What? lol

I just prefer the game I want to be translated because its a product and I'm a customer. But often niche Japanese games are not marketed for overseas markets. Which sucks.

Well, that sucks. On the bright side, been playing some Ys VIII and its a lot of fun. No crashes either.

FYI, they did patch a much better translation. For example, that "big hole" became "chasm".

It might have to do with Velvet being OP. The game is much more challanging for me with some other characters on high difficulty.

5
I always up the difficulty of Beseria and I didn't have much a problem. And I'm terrible at timing. I'm not good at using Rokurou's counter though. lol

6
I'll just say that I'm terrible at reading opponents moves, getting proper timing and countering enemy moves. Its why I suck at fighting games and avoid them so I'm quite happy to see tales games move away from that. Yeah, Beseria is quite a button masher but theres still depth to the gameplay on higher difficulty. The less I have to worry about proper timing the better.

The big downside for me with Beseria is the Dungeon design. Very bland with too many enemies, I don't bother to fight everything. Theres not much reward in doing so either. Its just a waste of time.

As for Velvet's design, I have no problem with it. *looks at avatar Err, if you couldn't tell already. I really don't mind fan service designs. :P

Fair warning, SRW A protable is an old school SRW game. That means horrible hit rates, high energy costs, terrible spirit lists, and a reliance on the few actually good units you have to carry the rest of the team.

On the bright side, if you want to experience what an actually challenging SRW game is like then enjoy.

Would a third person shooter really have been that different? I don't understand why being first person is a deal breaker. Generally I don't care for FPS games but this is primarily going to be an RPG like Deus Ex.

Man, I wish I knew Japanese.

Err, I mean....bad Japan for releasing another degenerate game. *whistles.

Yay, the forum is back.

Anyway, I have the opposite preference. I prefer Soji in SRW V and Amari in SRW X. I like their theme songs and storylines more. *shrug Opinions be different :P

SRW X has the debut of Reconguista in G (it follows the key plot points and makes the story more clear but doesn't change anything from the show) , Code Geass R2, and Gundam Wing endless waltz. You can also gain Char himself on your team (Rather than full frontal in SRW V). I'd suggest getting these English sub SRW games now because I doubt these games are getting reprints. After a while they are going to become rare and expensive to find.

I'm surprised more people aren't talking about these games. At long last we are able to play SRW with English subs and its SO sweet. SRW V and X are rather easy SRW games though. I think the plot in V is more interesting but it follows Battleship Yamato's storyline and I liked that show. SRW X also has a dearth of super robots (if that matters to you) but at least the MC mecha is a magical super robot.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (another classic more people should play)

On another note, I'm surprised that I'm still the only person in this thread who mentioned Planescape: Torment.  I know I'm not the only one who played it.

I think thats a sign your old. :P But I'm an old fart as well so I remember the game. However, I didn't mention it because I think its dated. And I don't find it as fun to play as newer games.

Pet Peeves

1) Very slow starts where you can go several hours before getting any action at all. Looking at you, persona series

2) excessive grind - e.g. - Tales of Beseria where I want skip fights because there reward is low and theres SO MANY of them. At least there are no random battles so I often can skip them.

3) tedious crafting/upgrade system. Sigh, once again Tales of Beseria.

A whole lot of olf JRPGs being listed. My list is probably a bit different

In no particular order (because I'm terrible at ranking stuff I love):

Nier Automata
Witcher 3
DA: O
Mass Effect 2
Deus EX (the original)
Baldur's Gate 2
Knights of the old republic
Tyranny (not enough people know about this little gem)
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (another classic more people should play)
Final Fantasy XIII (No seriously, I love this game and its characters lol So what if its super linear? I had a ton of fun playing this game)

I'm sure that last one will cause big disagreements. lol

Tyranny =P

I'll second this. While it has its own flaws, Tyranny was more enjoyable than either of those games.
