Zelda II.
And if your name is Eusis or you're just an asshat, then it was probably Shadowrun back in 1993. ... Zelda II's closer than most Zeldas anyway. It has towns and levels and stuff. :P

Are you sure? I never saw it, back in the day... maybe I missed it :/ I recall reading that in a magazine, and it was a pretty big deal about how it came out over in PAL territories but not in America. Plus, Terranigma wasn't the name of the japanese release. :P

So I recently had the chance to finally play some games that were never released in Europe, well when I say play I mean dabble as I haven't decided which ones to play first. I have acquired the following games:
Dragon Quest 4,5,6 Bahamut Lagoon Terranigma Seiken Densetsu 3 FF iii Secret of Evermore Star Ocean That, uhhh, came out in Europe. Anyways, decent looking roster of games I suppose; I wish DQV would come out here though.

I think honestly the biggest reason VP2 wasn't listed on anyone else's best of E3 list was because this year was a /very/ strong showing; Hellgate London is looking to be a great spiritual successor to Diablo 2 (though I never cared for the latter much), Mass Effect looks like yet another awesome Bioware game, and NWN2 is looking much better than KotOR2 did.
For whatever it's worth though, while NWN2 took GameSpot's RPG of the Show, Persona 3 was a runner up. :P
Edit: Also, given SS2's lack of popularity, I dare say Bioshock winning so many Best of E3 awards is spitting in the face of the mainstream.

Actually, I was referring to the story pacing. Outside of the mid point and as you reached the end, it was mostly random crap then whoa plot revelations. Battles didn't bug me much, though I think this and FFVIII combined made it unbearable for when I had to deal with it in FFIX.

Is there any worry about dealing with customs if importing something like the white PSP from Play Asia? I want to know for when/if I do so, and I want the white one to differentiate from the PSP my brother just bought, and SCEA seems to have no interest in releasing it in the US. Also, I haven't had this for music CDs but any concerns for importing games? Thanks.

Everyone else is creaming their pants over Bioshock, but no one is listing it as either an RPG or non-RPG. :(
Seriously, looks good, and I never really got into SS2 anyways (read: scared the shit out of me and I never progressed). I've just glanced over the impressions and the lists of fave games so far, I'll give a thorough look later.

I /do/ consider Chrono Cross a poor sequel to CT, and there was a certain... Something it lacked that CT had, and feels empty in a sense compared to that. However, for what it was I thought it was great, and that most people had just decided to take a polarized 'doesn't live up to CT = it fucking sucks' rather than taking it for what it was. 'sides, I liked the story even if the pacing was shit. :P
Edit: And there are way worse sequels than CC out there anyway - at least CC established it's own identity and sought to do something different, rather than using the exact same formula as CT but ultimately being a pale imitation of the original.

My beef with PSO is that as much as they say it's online and all it doesnt feel like a MMO as much as FFXI or WoW for example. I wonder if they fixed that on PSU. No, unless maybe if you compared it to Guild Wars. Geez, why does everyone keep calling PSO an MMO? It was revealed not to be shortly after it was revealed, and there' no persistant world or anything, nor does it play the same; at least Guild Wars has that. :P

I guess SO3 could technically count for me, except my likes and dislikes are the same as those that most people seem to have for it. It's just that I think the good combat is enough to make it worthwhile while others disagree. :P

I think it's both, though I assume by 'good games that were trashed', you mean the magazines and sites loved it, but a lot of people didn't.
Personally, for the latter, I'd have to say FFVIII, CC, and SuikIII are my faves. Hell, I can't even pinpoint why I like FFVIII at /all/ but I had a lot of fun with the game for some reason.

That reasoning is like saying "animals have sex out in the open, so I'm giving up sex because doing it in the bedroom is unnatural." Kinky. :P Personally, I think it's just as stupid to say everyone who becomes a vegetarian because they don't want to eat once-living animals is a dumbass, as it is to be a crazy vegetarian who says everyone who eats animals is bad and evil. Some people just would rather not do that, but won't be stupid and force others to do the same. It is natural to eat other living things, but just as well I think people have, for better or worse, advanced enough that what's natural need not necessarily apply to them. Edit: Late edit of the post to make the first setence read better. Hopefully.
