I got the game on release and really loving it myself. There's no denying I'm into MGS, but I was never a huge fan. This game on the other hand is making me feel that way and loving every little minute of it. :D

Media / Single-Player RPGs / So, ummmm... anyone here playing PS3 games?

I play my PS3 everyday, but I'm mostly playing racers on it (like MotorStorm, Ridge Racer 7, and Formula One: CE), Fighters (Tekken 5 DR and VF5 espexially), games online (like Warhawk and Resistance), or the Hots Golf 5 Japanese demo. Just got DW Gundam and can't wait to play it.
I have Enchanted Arms on PS3, but I got it cheap. I wasn't expecting RPGs on my PS3 until 2008. Folklore is somewhat an RPG and the demo rocks IMO, so I'll definitely be buying that later this year. I'm definitely excited for White Knight Story (most wanted next gen game).

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Blue Dragon

Has anyone tried playing Blue Dragon on an SDTV? The reason I ask is that I remember reading a Japanese review that one of its negative points was unreadable text on an SDTV (kind of like Dead Rising), due to being designed for high resolutions. I tried the demo on an SDTV and found some of the text unreadable, but didn't get to see how the text displays during a cutscene (menu text is fine though). The only reason I want to know is that I know people who want to buy a 360 just for Blue Dragon, but I've kind of gave them the warning about small text (these are people who don't plan to go HD for a while).
As for me, I have an HDTV for my PS3/360, since both consoles made me get one. :P I haven't bought Blue Dragon yet, but I'm hoping to get the game on sale (at least $48). I initially hated the demo and said really bad things about the game. But when I spent a long time downloading the Bioshock demo, I felt I should give the game another shot. Good thing I did, because I kind of like it now, but it does feel a tad too old school (Eternal Sonota was more for me).
Thanks for the impressions everyone, and I'm glad to see some like it, unlike reviewers.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Ar Tonelico II

Awesome. I'm really hoping this gets an English release. As big of an Atelier Iris fan I am, I wasn't too sure if I'd like the game as much, but I sure did. Really enjoyed the story and characters. It's the RPG I played most this year. I was a little surprised to hear Ar Tonelico II come out, but I'm glad it is.
First time I've seen Shiguma in the longest time posting (I use to post a lot more under a different name, at the previous RPGFan forum).

I tried out a Super Famicon versions of the SaGa series and enjoyed them. When the PS2 Romancing SaGa came out, I bought it on release for full price. I never beat the game (due to buying almost every RPG that came out that year), but I enjoyed what I played.

I'm excited about the game myself. I always wanted a Wild Arms game on the PSP. I was hoping for a more traditional RPG, but an SRPG will do. Looks great IMO.

I'm really happy about the news. I really wanted an SRPG on PS3, and I like Disgaea, so this is an awesome match. I thought NIS would bring a different game to PS3, but I guess not. Glad to see its still 2D. I hope this game is 1080p too.

Media / Single-Player RPGs / Front Mission 1st DS coming to NA

I'm really upset by this.
I want Front Mission 5; I really don't care that much about Front Mission: The First. Seconded. Bring it over already, dammit. Ditto, third. I badly want Front Mission 5 and I'm very upset about it not coming stateside. Square Enix will release SaGa games stateside (that next to no one buys, but they ignore this).

I've been having a lot of trouble finding the game. I want to pick up another PS3 game, but I just can't pass this game up, so I may get it next time I go to Fry's (An hour away from me).

One thing every single reviewer did say about Monster Kingdom was that it has excessive dialogue. People who know me well, know that I'm a huge fan of the Xenogears/Xenosaga series, mostly because of the excessive dialog/cutscenes. Without a doubt, this should be an RPG I'll love, but I'll wait to judge it when I buy it.
Yeah, I know about MGS: PO getting a pretty good review at 1UP, but that was one of the few to get a good review from them. But in all reality, I have never been a fan of Ziff Davis reviews. I brought up the 1UP reviews since there was a big discussion about it at GAF.
