1  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Ipod RPG reccomendations? Also, a question... on: January 29, 2010, 08:19:04 PM
Hard reboot? I thought holding that down until the slider thing comes up was just turning it off as oppsed to tapping the button, which basically just puts it in standby? I don't know about firmware, I'm an idiot about such things. I do know I have the latest model Ipod Touch (64 GB), and I have it synced up with Itunes, so I assume it has the latest hardware?

I did read your review, and the game looks great and I was about to buy it until I read that it didn't have a map. I get extremely frustrated with games with no maps because I get lost all the time. It just seems too archaic for me. I'll have to look into Song Summoner as it's 10 bucks. Not a lot of money, but more than I want to plunk down on a blind buy. I don't know how many songs I have, but this 64 gb Ipod is 80% filled up. Mostly with all types of Metal... Black, Death, Thrash, etc. And I think the kinds of songs plays into the game, right? Or more acurately, the speed and tempo?

Thanks.
2  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Ipod RPG reccomendations? Also, a question... on: January 29, 2010, 09:52:48 AM
Okay, so I swore off Ipod gaming until I recently got one and saw some great looking graphic adventures I thought I must have. So I took the plunge and bought quite a few graphic adventures and RPG's. I bought Underworlds which seems pretty awesome aside from control issues and The Quest which will probably be the first first person RPG I play through in 15 years. I got Vay which seems cool and Zenonia which kicks all kinds of ass. There's a ton more on here... anything else I should consider getting?

Now for my question...

What's the deal with all the bugs in these games? I'd say 5 or 6 of them crash all the time by either freezing the screen or the sound dropping out. The Earthworm Jim I got won't even boot up at all. For some reason I can play it if my Ipod is hooked up to my PC via the little connector cable, but take that off and I can't get it to boot up at all. A lot of people are having that issue, so why is it even on the app store? I downloaded one GREAT looking graphic adventure called Simon And The Sorcerer which is fun as hell to play and is very much like the Discworld games, but after the beginning of the game, it loos up CONSTANTLY. Very frustrating.

I thought it was okay. I loved finding experience just laying around instead of only gaining it in battles. I remember about where I quit playing in the game is about where it started being really vague as to where you were supposed to go next. I didn't play for a few months then picked it up again and had no clue where to head off to.
4  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: 77% for the DS game 'Exit' by RPG Fan on: August 18, 2009, 03:27:03 PM
I don't think Exit is an RPG, and I'm assuming RPG Fan is probably a reviewer over at Gamespot.
5  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Persona 3 portable on: August 18, 2009, 03:24:36 PM
I've always been wanting to get into these games... I hear nothing but good things... BUT... I've yet to play an RPG that had randomly created dungeons that I like.
6  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Laughing Scene from FFX on: August 12, 2009, 01:35:03 PM
I don't have much of a memory. A year or so after I beat a game I forget most of what happened... but I still remember how retarded I thought this scene was.

Lots of female vocalists in folk metal. Karen Gilligan of Cruachan, Swawa of Carved In Stone/Taunusheim, the girl from Arkona. I don't care for that Arch Enemy stuff where girls are asked to join bands if they can conjure their inner Glen benton enough. I love Benton's vocals and death metal, but it seems like a gimmick nowadays to have good looking girls that can do that fronting your band.

Darkthrone "Sardonic Wrath"
Darkthrone "Hate Them"
9  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Super Mario RPG. on: August 03, 2009, 09:19:36 AM
I never got to play this RPG because I sold my SNES just before it came out, thinking that the SNES was done. In fact, I think I missed a few great RPG's that came out at the very end of that systems life. One of the many reasons I don't sell my game systems anymore. Anyway, I downloaded it on the Wii Virtual Console a month or so ago, but didn't start playing it until last night... I stayed up until 4 in the morning playing this thing, it's frigging amazing! I've played all the later Paper Mario and Mario inspired inspired games, all were great, but man... the old 16 bit RPG lover in me REALLY loves this game the best out of the bunch (so far, anyway). Honestly, I haven't played a NEW game this fun in quite a while. It holds your interest, it's charming and has a few totally great gameplay/battle ideas not seen before or since. Did this game ever get a true sequal, or did it just kind of morph into the Paper Mario series? Anyway, I'm 13 years late, but better late than never. I came on here this morning to read any reviews the game might have, and whoever did the review for the Mario RPG (Virtual Console) hit the nail right on the head.
10  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: SO, I'm playing Eternal Sonata and... on: August 02, 2009, 11:07:05 AM
It's been a while since I played it, but I liked it. I remember being to use some "healing arrow" magic or something... you could exploit it and I pretty much never had to worry about game over screens.
11  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Shadow of Destiny on PSP on: August 02, 2009, 09:58:29 AM
Is this game a graphic adventure (point and click?). It kind of seems like it, with maybe some action elements or something. I've always been going to dl it off of X Box Live.
12  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: New Monkey Island on: July 29, 2009, 03:00:04 PM
For those that care, Tales Of Monkey Island (episode 1) is out now for WiiWare. Sure looks ugly compared to the 360 remake of TSOMI on the 360, but it's still fun as hell.
13  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Castlevania Series on: July 23, 2009, 12:00:24 AM
Chronicles is a horrible start to the series, IMO. It's not really similar to the rest of the games, and while some of the other games are hard, Chronicles is insanely hard. Also, playing that N64 game as the first in the series... not a real good way to get into the series. Symphony Of The Night and Super Castlevania IV are my faves.

Skyclad "In The All Together"
Nenia C'alladhan "Nenia C'Alladhan"
All the remastered Van Halen CD's up to and including "5150".
15  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Skies of Arcadia - Should I? on: July 20, 2009, 11:04:41 PM
I recommend it. I loved pretty much everything about it except some of the ship battles that tended to drag on a bit too long.
