Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIV: ARR, a Thread Reborn

I know the RPG fan editors are fans of FF14 but I never imagined it would win best story. I've only played the free trial but it seemed like generic MMO story to me. Nowhere near SWTOR and not even on par with Guild Wars 2 which have at least some spoken dialog and dialog choices. And I don't think SWTOR is as good as a single player RPG so how can this that seemed much worse be so good? Does the story really take off later? Or is it just FF14 fanboyism?

How is this game for people who have little to no experience with this kind of game? I did play a bit of BG and IWD but I didn't manage very well. I never played pen and paper games and I am not the one who wants to pause for every fight. If I play on easy do you think it will be playable?

I have not played regular Rorona but the time management in Rorona Plus is a lot easier than Meruru Plus. I found it to be aost as easy as Escha so I think they did rebalance it. Starting with Totari would make it really hard. I would say Rororna Plus or any of the Dusk games are easy enough to start with.

they fixed the glitch if you have a save before it happend.

also they hinted that the next dlc will involve darkspawn/deep roads so i hope our warden will make an appearance.

I've played 20 hours after that happened so going back to a save before that even if I had one would not be an option.

I can wait until they add the Black Emporium.

Any news on when theu will add the ability to change your character's look and voice? I had the voice change bug before they fixed that and I am still waiting for them to add a way to change it back. It was supposed to be out with Patch 5 but seems it is still not even in Patch 6. Not been playing for a few months because I am still waiting for them to fix everything. Maybe around Patch 12 or so I can go back...

It has faults but I still liked it more than 9 but not as much as 7.   It gets more hate than it should just because it is so different. Having no MP and enemies leveling with you so being level 30 is better than 100 but the junction system is interesting, the card game much easier to understand and fun to play than in FF9, the characters and their personal story is much better than most games.

Atelier Shallie is out but no one here is talking about it. I've not played much yet but it seems like it will be another good game. It is different to play not having any time mechanic but Iam starting to get used to it. The two stories seem ver different from each other unlike Escha & Lodgy where they meet up right away I am in chapter 2 and have not teamed up with the other Shallie yet. From what I hear the stories are much more different this time so replaying is pretty much a must.

The only thing to point out is that there is a bug that makes the game crash when opening the Growth System menu that you unlock at level 40. A patch is one the way and people say you can finish the game without it (you'll just be less powerful).

So many people complain about the music. The music sounded the same to me. If i listen to it back to back I can hear the difference but in game it sounds like I remember it sounding. It is not like that completely changed it. It is just updated a bit.

All of that and still no proper HD remake of FFVII. I doubt FF9 will get a steam version since there was never a PC port unliken7 and 8 had.

The next thing is probably a HD remake of FF12 which would mean we get the Zodiac version.

Not playing it again since I platinumed FFX on PS3. And it is already 1080p on PS3 so I don't think they can improve much.

The new consoles have really become a venue for releasing last gen games on. I don't get it. PS2 from PS3 was a big leap but PS3 to PS4 not so much. You don't really need new versions of the games. Keep your PS3/360 around instead.

A look at Metacritic says 45 for the original and 71 for Re:Birth1. That is a huge leap in quality. You are entitled to your oppinion but doesn't seem like many agree looking at the score.

I cannot say since I never played the first game. I've played about 80% of Victory and 15% of Re:birth1 and I really like Re:birth1 more. However Fiery Fencer is the only game from them that I can say I actually like. It is way ahead of Hyperdimension Neptunia in story.

I am surprised to see people hating Tri-Ace my impression was that people really like the Valkyrie Profile (they have metacritic scores of 81 and 84) games and Star Ocean 2 and 3 (80 metacritic).

They've made good games. It is not that they are Compile Heart or something (although CH reedemed themselves to some extent lately with Fiery Fencer)

I can understand if someone playing SO2 now is not impressed by back at the time of release on PS1 it was amazing. Yet it still got mediocre reviews. The graphics are simple compared to FF9 but the pre rendered backgrounds look amazing. The music is top 5 all time for me. Like FF7 I can still hear the music in my head and get warm feelings. Gameplay is nothing amazing but neither was the FF games of the era. Besides I don't play JRPGs for combat. Only really good combat is in the SMT games. Story was interesting and I liked the characters. I played as Rena and I liked her. I really love that game.

Star Ocean The Second Story is a great game. One of my favorite PS1 games. Hope this is not the end for Star Ocean. I still have SO4 to finish on PS3 however.

Have anyone gotten Ayesha Plus? From what I have read it suffers from bad framerate which is not uincommon in the Atleier games on Vita. It also seems that a rumour that you could import your PS3 save to continue a new game plus was wrong. Too bad.
