I like the Suzaku Seven better... but Takiko is a better lead than Miaka.  Goddammit, ya just can't win.

I never finished Genbu Kaidan, but I agree with the Takiko vs. Miaka thing. From the few volumes I read, Takiko was leaps and bounds more compelling and capable than Miaka ever was. Of course, Miaka is one of my least favorite characters in any anime or manga, so I may be a little biased.

Stomach flu. Done a lot of sleeping and barfing today.

And that, as they say, are the haps.

My advice: buy a cheap guitar so when you give up it's no big deal :)

Yeah, I plan on getting something cheap, and not just for that reason, but also I wanna try to get a desktop soon as well. I dunno, just something I've been percolating about. I just feel kinda unsatisfied with just vidja games; I kinda want something else to be passionate about.

Now that I'm done with homework, I've been kicking around some ideas for some hobbies. I want to do some other things outside of games, so I'm debating on learning how to play guitar. I'm willing to invest time into practice, since I have learned how to play an instrument before (saxophone) and I understand that it will take a lot of time and hard work. Or maybe I'm just a savant and will be killer awesome. Maybe I'm just trying to fill the void where homework was?

Anywho, any tips on starting up with learning to play the guitar? Also, what other hobbies do y'all have outside of games? I know there's like a thread for this somewhere in the aether but whatevs I'm curious.

Pretty pumped about this.

Mass Effect: Anything with the Mako

Baldur's Gate 2: Irenicus's Dungeon (I know there's that mod to skip the beginning, but still) and that dungeon in the circus tent.

Persona 4: Void Quest (great concept, annoying dungeon)

Final Fantasy 9: The Ice Cavern. I just remember that dungeon dragging and fighting flan after flan after flan after flan.

999: Puzzles in later playthroughs.

I'm replaying FF7, currently in Don Corneo's sex dungeon. Something tells me it's scenes like this that stops them doing a remake of FF7 in modern graphics.

I really don't want to see a remake of the Honeybee Inn, if for just the reason that the dudes there will be the traditional muscley gay stereotypes that are prevalent in anime and gaming culture. Not that the dudes there are positive portrayals of, well, anything, but I'd rather not see it get any worse.
58  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: What's your criteria when choosing a starter Pokemon? on: March 17, 2013, 04:11:23 PM
I choose the one I like most aesthetically.

This as well. Although I may change that based on whether its a type I've used a ton in previous games. For example, this gen I'm torn between Froakie and Fennekin, since I like Froakie aesthetically, but the last three Pokemon games I've played I've chosen water starters. Boyfriend wants Chespin so that's off the table.

I started replaying (rereading) Umineko no Naku Koro ni the other day. I had before played and read the first two episodes, and got through the 1st night in episode 3. However, I stopped at that point due to other obligations. I decided to pick Umineko back up and started back at the 1st episode and recently finished the 1st one again. It still holds up on a second playthrough, especially since I recently finished Higurashi and the music and visuals got a nice upgrade. The atmosphere and the themes of the story are still fantastic and it hasn't lost its creepy atmosphere, even though I know what was going to happen.

Some spoilerly thoughts for Episode 1:

Code:
Natsuhi can be mean at times, but I find her kind of endearing. She's picked on by Eva and gets no respect from Krauss or Jessica. I just felt sorry for her. And she looks pretty awesome with a gun. The first time I saw that I had to laugh because it was sooooo unexpected.

And the first appearance of Beatrice is still amazing, and I don't mean the portrait.

In terms of theories, since I haven't gotten to the answer arcs yet, I don't know what really happens, but I do have a few thoughts:

Code:
I believe Kinzo is the killer and may have one or two accomplices. If he does, one of them is definitely Maria. I totes believe she's the one who put the letter in the study near the end of the episode. I mean, the only evidence that he's dead was a very burnt body that bore an extra toe. Honestly, what's to say that the body did not belong to Krauss? They did mention the trait was hereditary.

Taking a break to do some homework, but I can't wait to get started and reread Episode 2, which, if I recall correctly, has an amazing climax.

I bet they could make a pretty bitchin' city simulator. I mean they made a name for themselves with insane geo-political simulators, seems like it'd be up their alley. I mean christ, take Crusader King 2's people management, mix that with SimCity, cut back on funding to transit, and watch as the crazy road guy ACTUALLY MURDERS YOUR MAYOR and knocks up both of this daughters just for the hell of it.

I...I would play the hell out of that game.
