't as tough as some of the other side quests because I really wanted Dark Knight. Not going to lie, I may have thrown some impoverished orphans under the bus to get it, but things appear to have worked out for them. Though part of me is now wishing I had gone with the Time Mage because I'm encountering enemies that use Stop in the Skyhold. Ah well.

Yew made it to level 8 as a Summoner. I was going to swap him to Exorcist to get MP Recover, but found that the enemies in the Skyhold are doing enough damage per turn that Convert MP is covering him just fine, so I went back to Black Mage to get that to level 8. After the Skyhold I may move him to Exorcist, but for now everything is working out.

I got Magnolia to level 9 Freelancer, but decided to hold off getting her to level 10 for the time being because Dark Knight. I swapped her to Knight briefly just to get Two-Handed, and then made her a Dark Knight. I may need to look at my setup in BD to see how I was using the Dark Knight because I was using them very effectively before and I don't remember how. For now I'm going to get her to level 8, and then swap to something else. Probably Guardian because that looked interesting.

Edea made it to level 8 as a Valkyrie and this gave her Spear Lore. I decided this would be a good time to switch her to Freelancer at least long enough to get JP+. She's only at level 6, so I have a ways to go.

Tiz is still an Exorcist. Still a very useful job. Leaving him here until level 8 at least.

More Bravely Second!

I finished up the stuff in Sagitta Village and just finished the two boss battles in the Water Temple. I knew that the Kaiser must have some way to control Agnes though we still don't know how he's doing it. All the crystals are going nuts now, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the story goes from here.

Job wise I currently have Yew back as a Summoner to bring that up to Level 8. After that I'll switch him to Exorcist to at least get that MP Recover skill, and go from there.

Magnolia reached level 7 Hawkeye, and not having any other jobs I currently want her to perform I switched her to Freelancer, and I've just left her like that for a while. She's getting close to level 9 Freelancer thanks to the JP+ skill. I may go ahead and take her all the way to level 10 and then go back to her other jobs.

I got Edea all Red-Maged to Revenge and then swapped her to Valkyrie. Even though it isn't called Dragoon any more, it is still up there as my favorite FF/BD job (Jump has saved my ass more times than I can count in a number of different games). I'm just going to leave her here for now.

I abandoned Astrologian with Tiz because of my recently acquired Exorcist job. It's incredibly useful. Not only does it have the MP Recover skill, but the battle commands are great. I used all that I have currently (Undo HP, Undo Action, and Purgation) in the Water Temple boss battles. And MP Recover made it so that I didn't have to worry about Tiz's MP while healing at all, and I was even able to share my MP with Yew without any problems whatsoever. I'm not deep into the job yet, but I think it's already my favorite of the new jobs available in this game. I'm going to leave Tiz here for now.

That is adorable, Jimmy.

That's what I go for, haha!

Iím putting this here because itís a TV movie based on a TV show.

My wife and I watched Hey Arnold! The Jungle Movie today. We were pleasantly surprised by it, though some of the aside stuff made us scratch our heads. It was definitely a different tone than the show, but with it being fourteen or fifteen years, thatís hardly surprising. And they may have figured they could do some things differently as the original audience has grown up.

Despite that they were able to recapture the magic where it counts and it was fun to see all those lose threads get tied up. I actually cried a few happy tears.

The wife and I went and saw Incredibles 2 last night. We loved it even though I still think the first one is a bit better. Definitely worth the 14 year wait.

I played a bit of Bravely Second over the weekend. I finally left Florem to go to Sagitta Village. While in the woods leading to the village Yew reached level 7 as Black Mage, Magnolia reached level 7 as Hawkeye, and Tiz reached level 7 as Bishop. I switched Yew back to Summoner to get that up to level 7, and Magnolia back to Red Mage to get that to level 7 because Revenge. I switched Tiz back to Astrologian to get that up to level 7. I'm going to have him focus on Bishop and Astrologian for the time being as he's my primary healer. At some point I'll move him back to Red Mage because Revenge. Edea is currently a Knight, and once she gets that up to level 7 I'll likely switch her back to Fencer or Hawkeye. I'll eventually need to swap her to Red Mage to get Revenge and other BP+ skills as I'm planning on taking her the Valkyrie/Templar route like I did in the first game.

Don't have much time to play again this week, so my sole denizen of the village is continuing work on reclaiming the damaged areas while the 3DS is in sleep mode. He should be finished with the last reclamation project by Friday morning. My wife and I will be traveling next week, so I'll be taking the 3DS with me to see if I can find him some friends.
