I pray Atlus USA won't let us down.

But if they do, I'll take ANY publisher.

I love classic Growlanser gameplay.

And Heritage of War was not it.

I echo the sentiment that Calintz was the best thing about MC1.

The gameplay was a nightmare, but it had great audio/visual design, and a good story.

If MC2 fixes the gameplay, it could be a great game.

I don't recall Calintz's actions at the plot twist being reprehensible? He was certainly one of the only competent VAs.

I actually bought this because it was basically Namco X Capcom portable, and it even brought along their protagonists(Reiji & Xiaomu).

Counter-point: Maya Amano from Persona 2. Adult protagonist, and an excellent one.

And I enjoyed Growlanser II because the main character had so much personality.

Definitely getting Muramasa as soon as it comes out. I loved Odin Sphere(complicated as it was). Odin Sphere is more of an action RPG, but Muramasa seems like straight action.

Hardly a bad thing, since Odin Sphere's was enjoyable, and Muramasa seems like it'll be even better.

I'm getting tired of silent protagonists. I remember RPGs more fondly when the lead character has, well, character.

Growlanser II and Puzzle Quest(of all things) are good examples. The protagonists don't just have personality, if the situation calls for some decisive action, then they don't mince words.

Wein especially.

Dagurreo in FFIX is one of my favorites.

Also partial to Sumaru City in Persona 2. Both because of the music.

Vane in Lunar has always been a cool place, flying or not.

So supposedly Idea Factory developed this.

Shouldn't that send up red flags across the board?

I'm surprised Namco-Bandai are okay with this, but they wouldn't approve Namco X Capcom, which was actually fun.

I have the Oracle of Maiya script and the fan-patched Innocent Sin, and as far as I can tell, the difference is as simple as translation vs localization. The former is fine for reading, but the latter is best for playing.
926  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: I give up... NISA is making me sick of localizations.... on: March 24, 2009, 02:27:23 AM
Aksys have released some pretty awful games, but they brought us Castle Shikigami 3, which gives them a lifetime reprieve in my book.

Anyway, not sure what's up with NISA as of late, but they're hit and miss. Prinny had a wonderful localization.

Maybe they just have  B-list teams doing all these screwed up projects while their A-listers get the stuff like Prinny and Disgaea(and Sakura Taisen V, I hope).

I approve.
928  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Any news on an Ar Tonelico 2 recall? on: March 17, 2009, 10:54:30 PM
I'd rather have a delayed game than a buggy game.

Atlus was willing to delay their games' release dates on several occasions.

If I recall, Ar Tonelico 2 had been delayed to begin with. Would an extra month or so really have made that big a difference, as opposed to the damage this has done to their reputation?
929  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Any news on an Ar Tonelico 2 recall? on: March 14, 2009, 02:25:22 PM
If this is a bug that NISA can fix, then I'd say they're obligated to fix the problem and offer their customers a proper solution.

I started with Persona 'Revelations', and I've played(and loved) every US released game since, and a few of the imports(Soul Hackers, Innocent Sin).

I agree with Eusis, though about demikids, the japanese devil children games were substantially better than the two demikids we got in the states from what I remember. they had like, storylines and stuff.

I thought the DemiKids games had a good story. Nothing like Nocturne or DDS caliber, but better than I expected.

Nocturne's my favorite. I never actually beat it though. I got up to the last dungeon, and could beat it any time I wanted, but I guess, subconsciously, I just don't want it to end.

Though, I never DID do the Amala Network...

You need to do that right now, especially the Amala.

All the best story segments are in the Amala.
