I've never played any of the AI games, but I did enjoy MK. It was a fun, light-hearted game that you wasn't meant to be taken too seriously, similar to FFX-2 and Steambot Chronicles in terms of tone. From what I read, this game has the option of choosing between two main characters with their own stories, which brings to mind Star Ocean 2, which is a very good thing.

I'm all for including homosexuality in video games... as long as it isn't there simply as titlating fodder for straight gamers. I DO NOT see Mass Effect's lesbian relationship as a step-forward for gay rights, for instance... in fact I see it more as an objectification of lesbianism for the enjoyment of straight males. Maybe it was fairly tastefull, maybe it wasn't even neccessarily unethical, but let's not kid ourselves either.

Which actually brings up a problem I have with Alisha's "interpretations": Fanwank. I find it awfully offensive to the original material when people do this kind of crap. Perhaps that's why I don't like fanfiction in general (especially not pornfics), though there are occasions when a fanwriter can do the original material justice. One of the most frequent and offensive subversions is homo-to-hetero or hetero-to-homo (the latter being more common). It reaches a degree of way-more-offensive when straight females transform straight males into homosexuals (owing to the issue where straight females have no god damned clue what being a male homosexual is like -- I don't either, but then I'm not doing this), but it's ridiculous either way.

Hrist = Not a lesbian.
Aelia = Also not a lesbian.

Fear Effect on the other hand? Go nuts. :P
well it's not like I write fanfics or something. it's just something to help me forge an attachment with a character. but sometimes it backfires on me such as in the case of Raquel in the ending of WA4,and Tear when she blurts out that she loves luke at the end of the game. oftentimes when i see a depiction of love in a rpg between a male and female such as the scene near the end of FFX i feel like a fish out of water. maybee it's partly jealousy since the last time my girlfriend kissed me in public someone threw food at me >_>

I know it might not be much, but Hanako Games's OEL Visual Novel "Fatal Hearts" has a girl/girl ending pairing. I liked it a lot better than some of the girl/guy pairings.

Started playing Yo-Jin-Bo with relcutance, since there's not a lot of non-H visual novels available in English, so I'm hesitant to exhaust my options. I've been enjoying it so far, probably gonna do Ittosai's route first.

Spend way too much time in front of my computer. :P

Outside of that, I don't really have much. I read, but not as much as I should. And I swim for exercise purposes about once a week.

I'm hoping for Atlus, I figure they'd give it the treatment it deserves.

Awesome, can't wait to hear what they have in store for it. I wonder if it'll implement the increased level cap included in the DLC or if it'll stick to just 20 lvls.

Been on a vampire kick and watched "Interview with the Vampire" and "30 Days of Night." I really enjoyed "Interview," and 30 Days was okay. Really glad they didn't change much for it, but then again, the orginal graphic novel was fairly simple to begin with.
803  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: POLL: Fable 2 or Mass Effect on: April 17, 2009, 11:56:55 PM
In Fable 2's defense, it's a very charming game. It's quite humorous, never takes itself too seriously, and easy to lose yourself in. I had a lot of fun with it and definitely don't regret buying it.  Not to say that Mass Effect doesn't have all these same qualities, but just because Mass Effect is a better game in comparison, doesn't make Fable 2 a bad game. Not that I'm accusing anyone of saying this of course. :P

Mass Effect. It's story is amazing. Fable II has a mediocre story, it's more about the experience as a whole. Mass Effect also has a much better combat system. Unless you just hate third person shooters, then Fable II will be better in that category for you, buts its just a hack n slash game basically. Plus Mass Effect is likely to be 40 bucks cheaper. For 20 bucks Mass Effect is a steal.

Even though I love Fable 2 to death, I have to agree. Both games succeed at immersion, but I think ME has an overall better world and mythology to go along with it.  Plus Mass Effect is longer and is almost consistently challenging throughout.

Even if they do up the difficultly for retail, don't expect much. FF games are mainstream games marketed to all gamers many of which will not put up with games they find too difficult to play. That being said, it would be nice if they got a clue and just had difficulty settings like almost every other game does now a days. That way gamers can just chose the difficulty that best suits their play style.

I'm sure FFXIII is going to have a few optional bosses that will be way harder than the "regular", storyline bosses. This is how most games cater to the more hardcore players nowadays.

Seeing as this game seems to be a spiritual successor to VII, I hope Motomu and co implement similar optional bosses like in VII, that would be totally bad ass.

Along with this, I'm hoping for optional, "secret" characters. I think the last FF to do this was IX with Quina. Not that it'll be a game breaker or anything, just something that'd be kinda nice.

Finished the last route of Ever 17 over the weekend. Crazy good game! Was still in the mood for a visual novel so I started Fatal Hearts, and I'm really liking the addition of puzzles. Most of them are clever and not just some slider puzzle.

Also started Lunar 2 and just beat the 1st boss. Dunno what to make of it yet, but I can't wait to see where it goes.
807  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Steambot Chronicles Battle Tournament for PSP on: April 10, 2009, 10:11:58 PM
I loved Steambot Chronicles (hence the avatar), but I dunno about a pure fighting game, although I'm hoping that it'll sell well, cause then that would give Atlus incentive to release the sequel over here sometime, assuming it is ever released in Japan. :P
808  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The most hours you've logged into a game? on: April 09, 2009, 08:46:35 PM
Neverwinter Nights. I found an amazing RP-based PW and spent many evenings on it. Wonderful place with many other wonderful players. I figure this counts as an MMO, so my other two most played games are  P3 (~100 hours my first play through) and SO2 (Beaten it twice, working on my 3rd and 4th times).
809  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Final Fantasy XIII release date revealed!!! on: April 08, 2009, 02:10:25 PM
The scoring is nice, as long as the battles play out fast. Similar to SO4, I can give a crap about the bonus battle gauge because the battles move quickly, but if they take a minute or more to complete, then my motivation for trying to do better will die fast.

Rented and beat FEAR 2 last week and am close to beating Lunar 1. Good god, not to sound stuck in the 90's, but if only more modern games had characters like the ones in Lunar, I actually feel like I'm gonna miss them after I've beaten the game.
