Hell, that looked pretty good. Freaky monster, very SH-ish. I completely overlooked SH: Homecoming. When it came out, I recall still being a bit pissed off with SH4 and not bothering to pay attention to the new games; but I just glanced over the reviews and it definitely looks worth some scares. Tbh, I never played the second SH game and I've been wanting to buy a used ps2 just for that reason. Rent Homecoming first, the game is about as scary as watching puppies sleeping. Also, buy SH2 as soon as you can, now that's a must have horror game.

It's not an argument about archeypes themselves. I'm just saying it's kind of funny to make fun of archetypes in one game while fully embracing the exact same archetypes in another.
Embracing in which way? Oh right, you didn't point out anything, you just came along an acted like a douche without giving any real argument whatsoever. Cry? More like cringe at your usual stupidity in these forums.

Not really, considering you're making fun of a trope that is prevalent in nearly all JRPGs, whereas the things you listed don't really have anything in common.
You're the one using vague and silly stereotypes to judge what i like and don't like. Then again, you're just trolling as you usually do.

i understand companies are in this buisiness to make money. it's just sometimes they make it so blatantly obvious that its sickening. i'm not sure SE has done this yet but what pisses me off is that over the years i have developed japaneese tastes in video games so i get mad when a company tries to make a game appeal to western audiences westernizing the character designs.
Having western or eastern asthetics/visual style on a game is not the problem at all, that won't break or make a game good. The problem is when companies are trying to appeal to some "standard" of what they think everyone wants, the thing is, you can't please everyone no matter how hard you try, and by actually trying to appeal to as many as you can companies seem to forget about other aspects of a game, like the gameplay itself. We end up with games that might look good, but play like crap.

Was Dead Space a risk? It's pretty much recycling everything it has from other games and movies, from the gameplay to the story. It might be something different from EA's usual line up, but a risk? Hardly.

Why are people praising Mirror's Edge? Sure, the game might look good, but having a plataformer in first person view is a bad idea in every possible way.
It was a unique game. Isn't that what this thread is trying to get at? Sure it wasn't *entirely* successful, but it was a decent game. A sequel with improvements would be very welcome. Being a unique game and being a good game not always go together.

It does seem like they're trying more new and different things this gen (Nier, Lost Odyssey, Edge of Eternity) than they did last gen.
Last gen it was basically FF10/12, Kingdom Hearts and Tales games - with SO3 thrown in as an extra.
I miss the Square of the PS1 era though.
Basically this. Regarding the FF hate, FFXII was a good game and XI is a good MMORPG, if there was anything to hate from FF lately was FFX-2. But yes, i miss the days o having games like Musashi (the first one) Threads of Fate, Parasite Eve among others. Now SE, just like most companies out there, are just milking clueless people with recycled games. Good for them i guess, bad for anyone who actually wants new gaming experiences. Sad because The World Ends With You is a solid game, and so far the exception to all the FF7 milking/Kingdom Hearts-fest.

Funny, considering your fangsdm for the jRPG genre.
By that logic, i will assume you love WoW, LARP and going to renaissance faires, since you love WRPGs so much, amirite?

Heck, i can tolerate some shoujo/sugary stuff, but that trailer just made me cringe. I'm tired of anime stereotypes of women: the bookworm, the tomboy, the lazy/clumsy one, etc etc.
