931  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: Klyde's Steam and Clock Punk Thread on: January 20, 2012, 02:58:00 PM
Today we have something special!!.... A clock/ steam-punkerly tattoo!!!

This was absolutely awesome to get to work on..... when a client brings me a concept I am already passionate about in some respect (gaming tats, anime, et cetera.....) it doesn't really get any better then that :) This job was a true blessing for me.

Now...... Moving on.....

...TODAY BEGINS "KLYDES PERSONAL TRIVIA CONTEST" (as detailed above) where brave souls from across RPGFan Forums unite to guess their little hearts out to win a steam-punkerly creation!

The first contests topic is "KLYDES FIRST CAREER PATH OF CHOICE!"

Before I decided to make visual art my lifelong pursuit and primary source of income I had many jobs.... however I did also have direction as far as to what was to be my career (not just an odd job to make a buck).... Plans however fell through, for various reasons which will be disclosed once the contest has ended.... Now onto the first clue!

CLUE NUMBER 1: This job has a dress code, or appropriate "work attire" if you will....

Stay tuned for more clues and remember your allowed 1 guess per calender day, so don't be bashful! Take advantage of each day to narrow down the possibilities! The ending date for this contest is Thursday Febuary 2nd

You obviously were the first choice actor for Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo, but had to turn it down because the action wasn't hot enough for you. I'll be taking my prize now. ;)

Are we torrenting steak now? I bet the longer it takes to download, the better it tastes.

I'm still waiting for that Car torrent.
933  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Resident Evil 6 Official US Trailer on: January 20, 2012, 01:14:03 AM

In any case, that was a pretty sweet trailer. Another game to look forward to!

Capcom doesn't do small-time genres anymore.  It's action or gtfo.

934  Media / The Soundroom / Re: String quartet music sheets? (video game related) on: January 19, 2012, 10:26:16 PM
It's my final year being with a few friends and I want to be in a quartet with them. I've never been able to express how much I like music from video games, but I think this is an opportunity to show other people. So I'm looking for any video game related music sheets dealing with string quartets (pretty sure It's going to be two violins, a viola, and a cello). I usually like RPG soundtracks (No wonder I found this site lol) I am willing to buy the music sheets if someone can direct me somewhere to buy it.

My thanks.

Hrm....Would you be interested in this: Music from Arcanum

The soundtrack to Arcanum is dominantly string quartet music. This link will lead to both the full scores and parts. This is the first thing that popped into my mind when I saw string quartet music. I would suggest following the same advice as Ramza noted... but something like this requires someone with a good ear and transcription/orchestration skills to achieve something of better taste to the group.***

***I would recommend downloading midi files from vgmusic.com and placing them in Finale/Sibelius and tweaking around the notes and arranging it for a quartet. It's not that difficult and I know you will find something you'll like. :)
935  The Rest / General Discussions / Your First Ebay Purchase... on: January 19, 2012, 02:08:45 PM
Weird topic to bring up but I thought it might spark a bit of nostalgia (or awareness of prodigality) in you guys and gals.

My first ebay purchase wasn't intentional...I was messing around with an ebayer who really wanted a copy of Thousand Arms for the Playstation. I've always wanted to give it a try but had no intention on buying it. I saw a copy of it for 15 (starting bid) and bid on it out of boredom. I noticed someone else wanted it (a lot more than I) and posted .50 over my bid. This continued until I stopped at around $20 (I forget the actual price) when I pretended to not show interest and stop bidding...and at this time I knew this guy, or girl, had bid that .50 cent over me. Knowing myself and other ebayers, I was very aware that they would have added more than just that .50 cents to secure their bid...so at the last 5 seconds of the bid I dropped a 1.50 (something like that) over and won. Needless to say I got myself a copy of Thousand Arms not because I really wanted it...just because I wanted to test how far a buyer would go to achieve their coveted game.

I do not own the game any more, in fact I sold it to one of the members of this board, but now you know the story of my first ebay transaction and the story of how I achieved that game.

Was your first ebay purchase as much an unnecessary war as mine? ;)

Hey, hey, can I just post a picture of ME here for the "amazing pictures" part????

Wait, am I to understand you are this smiley face that has littered the Internets since it's origin?
A new level of respect has been made for you on this day.

Finally came.  Hurrah.  The case is kind of too big and I don't have anywhere good to put it .  Also case window with lights is facing against my cabinet.  Ah well.

Also pleased that I can whore out my browser with 30 tabs open again and not get slowed down.  Huzzah!

Quick glance; thought it was a mini washing machine.
938  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Fan made Terranigma 3D trailer on: January 18, 2012, 10:43:15 PM
Hm. I thought this was some sort of announcement that they were remaking this for the 3DS :/

The trailer is cool considering you made it yourself.

Good stuff. Thought the bubble one was pretty cool too. :)

Don't know if you're down with The Doctor, Lucca, but if so, you're either going to love this or hate it:

Love this!
941  Media / Miscellaneous Games / Re: Endings in games on: January 17, 2012, 05:19:21 PM
Suiko V's normal ending made me die a little inside.

I was not expecting to get all the characters in V, so I decided to see the what the ending was for a Complete run and was met with a happy ending. But because i knew that the ending for V was happy because a complete run...well then I didn't want to come to a tragic end. I rather keep my tragedies in my western lit readings.

Another game that had the worst plot twist of all time was Eternal Sonata (Those who play it know what I'm talking about).
Honestly, Chopin as the final boss? He's perhaps the biggest ninny I've ever witnessed in video games, aside from Mike Dawson from Dark Seed II. I would have given Tri-crescendo $1k for them to make it Franz Liszt, or even better George Sand.
The credits were....

And speaking of ninnies (in case you read the spoilers), Mike Dawson from Dark Seed II. Great ending, or Greatest?
Jack is officially my favorite character in video games, PERIOD.

But let's end on a positive note...

I liked Fragile's ending....anyone else like it?

944  The Rest / General Discussions / Re: The RPGFan Community Grimoire of Social Networking on: January 09, 2012, 12:02:33 AM
Twitter - I use twitter to check up on new game soundtracks/fan releases and check out other game music composers. My tweets range from music of both classical and game origins to retweets of about anything that catches my interest.

Rhythmroo.com - While it may not be a social networking site...you'll get a better idea of my likes and dislikes in music, which is very relevant to the topics I engage in much of my conversations. I like game music...what can I say? [It's currently set on Private until I fix one last item on there]

I want to do this in real life. :|

You want to slap a beard on people? Please tell me that's the first objective on your resumes. ;)
