Actually, I thought Bushido Blade was fantastic, or at least the first one. And BFM was flawed, but overall pretty good.

I didn't much care for Ehgeriz and rarely heard good about The Bouncer though.

I don't think that's wholy accurate Mark, at least not until it was released in Japan. I know I remained hopeful that it'd be good, and I figure most of us were too.

The XBox had Sudeki actually, but it wasn't all that good IMO.

The British developed that.

Instead it'll be a software client.

Makes more sense to me, You can't make something like that and keep it up to date for PC gaming without being overly expensive.

I think he was just referring to the original Xbox: The Xbox 360 will have Enchanted Arms soon, and unless Microsoft and everyone else just plain sucks, we'll have Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, and that Chopin RPG before too long.

While there've been some games I liked that John didn't, I'm definitely taking to heart what he's said about DoC. What I keep hearing reminds me of all the reasons LoI bored me. :P

Edit: Took a look at the review on 1up too. That's just further reinforcing my lack of interest.

Went 'what the heck', popped in MM:AC myself, and blasted through MM2 tonight. Still a damn good game, and possibly the best ending I've seen with absolutely no story to it.

Complete change of topic, (sorry to hijack, but Galactic really didn't want to make his own thread just for something like this) does anyone know exactly WHY Galactic has been banned from #rpgfan on Lunarnet?  Tried to log on last night to see how everyone was doing but was met with a banned message... interesting...

^_-;

Weird. I'll look into this. From here on you though, you can probably just PM me.

Edit: I can't really find anything in the IP list. Could you PM me exactly what you got, and try again if necessary?

I thought that marathon was enjoyable. Then again, Clive was doing 5 digits of damage regularly.

At the same time, if you do think you'll get a PSP at all, you might as well take the plunge. It'd suck to pay 100+ for the game, only to see something catch your eye on the system and buy it anyway.

Would you guys suggest just buying a PSP for this game?  I've been trying to snag a PS1 copy off Ebay and Amazon for under $120... no luck. :(

JUST for this game? Nah, doesn't make much sense money-wise. If you're also interested in the other games, or at least the other features? Yeah, grab it.

I enjoyed the game, it had nice fast combat that no other game's got, and I thought it was pretty funny. Nevertheless, I can't stand playing any other NIS SRPG, so I'd say get this and ignore the rest. Possibly even the sequel.

I'd like to know if she was just not interested in the selection like Gast, or if she thinks the idea's stupid still and refuses to touch it because of that regardless of the lineup. :P

I really liked SuikIII myself. The end part sucked though, probably because the director left towards the end of the game's development. I'd say if you can get it for cheap, get it anyway. But it probably shouldn't be prioritized over the other games (though I'd pick it over Grandia 1, and the PS2 port of Grandia 2 sounds bad.)

Xenosaga... I liked the first, but a lot of people didn't. I hated II, and so did a lot of fans of 1, but some people liked it - they either were able to deal with the gameplay or are madmen who genuinely enjoy it. III sounds like it is the best in the series hands down, but after being burned by II, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Nevertheless, I will play it to the end if only to finish the story, and if you're going to get the XS games you may as well go and get III as well. Heck, III has text summaries of 1 and 2 apparantly, so you could feasibly skip both games, though I wouldn't recommand it.

I can't comment on Legendia, but for the Grandia games, or at least 1 and 2.... I had fun with them, personally. 1 was ok at the start, boring after crossing the End of the World (a place, not an event), then was really enjoyable for disc 2. Grandia II meanwhile is consistantly good, and the more recommanded of the two. Their stories can be entertaining, but honestly are stupid cliched bullshit. And both pull horrible twists at the end that undermine major plot events, an act I call pulling a Grandia thanks to these two doing it twice /in a row/. If you want me to be more specific...
Code:
Both have major heroines sacrifice themselves, only to be resurrected in a horribly contrived method at the end of the game, thus not only undermining what they've done, but cheapening the story on a whole, possibly to the point where it really is just a bunch of rubbish.

Oh, and BoF: It is short, but it'd be murder if it was longer. The game uses something called the SOL system, Scenario Overlay. It's like a new game +, but you only keep unspent Party EXP, all skills you've learned, and items that are stored in the new game, and more cutscenes are availble when you replay. It's also pretty challenging thanks to these and other factors, and if you die you have to either restart at the last save point, or at the beginning of the game. To further compound this, you now have a D-Counter which, after you've fully unlocked the dragon powers, steadily rises throughout the game, and moreso when you use the dragon powers - there is no way to lower this short of using the SOL features, and if you reach 100 the game ends. Don't let that scare you off though, it's a one of a kind experince you won't get with any other game, and I'm told the ending is amongst the best game endings ever.
