It doesn't look like the shell controller they talked about last year but still, it looks to be SNESlicious.

That shell controller wasn't Nintendo's idea, but rather IGN's concept art. If you pay attention to the details, you could tell that not only was it photoshopped, but it couldn't work anyway.

Even more ignorant question: I'm not entirely sure what wi-fi is! Is it wireless internet support, like the DS? Would that mean that the cheaper model couldn't go online?

Basically, yes. Or at least (and I am totally not sure on this) it'd be a hard-wired connection.

I've seen the back of the system: It's got an ethernet port. So you'd basically have to buy an adapter later or something to go online wirelessly... Not that Sony's announced any such solutions, but there's still the good ol' fashion wireless stations.

Official site.

Personally, I'm really disappointed. We haven't had a Shadowrun video game in over a decade, and when they /do/ make one, it's not an RPG but rather what sounds like a Counter Strike clone in a sci-fi/fantasy setting. Sigh.

Anyone who cares about Shadowrun even remotely still hoping this turns out well? It'll be nice, but I'm not all that interested now.

The 20 gig one will not only have a smaller Harddrive, but it'll lack the wi-fi, the memory stick readers, and the HDMI output. I've complained earlier in this thread about that.

The PSP game is still a mystery, and is why I didn't post what Jimmy did earlier. However, that picture is almsot certainly concept artwork for Rogue Galaxy, as that was shown when the mystery PS2 project was announced.

It's probably safe to say that the PSP game is vaporware by now.

It's only been about a year and a half since it was first mentioned, and it does take a good while to develop games - if nothing's heard in a year or two, /then/ I think it'll be vaporware

I'm obviously desensitized to RPG news. All I'm really excited about is Mario on the DS. :P

Fuck you, that's great, but what about STARFOX DS or YOSHI'S ISLAND 2?

Now that I looked at RPGFan's feature... I'm guessing that PSP content rule /is/ true. Dammit, SCEA's too fucking anal for anyone's good. So what if there isn't that much new content, I just want to play stuff like BoFIII and Suik1/2 on the go.

Ah well, VP:L was the remake I was interested in most anyway; Suik1/2 would've been nice but I beat those already and those discs are fine. :P

I think something like "I don't think that's the truth" or "I don't trust the source on this" would have sufficed. :P

Yeah, god forbid we don't sound like robots when we talk. :P

A New York Times article is claiming that Blizzard will announce a WoW live action film today.

So er, if this is true then... Well, I don't know what to think. It could either be awesome, or the most horrible thing ever put on celluloid.

If I wasn't already hitting the bottle, I would over this announcement.

The $499.99 version is also going to have components removed as well.  It will be missing HDMI output as well as imputs for various memory card mediums.

Yeah, I found out about that later and it's one of the only things that has genuinely pissed me off about this. If I'm going to spend /500/ bucks on the new powerful system, I'd rather only have to worry about components I can get later, let alone ones I /thought/ to be as basic as memory stick readers or the HDMI. They could easily leave a port open to stick the card readers in or create a USB device for reading them, and leave an open slot in there to stick the wi-fi in, but the HDMI being ignored is utter idiocy, unless the normal port is able of handling 1080p HD output too.

I have only one response to that.  If a design isn't broken, don't fix it.  The Playstation controller is designed very well.  I see no reason to modify its design when it already functions quite well.

The batarang design reminded me of a 3rd party licensed controller that I got with the PSX, and preferred over the original. And you can always tweak the design some to make it more comfortable or at least /look/ significantly different - the X360 controller is just as good, if not better than the Controller S for the XBox, so even remodeling would've been nice. But we don't even get that much because Sony got lynched for trying it. Plus, they could've easily sold a 'traditional' controller. :P

Plus, while the Dual Shock design is a great one, I've found the feel of other controllers to be potentially preferable.

Probably a smaller HD or something.

Personally, while I'm glad (albit unsurprised) at the stolen motion sensor, I really wish they offered that as a different model: I thought the new controller looked nice and was a change of pace, but nope. Back to the same fucking controller used for nearly 10 years now; over if you count the original digital-only pad.

I've heard nothing of the like. If you're going to allege something, back it up with a source, will ya. All I've read about is Final Fantasy XIII officially being announced, disclosing a bit about the protagonist and theme.

That's... Really sad on Monolith's part. But if it's able to revive interest in the series, then it's good to know they apparantly make a good return to form for the final game.

At the last, the database should be interesting to read. :P
