Been playing a lot of The Secret World lately. I normally can't stand MMOs, but I love this one. The setting, lore, writing, and especially the community have all sold me. I actually want to interact with the people in this game, which is rare for me.

@ Grim did you recently get divorced or something?

Noooooooo. Why would you think that? Because I pointed out a few women I'm attracted to? You ARE allowed to do that while being married. You don't just suddenly block out all attractive people. My wife does it, too. My marriage is just fine, but thanks for your concern.

Me and my boyfriend do the same thing as well. I think its kinda liberating, and over half the time we both find the same dudes hawt. (Though I doubt it works quite the same in your case Grim :P)

Got into Fire Emblem 7 hardcore for the past week, and I beat it today. First time through, and after many manic resets and vocal outbursts of "Fuckfuckfuck!" I managed to beat it without anyone dying. Missed one recruit though :(. Debating on whether I want to jump back in for the Hector play through, play another FE, or just play another game altogether.

Neverwinter Nights 1. Played a rolelplaying server and basically treated it like a second life. Stopped playing that back in '07, and have tried getting back into it intermittently, but its never the same.

For those of y'all who've seen Prometheus, here's some interesting analysis on the movie. I agree with a lot said by others in this topic as well, and my opinions on the movie are still mixed. Glad I saw it though.

As you might have noticed, I was pretty happy to see this get announced. Even if it was kind of accidental on Reggie's part.

Guess I better get that purple 3DS.

With you there kyuusei. Same color too, the purp is for true nobility. *dons crown*

I mean, I really like FE's gameplay, and I love customizable main characters who play a major role in the story, as well as the ability to pair characters up, which is a gift Fire Emblem has consistently given, so I basically love everything about this game already.

finally catching up on season 4 of breaking bad.

so good.

mad men finale later.

One of the last episodes of BB season 4 ("Crawl Space") is so good and so horrifying. That ending scene is haunting.

Mad Men is over for another season. A pretty low-key episode compared to last week's, but still really good. Some very well shot scenes, like the one on the commercial set near the end of the episode, and when the partners spread out on the second floor. And I didn't catch the ending song when I watched it, but my bf did, and what a fantastic choice it is. So perfect for both the show is general, as well as its main character.

I've been playing some AssCreed 2! Started it up on Sunday and it confirms everything that I heard about it: that it improves on everything in AssCreed 1. Assassinations are still super fun, and perhaps are even more fun now. But I think the part that keeps me going is the "The Truth" collecting mini-game, because those segments are really fun and come off like ARGs. Morse code wtf?!

Bought a papasan chair! It's like sitting in an hug! If I stop posting its because I decided not to leave and have merged with my chair to become some horrible chair-man monstrosity.

GoT was OK

Mad Men was where it was at last night.

I agree 100%. I didn't see GoT, but holy shit at Mad Men:

They way they showed Lane's dead body was horrifying. It was so cold and detached, there was no camera close up or shocking music, everything was quiet. I mean, I heard rumor's about someone killing themself this season, and Lane wasn't a big major character, but the way they showed his body just hanging there was so haunting.

God, what an episode.

Been watching Buffy again, since I never finished it when it first aired. This show was made for me, and I kick myself for dropping it after the 3rd season, even though I was like 12. Anyway, I just finished the 2nd Season, so here are some impressions:

Best Episode:

The death of Jenny Calendar is the big reason for this being the best episode. People die all the time on Buffy, but never one of the gang, so when Angel unceremoniously snaps her neck in front of the moonlit half-moon window, and revels in the ecstasy of the kill, Joss is poking at the gaps in the characters' plot armor. Yes, Jenny was at best a supporting member of the gang, but she still mattered to them all, as witnessed by the rest of Scooby gang's reaction to her death. Her death also compounds the overall theme of consequence in this season, since if Buffy had killed Angel when she had the chance in Innocence, Jenny would never had died, thus laying her death at Buffy's feet. This episode is great just for the fact that Joss attacks the viewer's sense of security, not unlike that other current popular show by a popular author.

Honorable Mention:

First off, John Ritter's gives a wonderful performance as the too-good-to-be-true Stepford Dad. He goes from cloyingly nice to seriously threatening in a matter of seconds, and it throws both Buffy and the viewer themselves off. But this episode is really good for toying with the idea that Buffy may have killed a regular human, who, while despicable, was just as ordinary as her mother. Of course we learn this to be false since Ted was actually a crazy robot sociopath, but the fact that Buffy, her mother, and her friends all confront the possibility that Buffy could kill an innocent.

Worst Episode:
Go Fish

Mostly a filler episode, and it shows. The filler in the first half was of much better quality, and since this episode comes right before the two part season finale, my guess is that it was rushed so that the majority of the time can be spent on the finale.. The enemies were kinda interesting, but a Soviet steroid that is administered via steam that turns one into a sea creature? I think that's reaching, even for Buffy. It felt like a by-the-books kinda of episode, and doesn't do anything special.

