Asbel has heterochromia on the cover. You've seen two characters get Heterochromia through the course of the game. Richard's is more subtle, but he didn't have it at the start of the game and it's rather noticeable if you pay attention, and Emeraude. It's obviously Lambda, since you see it in action before you fight her. Just a glance at the cover shows you that it was going to happen; I was more surprised it took so long. I still don't really follow what you're saying. Maybe I didn't spend much time looking at the characters eyes or the cover.

I just beat it earlier today. I have to admit the ending surprised me a bit...
I'm not sure why, given it's spoiled by the cover boxart. Seriously Bamco? Seriously? I'm not sure what you mean...

So you're saying that we need more ending themes like Change Your Way from Persona 2: Eternal Punishment? ...why this song is not longer dammit. ;_; Actually there is a version that is slightly longer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kqqrAwbK3bU&feature=relatedAs for the artist Elisha La'verne, who did the song, I don't think she's Japanese... I'm realllly on the fence with this sort of english-singing fad in Japan. The way we write lyrics seems to be pretty different. When Japanese love talking about the long and sad shadow left by the only hopeful lampost on a cold street (or some shit like that), English seems to try to tell some sort of story sometimes.
Either way. I'm not a fan of lyrical songs. They're too obscure, and it's too easy to tell they're foreign, it's distracting. Persona barely pulls it off, but I'd say it works in context... Except for hearing BABY BABY BABY BABY at least 500 times....
I don't know if you listen to Japanese music regularly or not like I do but it's actually pretty common to have english words, phrases and even an English version of songs. L'arc en Ciel did an English version of Get out from the shell for their album Real and it indeed does have foreign feeling that you are speaking of. I guess it depends on how you look at it as it never really bothered me.

I don't see how anyone could possibly say that FFVII took a step back in story compare to FFVI. It delved into topics VI barely even scratched the surface of. Mega-corporations exerting more power than they should in a government, terrorism, and environmental messages that were pretty fucking heavy coming from a video game in the 90s? Seriously.
It's not even like all the messages smashed the player on the head either (unlike Square's recent shit, which basically explains everything and leaves nothing to the imagination or subtext). As an example, WEAPON is considered the planet's defense system. When they activate, do they go after Sephiroth in the Northern Crater? No, they make a beeline towards areas of concentrated human civilization and start blowing shit up. The conclusion is that the planet can survive meteor but humans were the bigger threat to the planet itself. A good deal of the game's story revolves around humanity's hubris and belief that they are the center of the universe while basically destroying everything they sustains them.
Before Square Enix whored out the series to a bunch of teenagers who make AMVs of the games set to Linkin Park albums, the games relied on a lot of subtext and player thought. VII was basically the epitome of that practice as afterwards the games basically made their messages loud and clear with no real room for debate.
You pretty much explained why I still love Final Fantasy VII to this day. ^_^

Anyone have a small "lolz" moment when you pulled up the area map and saw how... ...well, how zig-zag, up-down, fork-in-the-road-4x, corridor south-east-west-north it was?
(I'm exagerating a bit, but yeah, it's a big, NON-ONE-WAY map)
At least they are trying.

I want it to do well enough to warrant an EP remake, myself.
As do I. I also, and this is a big thing for me, hope they have the feature in the PSP version that was left out in the PS version because we didn't get Innocent Sin to allow for Tatsuya's stats from Innocent Sin to be carried over to Eternal Punishment.
