(ノ°ロ°)ノ ︵ ┻━┻
Calm down.
┬─┬ノ( º _ ºノ)

The game never existed out of a couple of trailers and mock-up gameplay vids. Nothing shockingly upsetting really.

This line though... this goddamn bullshit of a statement by Nomura...
but we are doing our best to bring information to the fans as quickly as we can. Your patience is greatly appreciated.

After multiple playthroughs, I think I found the problem I had with the demo.

The inability to lock on targets.

More often than not I find myself holding my shield up in random directions, failing to block at times. Same goes for parrying. Also, when your pawn grabs an enemy off screen and you start to swing your sword at nothing before landing a hit on the enemy, killing the smooth pace of battle.

I know that this is a design choice, and that the game focuses on group encounters and fast paced combat in which, at some instances, locking-on might prove disadvantageous. But it also gives the battle system a clumsy, messy feel to it, especially for someone such as myself who prefers to take on enemies one at a time.

I see no harm in adding something optional like a lock-on system. A win-win situation for those who prefer using it and for those who don't.

Regardless, I'm still excited for the retail version.

I'm surprised so many people were getting owned so hard, I keep seeing online how people are complaining of the lack of tutorial. I smacked the gryphon around like nobody's buisness, the chimera was much more difficult.

I think you guys are getting soft from all your rpg gaming, your losing feel for them good ole action games.
What? I thought it was impossible to die.

I can't pinpoint the reason, but going through the demo I couldn't shake off the feeling that something was missing. Perhaps the gameplay was a bit too chaotic and messy?

I'm still a bit excited for the final game though. I just hope that whatever was bugging me in the demo won't be present in the final game.

Still waiting for the announcement of a new HD title.

Meanwhile, listening to this awesomeness: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ov62FfHk9c0

After reading Neal's and Dave's reviews, I couldn't turn a blind eye to this particular title like I always do to these games. This is the first RPGM game I've ever sat through from start to finish, and I loved it! So, thanks a lot guys :D

But of course, I should really be thanking the team at Freebird Games for those splendid 4 hours I've spent with To The Moon. And even though I found the gameplay aspect to be pretty weak I appreciated the exclusion of unnecessary battles.

Do I have to say anything about the story at this point? I thought it was intriguing, down to earth and heartwarming. I liked how the writer mostly opted for giving you enough hints to form your own conclusions rather than explaining everything in full detail. And the soundtrack is definitely an excellent fit. One other thing that really added to the effectiveness of the story was the attention to some rather subtle details. Like the movement of River's eyes, for example.

All in all, I highly recommend it. It's only 4 to 5 hours long, so it's a nice break from Skyrim or Dark Souls or whatever EPIC game most of us are playing right now. Besides, each one of these very rare occasions when a game tells a worthwhile story should be celebrated by all gamers.

I think it's starting to get out of hand, personally. Is this really necessary? Is P4 that huge in Japan? How did P4 get so much more popular than P3?

I'll accept this because it's only in Japan, but if it keeps going after the monthly magazine, the fighting game, the anime and the port to the Vita, then they'll just be killing one of my favorite games.

umm... because it's the better game?

But this milking shit needs to stop ASAP before it gets too ridiculous...

That don't mean I ain't buying P4Vita and that other fighting game though :P

It's really hard to imagine that SS will top TP for me. TP just got everything perfect in my book. I just recently replayed most of it (all but the last two dungeons), and It's just unbelievable how well it's aged. Especially since I had been playing nothing but 360 HD titles for the past year. I had just come off of Deus Ex. Technically this is a GameCube game???!!!! I've never played the gamecube version, but honestly, it kicks the crap out of most 360 games, even now. It's my perfect game. Just the right amount of gloomy darkness, the right amount of emotional drama, the right amount of uncanny bizarreness, I love that game like no other. SS looks like it may hit gameplay perfection, but from what I've seen it just doesn't "feel" much better than Wind Waker, which was just OFF for me. Also, it doesn't help that I've just been playing Xenoblade (god I hope I can finish it before Zelda comes out!) which is quite possibly the biggest, grandest game ever made. Every locale in Xenoblade could house about 4 Zelda Hyrule's in it.They say SS will be immense, but I doubt it'll feel like it after Xenoblade.

I'm sure what Xenoblade has in quantity, Zelda SS will make up for in quality.

I'm really enjoying the soundtrack, this track has to be my favorite so far.
Indeed. The soundtrack is top notch.

Useless bonus if you have a XIII save and info about how equipment works:

Lots of new info here:

Seems like you can change any choice you've made at any point in time through the Historia Crux, which is convenient. But I have a feeling Live Trigger is nothing more than an afterthought rather than a fleshed out storytelling device.

The new Crystarium, which is pretty much X's sphere grid now, is definitely sounding better than XIII's, that's for sure.

I've only played the game for 8 hours. Dammit why can't I have more free time.

And when I was ready to fight the Gargoyles the two people I've been cooping with destroyed 'em in less than 20 seconds. I couldn't even touch the second gargoyle :(
26  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Dark Souls on: October 15, 2011, 06:18:18 AM
I just started the game as a Wanderer (bought the LE). I'll begin playing seriously in a few days though since I'm too busy right now.

Any advice for a newcomer?
27  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Atlus Opens a New Teaser Site (Persona 4 related?) on: August 31, 2011, 08:32:45 AM
What awesome news to wake up to. P4G has more events and probably new locations, 1.5x the voice acting, more anime movies, new personae, a new character AND a feature we, the fans, were demanding! (I have no idea what that could be but I'm sure it's gonna be great). That is more than I was expecting.

Both this and the fighting game are day one.

And good to hear that P5 is no longer in pre-production (Hopefully the MC of P5 is a female this time around). Can't freaking wait for this one.

Is anybody else spending a LOT of time on sidequests? Im not complaining in one bit, its actually fun to explore the world while looking for Hand Rabbits. lol

I'm still near the beginning, but I think I ended up doing side quests for several hours. I love this game.

The side missions in the first 5 hours or so (I'm only 6 hours in) consisted of nothing more than hunts and fetch quests. They were fun, but only because the gameplay in general is fun.
29  Media / Single-Player RPGs / Re: Xenoblade on: August 26, 2011, 03:02:15 AM
hmm... the soundtrack is actually starting to grow on me.

Also, switching to Dolphin. With 3X the native resolution the game looks incredible.

Edit: It seems that the PAL version is locked @ 25 FPS by default. I changed the limit to 30 FPS and the game is much better this way.

My wish that I know will never be granted is SMT: Nocturne for Vita.

That would be a much more exciting announcement than P4Vita. But still, I'd rather ATLUS stop this whole porting plan and focus on a proper sequel or maybe a new spinoff within the SMT universe.
