Traps, yes. I'm curious about the maps too. I've played Generation Xth(and tested the translation no less), and the maps in that were pretty fun.

No need for a DC to reinvent the wheel, IMO. The little things are enough, and I really favor this art style over anime. EO is an exception.

This looks like a trap in action:

Kind of surprised this isn't a hot topic here, news or forum wise...

This game's picking up a lot of import buzz, with good reason.

Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin is being developed by Experience for the 360, Vita, and PC.

They're also known for the forthcoming Vita dungeon crawler Demon Gaze, and the Japanese-only cyberpunk DC series 'Generation Xth: Code Hazard'.

Only the art for this is way more Wizardry inspired than the anime tone of Demon Gaze, thankfully.

This is the first official trailer for Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin, a first-person dungeon crawling RPG coming to the Xbox 360, PlayStation Vita, and Windows in Japan. Developed by Experience, who's best known for the upcoming Demon Gaze, as well as the Generation Xth series, Tsurugi no Machi no Ihoujin places you in the shoes of a passenger on a flight that mysteriously crashes and subsequently wakes up in Escalio, a mysterious town besieged by perpetual night. As the chosen Stranger, it becomes your job to deal with the impending Extinction that looms over the land and take on the Successors, immortal creatures that only you can put down for good.

So yeah, hopefully if Demon Gaze does well, we can get this localized too.

Sort of want Dragon Force maybe?

I think... an RPG that had traditional PD rail shooter bits instead of dungeons/boss fights might've been more interesting.

Just in case CJ_Iwakura didn't drive the point home, or you missed it, I will intentionally echo the Dragon Force love he expressed.

If you are at all considering Dragon Force,  JUST DO IT!! It was, in my honest opinion, one Working Designs finest achievements. Whats more, I still can't say any game to this day really reminds of it... Quite a unique experience it was.

I'm still upset we didn't get the sequel stateside! LoL

As far as Panzer Dragoon goes, I totally agree with your statements Mesh. I will be so bold as to say I didn't enjoy my time with it at all. Its been a LONG time so I can't recall precisely why, but it was the only Saturn JRPG I dropped. Hell, to be honest I enjoyed Albert Odyssey more then PDS. Albert Odyssey wasn't exactly stellar by any means but at least it had charm... Panzer Dragoon had... ummmm.. yea, I'm at a loss... dragons I guess...?

WD didn't do Dragon Force II for a very good reason: it's pretty bad. Less detailed sprites, bland graphics, forgettable music, it's a pale shadow.

That said, it is being fan translated, so...

I'll second Mystaria. It's a wonderful game, though the graphics are kind of dated. (Okay, very)

My list:

Dragon Force: Worth EVERY penny. So much replay value, wonderful game. Aged like fine wine.
Magic Knight Rayearth: Not as rare as it should be, given it was the last game ever for the Saturn.
Shining The Holy Ark: Also dated, but still fun, solid dungeon crawler.
Shining Wisdom: Not great, but far from bad.
Shining Force III: Only part of the story, but it stands alone, and it's a lot of fun.

Avoid:
Virtual Hydlide. Irredeemable garbage.
Panzer Dragoon Saga: Wait, put down the pitchforks. It has its charms, but it is NOT worth the asking price. I vastly prefer the Xbox title.
Put the money you would waste on Saga towards Dragon Force and get eight times the fun out of it.

I sometimes think Atlus quietly took that project out back and put a bullet in its head.

Unless Intelligent Systems is making it, Atlus are way too busy to be involved, and it's a huge financial risk to put ANYTHING on the Wii U.

Gotta start somewhere. Fantastic news, and I'm overjoyed to see Atlus acknowledge SMT1. Time to find me an iOS device.

I'd rather see this fail so a harsh lesson is taught.

I thought that's what the Class of Heroes 2 localization kickstarter was for? (Well that, and not asking for half a million for a bunch of feelies to a mediocre game that's already been outdated in Japan.)

I enjoyed CoH2. That's more than I bet will be said of this game. And at least Vic had an idea of what they wanted to do, not concept art and big names.

Also the links in your sig are broken.

Just like the Atlus MB. :(

The game is being made regardless. They want 600k just to put it on PC.

I'd rather see this fail so a harsh lesson is taught.

But it's going to make it, that's clear at this point.

I hope for the backers' sake that they don't get as played for fools as I expect they will.

I'm both stunned and a little saddened that this turned around so fast. You shouldn't be able to earn 600k just off name recognition when the devs at the helm clearly have little to no idea of what they want to do. The director didn't even know if it would be 2D or 3D when asked during the reddit AMA.

I was with the list until #1. I think P3P is a pale imitation of the original, since it removes so much of what made the original a classic.

Anyway, I like it besides that. I think Growlanser IV certainly deserves a mention, and possibly Crimson Gem Saga.

I've heard Digital River are evil incarnate, but screw it, JP preorder cancelled, I'd rather understand it.
(I'm not giving DR my main card#, no way.)

I love these weapon stories.  They're like an "dark mothergoose".  Crafty, usually sad or completely backwards in moral.

Digging the box art.... no news for here yet, huh? :(
Here's hoping!

Since Square registered a Drakengard website for hte US, it seems kind of a given to be localized.

And sorry Ramza, not paying $200 for that LE. No way. Not worth it.

I've known Robert for a while, and Soul Hackers is one of his favorite RPGs ever.

That should give you enough faith in their works.

I was pretty shocked they put her like that in the animation without giving her a top. One stray breeze away from an OAV release.

Put in my preorder yesterday.

Someone talk me out of getting the anniversary box.

Get it. Tell me how that chiptunes album is. :)

Play-asia hasn't even put it up for preorder yet. I make no guarantees, but if I can get it for sub-$100, I'll strongly consider it.

The trailer subtitled, c/o yours truly. I made the translation a little Nier-esque.
