Watched the second episode of American Horror Story last night. It was better than the first, and I am now officially intrigued by this show. It's all over the map, but appears to have a method to it's madness. I like it. I even went to the website and "walked" through the house. I like all the effort being put into this.

Doctor Who 'Curse of the Black Spot' was mildly entertaining, but kinda weak overall. Looking froward to watching 'The Doctors Wife' tonight.

Agreed about AHS. This episode had a sense of direction, and focused on fewer storylines than the pilot, which felt the need to introduce EVERYTHING. And it is surprisingly clever. One thing I didn't catch until I read a re-cap was:

Code:
How near the beginning the patient/crazy killer lady said she had a fear of being cut in half, and near the end of the episode, the police said they found her in such a state.

This wasn't made too explicit either. They don't focus on the little connections, which rewards attentive viewers. It definitely does make it feel like there is a real method and vision.

Not doing homework and reading about Occupy Wall Street.  Also thinking about WoW. I know the two of us flirt a lot, but I'm not sure if I'm ready to commit to a serious subscription yet. But the gaming is so good and passionate, I just don't know how I will feel without it.

He has several severed wang computers?

I have ceased being able to follow this conversation. D:

He brought it several times.

He brought his severed wang to class?

Yes. It was really the only thing that brought people back to the class.

Or he just hacked his wang off in the bathroom before class. That works too.

He brought it several times. So either it grew back, he has several wangs, or he was hacking off other wangs.

Watching a documentary during the most boring class I have ever taken.  What the teacher says in two hours of class I read in one hour.  Not only is her lecture based EXACTLY on the textbook, maybe with one or two unique points, but she fills classes with "umm" and "aaaahs".

I had one class that I needed a Red Bull before each day or I would be nodding off all class. He also inexplicably brought an axe to class, and never mentioned it; just laid there on the table. Granted it was a class on American Forests, so I'm assuming he was lumber-jacking before class.

Too bad it's like $115 and Games Workshop is evil incarnate.

Truth. I've wanted to get into Warhammer for years, but the fact that just the rulebook itself is like $60+ never fails to turn me off.

Started playing WoW again. D:

Didn't really get too into the first few times I tried, yet I keep coming back. I can't help but listen to its sweet siren song.

None of these are two player, sorry, but here are some of my favorites:

Settlers of Catan.  Yeah, it's practically mainstream by now but still worth mentioning.  It's well-known for a reason: it's a seriously good game.

Catan is a lot of fun, easy to learn, and pretty easy to set up.

A few others I like are

Zombies: Fun, campy Zombie-themed board game where the players are survivors trying to get to the helipad and killing lots of zombies, or getting killed by zombies, on the way. The board is built out of square cards that are added as the game continues along, so you'll have a different board (theoretically) each time.

Betrayal at House on the Hill: OMG is this game fun. Super easy to learn, quick to play, and has an even campier feel to it than Zombies! You build the board out of cards like in Zombies, but the game takes the randomization on step further by making one or more players the betrayer. Basically, there are two three rule books: one for general game play, a scenario book for normal players, and one for the traitor(s). Everyone chooses on one of the pre-generated characters with basic stats, and they explore the house. After a certain point, the traitor is revealed, and the game proceeds down one of 50 or so random scenarios based on classic horror tropes. The player(s) who is(are) the traitor(s) get the traitor rulebook and find the scenario and learn their objective, while the normal players get their scenario rulebook and learn their objective. The two sides then compete. One of the best board games I've ever played. One warning though, the recent release of the game has most of its parts made out of really shitty cardboard, and they will warp easy. Not unplayable, but the pieces won't lie flat. Not a two-player game unfortunately.

Arkham Horror:  This game is fucking crazy. It took me and my friends 6 hours to play through this game our first time through. It has a ton of rules, and is not easy to learn, but it is FUN. It's cooperative, as in you and the other players are investigators who need to stop one of the Old Ones from the Cthulhu Mythos from awakening and fucking shit up. You all win or lose together (most of the time). You fight monsters, explore a large map, collect items and seal otherwordly gates. It's almost like an extremely simplified Pen and Paper game. You can play it solo or up to like 6 players. Not an easy game, both times I played we barely succeeded, which makes things very exciting.

Outside of Betrayal, these games can be played two player, but are best with a group of 4 or more. But not having such a group doesn't make them not fun.

Went down Zuccotti Park for a few hours and checked out the protest.

How was it? I really want to go, but I keep talking myself out of it.

Four hours into GOW Chains of Olympus this AM, nothing like some mindless fun, almost at end of Dragon Quest IV and Parasite Eve. Little lady started Sakura Wars yesterday after finishing Lunar: Silver Star, I kinda thought she'd go straight into Eternal Blue but she thought different, lol.

I tried going straight from Silver Star to Eternal Blue, but they're so similar that I got burned out. I do mean on coming back to it, it looks like it has all the charm of the original.

I've been trying Black Sigil again. Now that I know what to expect of the encounter rate, I don't mind it nearly as much, except that it's a drain on resources. I might need to grind to power up my characters so I can get through a few fights without needing to heal.

I don't like Aurora much so far. She's too reckless, almost to the point of stupidity.

Watched the premiere of American Horror Story. What a hot mess this show is. I have no idea why they edited it the way they did, but this show is moving at 100 MPH and leaves you to fill in the blanks. Seems like they're trying to pack a ton into the show at once too. Not very spooky, but it has a nice air and ambiance about it. Dunno how I feel about the characters so far either. I'm gonna give this one the season probably, but I'm undecided as of right now.

Just bought this EP too. :D

I'm re-reading A Clash of Kings in order to get to A Dance with Dragons, which I bought at release and its sexy hardcover self has been waiting patiently for me to re-tread stuff I've already read so I can remember who most of these people are. Anyway, still good the second time around. For those of you who have watched the show and loved it and find it hard to inspire yourself to read, try listening to the opening theme. It makes me wanna read every time.

Outside of that, I've been also re-reading House of Leaves. Its more of a mindfuck the second time around, since I'm realizing just how unreliable any of the narrators are. I don't even know if the editors are real or not.

is lost boys that vampire movie?

Yeah, like the only good one, too.

Lost Boys is great, but there were a few other good ones. From Dusk till Dawn is too ridiculous not to be fun, and Fright Night (the original) is so super cheesy that it is also fun. The sequel was subpar, but it had the best vampire ever (the one on the roller skates. He would totally be in my vampire posse were I ever to have one.)
