Actually, the Sega CD games are by far the hardest, especially Eternal Blue.

The Cave of Trial in Silver Star Sega CD is a nightmare. It's a cake walk in Silver Star Story.

Eternal Blue, one word: Borgan.

He's a joke in the remake.

And yet still no Growlanser PSP. :(

I have to call you out on this.  Do you always have to turn every Atlus thread into a complaint about the lack of Growlanser?

Yeah, I'm not running into every Nintendo related thread I'm seeing lamenting that Mother 3 isn't coming out here or that Earthbound appears set to never appear on the VC. I WOULD like both of them, but there's no use dragging down every thread by complaining.

That's a little different. Mother 3 was released for a dead if not dying system. The PSP is in its prime right now, and Growlanser PSP looks beautiful.

They've released some downright awful games for the PSP in comparison.

I dub her Hinata, personally.

As much as I loved P3 on its own, you can't deny, P3F is cute as a button.

May get on the cheap. There's also some neat tidbits of fan service, like seeing the teacher that Kanji fell in love with.

And one of P3F's new social links looks JUST like Izanami from Persona 4.

Could anyone give me a hint how to fuse Fiends in Devil Summoner 47? Just a hint that would point me in the right direction, that's all.

If I recall, there's a 1/8 chance of pulling it off on a full moon.

I always thought it was weird they didn't advertise KOS-MOS in SRT OG Saga more. That's practically a selling point to Xenosaga cultists.

I'd imagine there was more bullshit tied up with SRT though, or at least that sounds like the case. WHy else release the RPG on the DS, but not the PS2 port?

There was. I'm sure Atlus had every intention of localizing the PS2 OGs(which is what I've heard). Blame SCEA. I hear it was because they had to dub the whole game, and they didn't have the budget for that. Too much cost, too little return.

What do I have to sacrifice to get us Growlanser in the US? Name it, done.

Go back in time and get more people to buy Growlanser 5.  That's about the only thing you can do.

Easier said than done when Atlus only printed up like 10,000 copies of the game with no intentions of ever making more...

If I recall, it sold barely 3,000. It was pretty much a flop.

They threw Growlanser to the wolves. Worst game in the series, least opportunity for success.

Or convince them to skip that so they can just get a fresh start with Grow1 on the PSP, one of the two.

Growlanser 1 would be perfect. It's a much better game, uses the (vastly superior) original combat system, and has a great story.

And the PSP needs more strategy RPGs, so it's win all around.

Unfortunately, I've heard it said that it's not coming here because of some coding issues with the original code(see also: Devil Summoner PSP), which is heart rending if true.

It's kind of... okay, VERY sad that we're more likely to get Sting JP games than Atlus ones.

My perfect Persona: The ergonomic gameplay/menus in the remake, the soundtrack of the original, the old cutscenes, the old town map, and the localization of the remake.

Also black Mark. The original Mark's hat scares me.

I agree except for the cutscenes and map. I like the new ones, and the old map can stay gone. Ech.

I'm kind of irked at how Borderlands keeps getting classified as an RPG.

FPS with stat allocation /=  RPG

If Growlanser PSP had been localized, it would almost certainly be my GOTY. Growlanser 2 is an amazing game, and I hear 1 is at least close to it.

As it stands, probably Devil Summoner 2: Raidou etc.
839  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Your Top 10 RPGs of the last decade? on: January 03, 2010, 04:14:19 PM
Does anyone else find it weird when people fill up more than half of a "top ten games" list with games from the same series?  Given that this is supposed to be the Top Ten games for ten whole years, the fact that people are listing 3+ SMT titles is kind of off-putting.  I mean, I like them as much as the next guy, but I feel like there should be some variety in a list like this.

I'm just giving an honest answer.

As am I. Nocturne and DDS both trumped most RPGs released this decade.

I consider Nocturne the best RPG ever made, even.
840  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Your Top 10 RPGs of the last decade? on: January 02, 2010, 09:16:37 PM
In some order...

Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne
Persona 3
Persona 4
Digital Devil Saga
Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines
The Witcher
Devil Summoner 3 (Better story than 4, IMO)
Suikoden III
Etrian Odys-...scratch that, Growlanser 2 definitely.
Shadow Hearts: Covenant