As mentioned above, I stopped after season 3 (although I did catch the occasional episode of later seasons), but I remember the 3rd season to be really good. Time to see how it holds up to memory!

Been reading Richard Morgan's The Steel Remains lately, and after a rocky start, I've warmed up to it. I'm about half-way, and I think I'm finally starting to understand where the characters are in relation to each other, cause there sure as hell wasn't a map included to give any indication where these places are. I really enjoy how he has set up the novel; the main character has his viewpoint chapter ever odd chapter, so chapter 1, 3, 5, 7 etc. are the main char's chapters, while the even chapters alternate between the other two main characters, with one having his on chaps 2, 6, 10 etc., and the other having hers on 4, 8, 12 etc. It keeps things fresh, without distancing the events so far that I don't remember what the hell is going on anymore.

Mad Men:

WOW is all I can say. What a tense episode, what an amazing episode. Things are going down, man. I don't think I've seen an episode where I've felt so conflicted about Don

On one hand, he was a massive d-bag to Peggy, and consistently does not appreciate her and her skills. I mean, he threw money in her face, as if that was what she wanted. On the other hand, he's the only one who disagrees with prostituting Joan to the Jaguar guy. Speaking of that, my collective opinion of the other partners definitely downgraded when they held a meeting to discuss whether Joan would have sex with Jaguar guy, without even including her. They just treated her like corporate property. Also, I hope this doesn't mean we'll be seeing less Peggy; I'd love to see how she fares at the other agency.

Definitely one of the best of the season so far, perhaps even the best. Only two episodes left, I really have no idea what's going to happen.

So, I had planned to see the Avengers with my bf, but since I had not seen any of the previous 5 movies, I watched them in the past two weeks to familiarize myself. I'm glad I did, since I don't think I would have liked the Avengers as well if I had not. Anyway, impressions timeeeeeeee!

Iron Man:

It was pretty good, my least favorite of the pre-Avengers movies. Tony Stark was amusing, but there were only two good bits with him as Iron Man and neither were that impressive. It still was a lot of fun, though, and I probably would have loved it if I saw it in the theater. Bonus points for Robert Downey Jr.'s attractiveness.

The Incredible Hulk:

Better than I expected. I saw Hulk (2003) in theaters and wasn't impressed. However, I also had fun with this movie, and I thought that it did a good job of making the Hulk out to be something truly dangerous. Definitely a whole lot of running, like a good 1/4 is scenes of Banner running.

Iron Man 2:

I liked it better than Iron Man 1, probably because they didn't have to spend a lot of time with Stark's origin story, which freed up more time for the overall narrative. I liked how
Tony was basically a self-righteous asshole at the beginning that you kinda wanted to punch, which made me sorta root for the villain initially. Then he kinda realizes that he isn't god's gift to mankind and gets humbled, which makes for a nice character arc.

Speaking of the villain, I liked the one chosen for this film a lot better than the one in the 1st movie.

Really liked this movie. I thought there were a few plot holes and handwaves, but damn I had a lot of fun with it. I dunno if it comes from having 0 knowledge of Thor, but I ate it all up. Probably my fav of the pre-Avengers five. Bonus points for Natalie Portman (whom I am a fan of) and Chris Hemsworth's adorable friggin' smile.

Capt. America:

Not a lot to say here. I thought it was a really tight film, and I heartily approve of how it was set in the time period Capt. began in. Really, this movie is more like a prequel to the Avengers than anything else, but that's not a negative or anything.

The Avengers:

LOVED IT. Me and my boyfriend both. Once again, there were some plot holes and hand-waves, but all the good parts definitely outweighed the bad. I thought they gave each of the heroes equal time, which prevented it from becoming like most of the X-Men movies which end up being "Wolverine and the X-men." I also approved how there was little "male gaze" in regards to Black Widow, and while she was sexy, they balanced it out with some shots of the male actors. She was also kick-ass, and not just the token female. I concur with everyone who preferred Ruffalo's Hulk, and while I never thought he was that attractive before, Ruffalo's Banner was really hawt.

I didn't see a topic for this game, and search results came up irrelevant sooo....

Anyone else getting this game? For those of you who don't know, it's an MMO by Funcom set in the modern day "real world" where all conspiracy theories are true. You play as a member of one of three secret societies and fight friggin' weird monsters and Lovecraftian abominations. I guess there are no classes, you just take certain skills and build your character however you like.

Here's the homepage: http://www.thesecretworld.com/

The Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Secret_World

And the The Secret World wiki: http://crygaia.net/wiki/Main_Page

Seeing as a I'm big into Lovecraft and I'm loving the whole atmosphere and feel of the game (reminds me of Hunter: The Reckoning), I'm totes getting it. Comes out June 19th.
