10381  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on: August 17, 2006, 01:26:20 PM
I seem to have trouble finding official confirmation, but for now, Wikipedia's entry.

I think if this bomb concoction actually wouldn't have worked, then the measures are pointless - it'd be like hunting down butterflies because they might eat people. But if it's true... Well, everything I said before still stands. :P

And before anyone says the Metroid games don't follow on from each other, they do make references to things that have happened in previous games - unlike Zelda games which are not connected at all (in my opinion at least), but are rather like different retellings of the same legend.

Actually, what I want to say is that Nintendo kinda already confirmed that the Prime series takes place between 1 and 2. Before Prime came out. :P
10384  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Phantasy Star Universe stuff. on: August 17, 2006, 10:28:57 AM
I think the gameplay's overhauled dramatically Dade, probably to the level of one of the better action games that are out.

I think a lot of what really killed PSO however was the console jumps. People had to abandon their characters, then were split because of different GC/XBox/PC servers, and the GC version lacked a readily available keyboard for a decent price and required buying a modem /just/ for it, the XBox probably didn't appeal to the vast majority of the fans of the game in the first place, and the PC... Well, Blue Burst just came too damn late for people to give a shit.

All in all, I think that combined with cheating and the lack of ability to update the game with new content easily lead to PSO's fade to irrelevance; I know that it stopped /me/ from returning after the DC died.
10385  Media / Miscellaneous Games / F.E.A.R. Combat is almost here on: August 17, 2006, 12:31:26 AM
Wish my computer could run it beyond setting the graphics to 'shit'. :P
10386  The Rest / General Discussions / Phantom, the console, is now officially dead. on: August 16, 2006, 11:13:47 PM
Did the journalist notice you killed the machine? Because I think it'd be fucking funny to be in his shoes, hearing the PR guy heap praise on the system while the system's spazing out in the background.
10387  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Deep Labyrinth on: August 16, 2006, 11:06:46 PM
I've seen /one/ positive review, and even then it wasn't exactly heaping praise on the title. Here, if any of you are interested.

The closest to bad I've heard about the original Bushido Blade was that you can kill an enemy in 1 hit... And that's 1. considered dishonorable, and keeps you from getting the best endings and 2. part of how that whole realism thing worked.

Wish there was another fighting game akin to Bushido Blade. Would be great on the Wii.
10389  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Dirge of Cerberus on: August 16, 2006, 06:38:28 PM
Actually, I thought Bushido Blade was fantastic, or at least the first one. And BFM was flawed, but overall pretty good.

I didn't much care for Ehgeriz and rarely heard good about The Bouncer though.

I don't think that's wholy accurate Mark, at least not until it was released in Japan. I know I remained hopeful that it'd be good, and I figure most of us were too.

The XBox had Sudeki actually, but it wasn't all that good IMO.

The British developed that.

Instead it'll be a software client.

Makes more sense to me, You can't make something like that and keep it up to date for PC gaming without being overly expensive.

I think he was just referring to the original Xbox: The Xbox 360 will have Enchanted Arms soon, and unless Microsoft and everyone else just plain sucks, we'll have Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and that Chopin RPG before too long.

While there've been some games I liked that John didn't, I'm definitely taking to heart what he's said about DoC. What I keep hearing reminds me of all the reasons LoI bored me. :P

Edit: Took a look at the review on 1up too. That's just further reinforcing my lack of interest.
10395  The Rest / General Discussions / Game Journal #2 on the new(ish) boards on: August 16, 2006, 02:19:23 AM
Went 'what the heck', popped in MM:AC myself, and blasted through MM2 tonight. Still a damn good game, and possibly the best ending I've seen with absolutely no story to it.
