Glad to see there was a thread for this. A short trailer just came out:

Is it me or this perhaps the best looking game in existence?

I avoided the kickstarter cos for some reason I thought it was PC only and I have no plans on buying the kind of PC needed to run this. Turns out it's for consoles too though :-\ Although I sense another impending console version downgrade.
Yeah it looks fantastic, did you see the alpha footage of the forest? Has some odd pop in and lag but looks stunning.

Hmmm. It's difficult for me, i've beaten well over a hundred RPGs on my list. In no particular order and in a constant state of change in my own head.

1. Vagrant Story
2. Shining Force II
3. Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne
4. Dark Souls
5. Panzer Dragoon Saga
6. Final Fantasy XII
7. Shadow Hearts
8. Persona 4: Golden
9.Shining Force III part one
10. Ni No Kuni Wrath of the White Witch.

I backed this without hesitation but i'm a big fan of Castlevania and the whole Metroidvania style. I think this is the tenth project i'll have backed game wise and not a single one has yet released XD

Silly naming scheme aside (though, I always liked how "Tales of the Abyss" suck out for having no "-ia" at the end actually featuring the word "the").

You're right, Tales of the Abyss did suck ;)

Plot-wise that game was a complete success (IMO). Any replays are for the sheer depth of it alone and seriously unreplicated by any other Tales title

Why are you arguing with yourself? All Annubis was doing was pointing out how much your comment suck out at him.

Maybe the next Tales of game should be called, Tales of Suckia (and stars Mr. T; "I pity the fool who don't play this sucka!").

lol. Thank you all. This conversation made my day.

Very little of his responses raised my confidence truth be told.

My biggest issue is actually the character designs, especially Cidny (must be because i'm european XD) The lack of realism there is just ridiculous. She's a mechanic dressed as a hooker and Tabata didn't even understand the issue *sigh*

Super annoyed because I wanted to get the platinum in one playthrough, but I missed a quest to get one of the three umbilical cords for the true ending and apparently killed another person before I was supposed to and locked myself out of another umbilical cord. You have to have three and I have two, so I now have to play through the entire game in NG+ in order to get the "true" ending and the final trophy I'm going to need once I get done with the chalice dungeons. So infuriating.
Ha that sucks. I locked myself out of one before I knew about it but got the other three. I'm just missing the Chalice dungeon trophy. Been working through it steadily, just two more chalices to go.

So, this is pretty exciting news to hear since it's from Square Enix that isn't an iOS port. However, I'm someone who has yet to play a Star Ocean game. Should I start out with the 1st one or 2nd one? Because I can't find a way to play the 1st one since it's only on the SNES and the 2nd one is on PSN Classics.

The first one was actually remade for the psp, if that's an option for you.
But I hear that the PSP port is kinda butt.
I thought it was good actually, never heard anyone knock it before.

As for Star Ocean five, I hate the character designs though the town shots look nice. I'm just not really feeling it though.

So I bought the PS4 version and only endured 3 crashes during the 30 hours it took me to do everything (all trophies basically).

I was pretty disappointed, personally hated the music and found the psychedelic battle backgrounds nauseating. The battle system was alright but walking through an area as the reviews said left battles every five seconds in a lot of cases which gets old, fast.

I would score it maybe a 6/10. The premise was good it just didn't follow through on it.

The link seems broken for me. I'm gussing this is PC only though anyway?

Of the main female characters I've always liked Fang and Serah better personally, but I don't have any problem to see more of Lightning in Kingdom Hearts III or Dissidia for example.
Agreed, in those sort of games she is perfect for, just no need for any more FFXIII spin offs....

Looks like the game has had official confirmation of a PS4/Xbone release. They are also sharing some of their engine tech and vice versa with the Star Citizen devs as they're both using the cryengine. Indies unite!

Not a Playstation game, but considering we're using this as our general Tales of thread. . .
Ugh! While there is obviously a market for this stuff I can't stand phone and tablet games. Still with TOS collection, Xillia 2 and Zestria coming I can't complain too much XD

I've only played a few, many didn't get EU releases or came to consoles I didn't own (Vesperia, 3DS release of Abyss) but I really loved Xillia, Eternia, Symphonia. The only I didn't was Graces, great battle system, stupid whiny cast though....ugh.

My gosh this thing is getting insane funding. 14k yesterday. Would not be surprised if it ended up being 1.2 million at the end of the campaign.
I don't think it will, funding on it is slowing down, my bet is more like £800,000 ( of course if you meant dollars perhaps XD)

It has done very well though i'm glad to see.

I was mildly interested until I saw the dungeon crawling gameplay and ugly visuals. Think i'll pass on not Persona.
