Not a funny quote, but one of my favs comes from Joey Comeau and Emily Horne of A Softer World

"I have a two part question. 1. What would you do if you were going to die? And 2. How did you ever convince yourself you weren't?"

A tight-knit genre? That's stupid. Apparently the zillion subgenres of RPG don't count.

Actually you can easily ignore a game like Skyrim. Especially since the core design philosophy behind DA is completely different from TES. I'll take a more narrow slice of 'content' with more carefully designed gameplay over 'here, have a shitload of mediocre randomness.'

Unless your owner says your game must sell a bazillion copies, so make it like Skyrim,' there's no reason to homogenize.

Also, Skyrim wasn't a new direction. Unless you count selling way more than its predecessors despite being the same basic game' as a new direction. Which is exactly what he's saying, in PR speak.

Couldn't agree more.  Personally I've never really liked Bethesda's RPGs and it's sad to see Bioware being so insecure about their own legacy.  They have been responsible for some really great games (including the original Dragon Age) that are in a completely different style than Bethesda.  A style I actually like.

I can only pray that this is just PR speak and they're not actually abandoning the things used to make them great...

I also agree. I loved Skyrim, but I also loved Dragon Age (both games), and I play them both for different game experiences. As much as I loved Skyrim/Fallout, I can only take so much of their open-world game formula.

Crazy excited for this now. The videos and screenshots look great, and the DLC actually looks pretty decent.

Stage Map Pack A -- $1.99: Requiem for War and Liquid Fire stages for The Mercenaries.

Didn't knew there was more DLC for RE6 coming, at least is not terribly expensive or anything.

Edit: And more DLC announced...

That Predator mode sounds amazing. Can't wait!

Another Space Jam themed one. One of my best friends turned me on to this one:

Battle for Everyone's Slams

So, I finished Kurozuka and I kinda gotta say...huh? But, having said that in a weird way I enjoyed the show. Popped in BECK: Mongolian Chop Squad and after 6 episodes I am really digging this show, we'll see how it goes I guess.

I fucking loved BECK. I've lost 90% of the patience I had with anime since graduating high school (a personal taste issue, not trying to insinuate anything),  but BECK was able to hold my attention through all the episodes when I watched it last summer. And I loved the dub; I think Greg Ayers did a fantastic job with the singing.

American Horror Story: Sometimes I'm blown back by how well acted this show is, the actresses in particularly. Sarah Paulson's mixture of fear, revulsion and determination to live when in Bloody Face's basement just sent chills up my spine.

Yeah, she is absolutely fantastic. I especially liked her in that incredibly unsettling scene back in episode 5 or so where Dr. Threadson

performs that revulsion therapy on Lana. She was so believable in her disgust and determination.

I'm also super digging Lily Rabe, she just has such a presence. My eyes go straight to her in every scene she is in.

What I am looking forward to the most is being able to name my soldiers after my friends, and then update them on their virtual fates. :D

A friend of mine in high school did this with our group of friends in The Sims.  A few weeks in I was scarred for life by the stories I heard. :(

Thread duty:  XCOM seems very interesting and is getting solid reviews.  I have a huge backlog to work on so I don't know when I'll play it, but I'll probably try to buy it within the next few months as a show of support.

Same here, at least in terms of backlog; I did end up buying it. I played long enough for one of my friends to be gutted by an alien with scythe-like claws (see last post above). When I told him about it he seemed to take his death pretty well.

I've just discovered the Rescue the Princess blog and it seems to be a lot of fun.  I think I'll be sinking several days into catching up on the backlog on this site.

I love this bloggy thing. <3

Sharing one of my favorites, good for quick chuckles when class is boring me to tears. 27b/6.  Lots of writing, but read the fatter column in the middle; this man is a satirical genius.

I've always been a fan of Blogger Beware, which I'd take a look at if you ever read the Goosebumps books as a kid.

Boy, if this proves true then I'm glad I got ignored held off on making a purchase on Friday.

And I bought one just three weeks ago. The charge is still on my credit card ><.

You'll Need Those for Crossing - Los Campesinos.

Los Campesinos have some of the best damn lyrics I've ever heard.

Not YouTube, but a funny and insightful stand-up act on internet trolls.

Been playing Persona 4, the vanilla version not the Ponyboy version. I'm bound and determined to actually beat it this time. I'm nearing the 2nd to last dungeon and trying to finish up all the party member S-links. Every time I play this game I'm so amazed by how stylish the presentation is. The transparent silhouettes of the main characters on the main menu blows my mind every time.
435  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Remorse for things you did or failed to do in games on: November 23, 2012, 11:53:41 PM
I'm really a big wimp when it comes to things like this. I'm a compulsive saver, and I have at least 3-5 saves going in any game, so if I make a decision I regret and can potentially take back, I reload and redo it. There's been a few exceptions, like the one I mentioned above.

Oh and 1 more

Mass Effect 3 Ending

The Destroy ending. It means killing EDI and Legion and all the Geth, but I felt like it was the best choice. And not just because of the tease at the end when you have enough readiness.
