The smell of the box.
This. I love the smell of eletronics as well, like new headphones plastic (got some Grado i60s the other day, hyped out on that), speakers, CDs, book shelving units (i have 6 mediac/book sheleves in my room, and enjoyed putting them all together). New shoe smells are nice, but only if not riddled with the stench of other people that may have tried them on. Also, Starmongoose, having brazillian in me, I can vouche that we do walk around with kawaii pigs (not really, but i'd like think that's one of our stereotypes ;) ).

http://youtu.be/v_8vgQS3do0Star Ocean 2 - Moderate I was going through a bad time as school when I picked up SO2, so the idea of being whisked away to some exotic planet sounded just dandy. But more than that, I loved how the game took you from a futuristic Earth to a really pretty, nature-filled planet; I think the town music in both Arlia and Mars (this song being from the latter) definitely give off that idea of being far from home, but still peaceful with that. Well, let me place this one down then: Star Ocean 3 - Calm Mind Reflected in the PupilAlso, I'm such an airhead. I didn't realize Nobuo's " Waltz for the Moon" during the ballroom scene is just an arrangement of Julie's theme/ Eyes on Me. My sister pointed this out to me while I was playing the theme and told me I was playing the ballroom theme. I told her no I wasn't it, until it dawned on me while I was making coffee moments later that's it the same theme, just arranged as a waltz. She surpassed her game music superior that day...I taught her well. Also: http://youtu.be/i8sjASyoQXk?t=2m55sThese beats are FRESH. Both tunes in SO3's Aquaria (the town part and the castle theme, Reflected Moon) are stunning and very relaxing. I also have to give the album a major "tip of the hat" for using a Jazz theme as a final Boss theme (Moody Goddess). And yeah. It took me YEEARS before I noticed Barret's theme was just a more up-beat version of Corel's Theme. =/ Julia's theme is everywhere. Ah, that is jazzy, haha. That's great...I don't recall hearing that track. Kind of reminds me of this: http://avideogamemusicblog.tumblr.com/post/26799409118/title-detective-kidds-theme-album-gensoThat arranged Suikoden III album is a real trip...love it.

Starting tomorrow, I'm going to go through my Twentieth Century Music History Class syllabus and brush up on remember the name of important people, names, and add to the syllabus with what I felt was missing from the course. The books we used for the class was: Alex Ross's The Rest Is Noise: Listening to the Twentieth CenturyStrunk's Source Readings in Music History: The Twentieth Century (Revised Edition) (Vol. 7) (Source Readings Vol. 7)There was, of course, a great deal of pdfs we had to read through as well (I filled a 2inch binder easy), so that's going to be a pleasant experience. I still don't understand why it frustrates me to read pdfs/printouts versus reading from a book? It must be something along the lines of easy accessibility and smaller pages versus obnoxious, rough scanned pdfs. On top of my reading, I plan on going through these books as well: Michael Broyles's Mavericks and Other Traditions in American MusicEdward Strickland's American Composers: Dialogues on Contemporary MusicWilliam Ducksworth's Talking Music: Conversations With John Cage, Philip Glass, Laurie Anderson, And 5 Generations Of American Experimental ComposersJudith Tick & Paul Beaudoin's Music in the USA: A Documentary Companion K. Robert Schwartz's Minimalists (20th Century Composers)Paul Griffiths's Modern Music and AfterRichard Taruskin's Music in the Late Twentieth Century: The Oxford History of Western Music Susan Key & Larry Rothe's American Mavericks: Musical Visionaries, Pioneers, IconoclastsJohn Warthen Sturble's The History of American Classical Music: MacDowell Through MinimalismScherer's A History of American Classical Music (With Audio, yay!)Richard Crawford's America's Musical LifeLarry Austin, Douglas Kahn, & Nilendra Gurusinghe's Source: Music of the Avant-garde, 1966-1973Peter Manning's Electronic and Computer MusicMorton Feldman's Give My Regards To Eighth StreetSteve Reich's Writings on Music, 1965-2000Of course, there are plenty of other sources I hope to extract from, but these books are within reach of my book shelf for quick index-searching and topic finding. I do own several compilation recordings of 20th Century music to go along these readings, as well as Youtube. Wish me the best. :)

I am just pluging away on maxing the main stat for each character in FF6. Just got the Paladin Shield. Pretty stoked.
Ah, I'm going through Final Fantasy 6 as well (I'm playing it through the Virtual console though). Just got through the burning house in Thasmas. It's funny, because I'm doing the oposite with this runthrough of the game; I'm trying to get through it fast as possible with no attention paid to leveling up. So far, so good. Little saddened that Lock has already reached level 25... Also, planning on playing through with Setzer, Gau, Strago, and Mog when I finally get full control of my team.

I'm not sure if I like God Hand. Hmmmm.
Think I might consider moving on to Sakura Wars or Xenosaga... idk.
Anyway, wrist is jacked up for some reason, so I'm gonna lay off the console games for a bit. ... Also Dust, because that's also a bit RSIy.
Damn I missed the chance for Sakura Wars and regret it a bit because it was so weird looking. I played some Eternal Sonata. The bosses in this game are usually a tough challenge, defending REALLY means life and death. Stuck at Fugue, might level up one and try again. This game is also pretty unforgiving with merchants -- I've stocked up, but yikes. Oh, last bitter complaint. Camera angles in battles suck terrible butt. I wish there was an anchor for how far or close you want it, because the "far view" is just insanely far and makes it hard to know if you're en route to the enemy. I love the heck out of the battle system, music, and graphics. The story is just....nonsense, but it's pleasurable drama anyways I guess. Polka isn't very lovable though. It's funny, because I stopped caring about everyone except Jazz, Falsetto, and Viola--probably why they were on my final team. In regards to battle, yes, you better be careful with later fights--I'm already thinking of a few boss fights that you might have trouble with. Endure the journey! :)

When I was a kid there was a childrens hour after school on ITV and the girl across the street from me, Sarah, got her name read out because she won the competition I also took part in, and because I was so sad my mum went out and bought me the same prize (a big crayon box) and said that I won too, but they just forgot to read out my name.
Sooooo, the only thing I've ever won I didn't actually win, but probably means more because my mum did something adorable.
That was sweet of her and the same thing I would have done for my younger siblings. Maybe we should do the same for Dice just in case? :3 DICE, DO NOT READ THIS SPOILER TAG. NOT FOR DICE'S EYES--STAY OUT!

Get boyfriend and friends to vote too!! I need a win in my life and I want this win while drawing things. D:
Now that I think about it, the only thing I won in a contest was a big stocking full of toys--I was a kid, shush--from Burger King when they did those winter contests. Also, hope you win! You should post your entry here :3

I have a question! I'm considering getting my son a 3DS for all the help he's giving me with my garden while I'm crutching around. Is the only difference between the regular and XL models the bigger screen? Do the games look stretched, or not as good? I'm just wondering if it's worth the extra $50.
I enjoy my 3DSXl (bought it from my coworker for $140--what a steal!) and probably would agree that the angle of view for the 3ds is a little bit more forgiving. I noticed then when playing Liberation Maiden, which literally requires me to hold it with my left hand--the weaker hand that can't hold stuff straight for too long. Just promise that if you do get your son the 3DSXL, make sure he doesn't play for extended periods, because I don't care what anyone says, the 3dsxl feels really heavy to me (hence poor holding/angel-ing with my left hand) compared to what I used to use before (DS Lite). Eh, maybe because it's just my hands and dealing with heavy stuff and playing piano. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO PERFORMING PIANISTS! ;)
