I still hate negotiation and no one can every change my opinion about how stupid I think it is, but the other quality of life additions (better map, less opaque about the affinity system, party members that are actually helpful) really help it shine. I can see myself liking this one more than SMTIV.

Apparently there's a broken pattern you can use. Comply, Comply, Refuse, Cheat. It's been pretty effective for me. Partners also tell you when to go talk to a certain demon for a surefire recruitment.

They never topped Raidou 2's system, though. Nearly impossible to fail a negotiation thanks to the partner system smoothing things over.

Uh... did anyone here actually play it? :P The only people I know who care about this seem to be Suda fans, everyone else just seems to be kind of ignoring it.

Very well cut demo, they knew just how to hook people in. And they haven't seen anything yet.

Got clarification from Esper. Satsu wanted to help, but he pulled off the extraction himself.

He said, quote, "each block has its own font and its a pain in the ass".

Oh, and he used his own code, he was insistent I clarify that. :P

Heh, I'm pretty sure I applied last time with no dice. We'll see, it'd be nice to see this site have more of its own thing without having to ref back to Gematsu(and siliconera, brr; I do not want to see that shillers' haven get hits ever again.)

By any chance was Satsu of the Hourai High translation involved in the SC extraction process?

Good to know Vermillion is still at it, for some reason I thought that project was stalled. I tried to translate MS as I went along as part of my Japanese practice, but the font in that game is so stupidly compressed that I reckon you need to be fluent to recognize some of the kanji. Some of the more complex ones look like little more than opaque squares.

I imagine that, too, would be an fairly difficult fan translation to pull off. I'm thinking about those dialogue scenes in which one party replies in text and the other in un-subtitled voice.

It was months ago, but pretty sure Esper did it himself using some freeware PS1 tools from RHDN.
Never mind, he did it himself with his own code. :P Man's truly a wonder.

MS will be tough, but compared to TSC? Cake.

The game's only saving grace appears to be the music. The NeoGAF thread is full of giant red flags. It just saddens me that the devs did this to Langrisser, and that Aksys thought it was worth publishing.

And Siliconera shilling is nothing new. Should've seen how hard they were pushing that damn Unsung Story KS.

I'm happy with what we're getting though. Silver Case was impossible to fan translate because the text and graphics were compressed into a single image.

Tell me about it. We extracted the code, and it looked like hell itself. The team has their work cut out for them.

I edited the first part of the script, and found the problem with the LIPS system! (Yaaaay)

Note the new font as well.

The PS2/Wii game is STIV, correct? How much connection is there between games in the series?

Five actually. The only connection is that that game's Harem Protagonist is the nephew of this game's Harem Protagonist.

Otherwise you're likely to maybe get a couple of nods and a wink or two in regards to the previous games at best.


That said, I wonder which will take less time, this project or the SA LP of this game?

Uh, the LP I assume... even if we get all the script in game, there is a LOT we have to tweak, namely the LIPS system.

We haven't even gotten to the battles yet...

I usually don't share my stuff here, but if it wasn't for this site and that Russian version's exposure, this literally would not have happened, so I hope you all enjoy.

The project bounced around to a few other people, and none of them stuck with it, so...

Me and EsperKnight are doing it.

The translation is brand new, from a volunteer at NeoGAF named Nezumi.


(Note: we'll be changing the order to family name last.)









As you can see, the LIPS system works, but it requires some tweaking.





We're about 1/12th finished.
