the weird quiet that comes w/ a new snowfall

This is my favorite thing about snow, when it's heavy enough that it kind of mutes the world around you. Especially at night, and if you're in a big enough the town, usually the cloud cover is low enough that it reflects the light from the city, so when you look up you see what looks like a vaguely red ceiling of clouds. The entire effect makes me feel like I'm in a snowglobe.

Gone Girl:

What a twisted story about love, and more importantly, hate. I know some people hated the ending, but I personally loved it. It was the most perfect capstone to everything that came before. And that twist half way through the book, oh man, it was great. Ms. Flynn knows how to fuck with your head.

It's definitely a dark and intensely cynical read, so it's good that the next book I'm reading is The Princess Bride. :-)

I basically throw my wallet at any project that looks like Infinity Engine games, so I'm all for boarding this hype train. Hell, I even got me a sleeping car.

Re-watched two favorites this past week:

Tucker and Dale vs. Evil:

Still funny, still oddly charming, and Tyler Labine is still hot as Dale.

The Cabin in the Woods:

Still fucking amazing. Best movie I saw in 2012, and it's still going to be one of my favorites. The last 20 minutes bears re-watching alone due to all the shit going on in the backgrounds.

proposed to my gf yesterday ....i-i-i always knew she loved me but until she was faced with the prospect of losing me i didnt understand just how important i am to her. perhaps it's the things i always thought people hated about me that she likes. the circumstances surrounding us all seems like fate to me but what did i do to deserve this? it's like all the pain i suffered in my youth prepared me for helping her. i met her on pso 2 so my fascination with that series even seems to have had a purpose. and the way old friends gathered around me to support me when i needed it most.

Congratulations! That's awesome! Everyone deserves someone who makes them happy, and I'm glad you found that someone. :)

Session 9-

What a wonderfully creepy film. I watched it around 11PM at a friend's place, and I felt very unsettled for the rest of the night after watching it. The acting was okay, but damn, the cinematography, editing and especially the use of sound were amazing. Both the soundtrack and the amazing work they did on the session tapes blew me away and creeped me the fuck out. Seriously, the voice for "Simon" was just perfect. Probably the scariest movie I watched all year, and I don't remember a single "jump" scare.

I kinda hope we'll go back to something a bit darker with P5.

I agree. I mean, I feel like P3 and P4 have some pretty dark elements, but those parts aren't what's played up. It feels like all the P4 media is about the whimsical parts of the game. Both the 3DS and dancing games seem to take advantage of this shift in tone. I'm really hoping P5 will help restore the tone balance, so to speak.

I lost my shit when Narukami started dancing in that P4: Dancing All Night reveal.

Anyway, PERSONA 5. I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING.

Linked for safety, might be slighty NSFW

Anyway, my nominee for the Pulitzer Prize.

I don't want any more P3 or P4, either.  I like the games, but there comes a point when you simply don't want more.  I'd rather have new characters.

Ditto. I really really want a new cast here. I'm hoping the Teddie images on the teaser site are just hinting at a cameo. Or just to tell you it's Persona related. I mean, I won't write it off it was a P4 sequel, but I'll be disappointed.

Really?  I always had way more trouble with human enemies than clickers.  The clickers are so predictable...

I agree, but when I first encountered them I had no idea what to really expect. Plus, I'm as good at stealth as an angry elephant in a tiny, well lit room.

I probably died more in the area where you first encounter clickers than anywhere else in the game, so I totes agree, the game definitely amps up the difficulty pretty early on.

Watched the first five episodes of Vision of Escalflowne because I never got into the hype train when it was actually airing.

So far it can be summarized with Hitomi going:

"Oh no... VAAAAAN LOOK BEHIND YOU... WAAUUUGH"

I never finished Escaflowne but I remember loving the ending theme. Good god is that a gorgeous song.
