Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Next 10 years of Mega Man being discussed by "Top Men" at Capcom

Problem to me with this possible FPS reboot/spinoff/whatever is ultimately in how it looks and the overall style. I'd actually LOVE an FPS game that went with more cartoony visuals like every other Mega Man game has, and if they faithfully adapted the gameplay, but this seems to only meet halfway in every regard: it IS way more colorful than most FPSes, but it looks like has designs that are more gritty or realistic rather than cartoony, and likewise the gameplay looks as if it may've been more traditional FPS with some jumping, not necessarily Mega Man as if played from first person. But perhaps you need 3rd person for that, so just getting a dual stick MML3 would've probably been more than enough anyway. At any rate, maybe this could've been fixed but in the end I'm glad it was canned, it is now a sacrifice so we may get Metroid Batman.

Actually I should clarify it: when I said I "count on it", it's because there's always going to be some entry that's your favorite, or you think the new game isn't QUITE as good, even hit Dark Souls versus Demon's Souls. But if it's mild it's just "Dark Souls 2 is pretty good but I liked 1 more", and I'm realistically expecting that's more or less how it'll go after that video.

I can't see anything wrong with the video at all. I'm very much onboard the "shut up and take my money" train!
People were only worried about the earlier interview bits. There's always the possibility that they'll still do stuff in-game to disappoint us (I almost count on it actually, it's just a matter of how extreme it is), but it does appear they're staying quite true to Demon's Souls and Dark Souls thus far.

The Rest / General Discussions / Re: EA won worst company in the USA of 2012

Well, just the fact that they believe Mass Effect 3 ending and making Sim City online > foreclosing on people who don't deserve it and ruining the environment in terms of evilness makes a compelling argument for my postulate.
Isn't EA just the publisher for ME3, anyway? People really are stupid. Actually, Bioware is wholly-owned by EA now, aren't they? In any case, bitches about the ME3 ending are some of the lamest complaints I've ever heard... Agreed, the game was solid, it's ending may have sucked, and it may have been a huge shitfest of bull, but 3% of fuckups doesn't take away from 97% of awesomeness. I'm rarely displeased with EA's games, and I still think Activision as a whole should be on the worst company list. I actually found ME3 disappointing period, the ending was just the cherry on top. Disappointing doesn't mean it's not GOOD though, but I did like ME1 and 2 more, sidequests came off as too pared down (it's especially bad with the quest log, how the fuck was that acceptable after so many years of doing a decent job with them?) and it felt like they frequently had to write around choices that weren't convenient to their story. Still, it's damn near the bottom of the list of problems with EA, stuff like the Real Racing 3 microtransactions are way higher. ... And, yeah, if this were just worst entertainment company I'd probably gladly vote EA in at the top, Activision's kinda shitty but they'd been good to consumers for the most part, but against some of these companies? EA's nothing.

I wouldn't be surprised if the logic was somewhat faulty anyway: more units WOULD get more sales, yes, but if anyone's on Vita semi-reliably it's the JRPG audience. Not quite like evaluating whether to bring a serious western IP there without SCEA co-funding or a 3DS version.
Mind, I also wouldn't be surprised if another factor was the remakes not being received too well, and it's possible Namco's current localization setup was kind of fucked, most RPGs don't take as long to get localized as Tales games do. Then again neither are they stuffed with Voiced skits like theirs.

Funded, and I'm glad because I wanted to see the interview/roast by Spoony. To be honest that's where most of my REAL Ultima knowledge comes from, watching his videos covering the whole series. Still need to watch the IX ones though, will need to before he gets a chance to do his interview.

1. It's a big reason why Ultima IV isn't as accessible as Fallout 1, Ultima IV even straight up says stop playing and read the fucking books. The only time you have to consult the manual in Ultima IV is for looking up spell formulas. The other reading material is just... supplemental stuff. The only other times Ultima games generally have you consult the manual is for answering copy protection questions. You never have to look up passages of text from the manuals in the older Ultima games, though, like you did in Wasteland or the old Goldbox games. Except, again, the text-in-the-manuals was a copy protection thing, and NOT a hardware limitation or conscious gameplay choice by any means, which proves that there has never been a point at which DRM doesn't fuck everything up.Seriously though I have no idea what you're talking about here. I checked the manual for Ultima 4 all of once and never had any issues with it. Huh, maybe they were just proud of what they wrote and wanted you to REALLY get into it. Though I think that was mainly reading the lore books to get in character (heh) more than anything else.

Hope it's for real and not affected by the recent upheaval at SE. It'd figure if after a few years they're set to FINALLY release another traditional RPG like I used to rely on them for... only for it to be swept away because Wada bet poorly on XIV and Eidos.
Pretty sure Eidos has been a fair bit more profitable than FFXIV for them... :P Try telling that to Squeenix's upper management. :( It's probably not either or anyway. Eidos was an investment they hoped they'd get money back, but thus far have just been losing it, albeit probably not at too great a pace, and could probably be remedied just by figuring out how to lower budgets but keep sales consistent. FFXIV, meanwhile, is the fucking Titantic. Even Spirits Within has nothing on that from how it sounds.

Yeah, you'd probably need to flip the 3D off to at least get close to the viewing angle advantage, and admittedly the IQ IS lower beyond just the resolution difference. Almost makes me wish I could get some sort of OLED 3D screens put in instead, or at least higher quality LCDs.
But I figure JUST for discomfort viewing angles and screen size are the biggest non-ergonomic obstacles, and the XL's covered those so long as you flip 3D off, and grips can likely address ergonimic problems. And if you're not really digging the 3D there's not too much reason to leae it on anyway, not at full blast at least.
