1066  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: RPGFan Game Journal XX - Sharpened Pencil Midnight Bathouse on: February 08, 2010, 02:11:58 AM
finished growlanser 2 3 times so far. going for all the endings before i get back to growlanser 3.

Which character endings have you've gotten so far? I've gotten Hans, Charlone, Riviera,
and finished the game siding with Wolfgang.
I'm assuming you're getting all the endings to bring them over to the third one?

BUUUUUUUUUUUT, to keep on subject, I finished The Sky Crawlers: Innocent Aces yesterday. Good game. I also beat Mario&Luigi: Bowser's inside story today. The last battle music was almost out of place, like it should have been placed in a Kingdom Hearts game (and yes, Yoko Shimomura was composer here).

Right now, I'm in the process of beating Izuna 2: Return of the unemployed ninja. So far it's fairly entertaining and better than the first, but I don't plan on taking advantage of leveling all the characters and complete the post-game content. I don't even want to attempt it, like the masochistic last dungeon from the first game, with 99 floors and you start at Level 1. Not putting up with that...one step on a demon switch and it's over.

1068  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Graphical realism, can we ever achieve it? on: February 07, 2010, 05:03:37 PM
I agree with your friend. No matter how realistic things might be on a screen, the human brain can simply distinguish between real and fake. What I think though, and it might sound far-fetched, is the mind can be tricked into believe something is real for a short moment and then see right through the trickery. The short time could possibly be a second or two, depends on the individual, and after that we distinguish it's fake.

I only mention this because it's happen to me a couple of times. I would see a cutscene from a game or movie, not very long mind you, and perceive it as real, but the second they start talking or if I see any signs of movement, I can tell it's fake. It takes me a couple of seconds if nothing is moving, but quite immediately if there's already movement occurring at the start of the scene.

I'm sure this has happened to others, or I might be the that gullible.

Sorry for the confusion on that.

And I finally am up to the part where you can buy the fan-service skirt for Reanbell causing her to constantly flash her panties during battle.

I'm debating whether I should even continue or just give the game a 9.5 now and be done with it.

Even if you rated it a 9.5 and it was horrid down the line, I would forgive you and still purchase it. You should just keep posting everything you find grand here and make it an impression thread. :D

Boo-episodes. I'll try this one out and completely skip over the black night, rush and dark chronicles.

Playing a game with your only weapon is your rage.

I didn't like the whole album as much as I thought I would. The Ante Up/Battle Theme was really the only one that caught on for me. :-\

Haha, that was wonderful. Bulletproof wear will definitely hit the shelves in time for Christmas this year.

What? No drawings this time around? I expect drawings of rage when I come back.

Very tempting.
1076  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: How long do you play games a day? on: January 28, 2010, 10:47:37 PM
One to two hours a night, if not less. I'm normally at college all day and hardly get enough free time. My gaming time is on the nintendo DS, so if there are good games afoot, then I'll still continue playing.

Reminds me, I need to finish Castlevania: Lament of Innocence .

Picked up a manga for my friend for his birthday:

How NOT To Draw Manga

Decided to read a couple of pages out of boredom one night before I give it to him. Hilarious. He's going to love it.
Highly recommenced if you have a good sense of humor of Anime/Manga stereotypes and cliched EVERYTHING.

As promised...

For all you Grandia audiophiles who want to give sexual favors nice gifts to Noriyuki Iwadare.

Good read. I've yet to get my hands on the soundtrack, but the listening samples uploaded on the review seems to work with my taste. Was there any other tracks that caught your ear?

Regarding the series and from what I've played... I liked Grandia  I & III, but for different reasons. The music from Grandia I was just great, I loved listening to the soundtrack in and out of the game. I remember III being pretty fun, minus some frustrating points in the game. I know that I wasn't a fan of the game's soundtrack, so I didn't become as attached to it as I did with the first game. I haven't played enough of Extreme and II to spare any constructive, or any, criticism and praise, so I'll just keep hushed up with that. I don't even plan on finishing the 2nd one, maybe I'll sell it or give it away.

I'd like to see a Grandia IV actually... hopefully with a soundtrack similar to the first CD of Grandia's Soundtrack. Amazing CD.

Very fun, and the music was great. One of the much better point and clicks I've played.
