Yeah, that movie was ridiculous.

The only funny parts was seeing everyone's expressions/reactions whenever Bruno was doing something insane.

Nope, my RPGS need to last only 30 seconds long, and we all know what game covers that.

Seriously: 20-40 hours. I don't have time to fetch material to make an item to get an item for a person who will give me an item to make another item to get another and so on. Cut all that stuff out, give me a game I can play and enjoy. Secret characters and endings? I don't want to hear it, especially if the characters are squeaky voiced/twins or the endings is even more anticlimactic. If the ending shows the Deathstar exploding at the end of the game, I'll play 100 hours.

Suikoden V - standard ending:

Something inside of me died that day. You have to get all 108 Stars of Destiny to get the good ending, and the standard ending is really really sad. Even with a guide, I ended up missing star one due to an error in the game (the guy who got turned into a tiger and the little girl suddenly are nowhere to be found after a certain point, even though they are supposed to be findable throughout the game), and the fact that your characters can perminantly die during the tactical battles (though rare)... it's almost like the creators didn't want the player to win.

So, after 100+ hours of shear joy and wonder:

Lyon, the girl who's been your confidant, protector mouthpiece, and even suggested romantic interest... DIES without warning. And the game ends in mourning.

Now, I can understand this for a bad ending, or an ending in which the good ending is really easy to achieve, but collecting all 108 stars is no easy feat, and many are missable after certain points. I remember reading the guide for some of them and thinking, "now, how in the hell would I have known to check this spot to find this guy?"

To say the least, I was misserable for the next few days.

I'm playing through this game right now and well aware of that ending. I'm trying in all my power not to achieve it. I'm pretty sure I can without much difficulty, I mean I got all 108 starts from Suikoden 3 without Game Faqs just fine. I believe it's another chapter unlocked playing as the bad guys was it, and I remember it being so damn worth taking my time ot find them all.

I didn't know my characters could permanently die?! What the heck? I haven't had it happen, but I'm used to the war missions already.

relevant to this topic: Eternal Sonata and Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. FFMQ was just too chipper, I half expected everyone to do a dance number in the end.

The colors.

The game actually reminds me of what Animal Crossing and The Wind Waker would like like mashed together a bit. I liked that title theme on the main site, I want more of that now.

That's exactly what's up. I guess in a very creepy way, you could say I've learned how to brainwash people with this book series. It's like fishing, you get'em with the bait (tits, sex, violence), then you show them what the fuck is up in the real world outside of their tiny little pond.

Or send them to message /b/oards and encyclopedia dramatica. They all contain things mentioned above.

FF8: Zell
Chrono Cross: the "CHA" characters

There's much much more, but I'll just leave it as is.

Oh, also anyone that said "ya know" from any FF.

How very anticlimactic.

I'm at least checking back to hear if they replace the song playing with an orchestral arrangement, and possibly not looped so shortly.

It's Final Fantasy Tactics Origin for the Game Boy Color.

1304  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: USA soccer's doing pretty well. on: June 29, 2009, 10:56:44 PM

In all the hullaballo over all the celeb deaths these past few months, this soccer cup was mostly ignored.  Even by me.  But, man, the US soccer term making it to these finals is awesome.  And even though they lost to Brazil (who are a soccer dynasty), it's said they played really well.  I mean wow, the US team, total underdogs in the sport, actually kicking some ass.  Next year's World Cup should be interesting, methinks.

Being a Brazilian myself, I was laughing the whole duration of the game.

Honestly, Brazilians = Trolls of soccer.

I need to go visit again, they have some awesome coffee and bread. :)
