Beta servers are back up. Anyone interested in joining Asmodian legion on Siel, send me at tell on Belatrix.

That's awsome news. And no the song in the video is not from the game, its the typical trash techno people like to set gaming videos to.

Here's a little video I think you'll find interesting.

It only colors certain parts of the specific peice. Its recolored in real-time, there's no other editor, just right click on the dye bucket and apply to armor peice and your done. Effects may vary depending on the armor in question. I find that the monochrome or bland armors usually show off the colors well, while more vibrantly colored armors seem to recolor the highlights only. Anyway if you dont like the effect, you can purchase dye remover which is applied in the same way. Likewise, you have a skin swap NPC also that you can use to exchange the skin on armors and weapons with skins you might like better or more attached to.

The armor dye is bought in the capital cities, so for us it'd be in Pandaemonium. Its in the collection of high end shops along the boulevard that runs infront of the arena. Its about 1K kinah for one item and they are consumed upon use.

Per request, here are some screenshots of my character currently as well as some other shots in-game.

This armor is actually kind of plain metallic gray with purple highlights but I added some blue armor dye and was very happy with the results. You can't dye weapons but you can use it on shields, though its more of a highlight.

This is flying toward the Sky Temple floating in the middle of Musfel Volcano.

This is gliding back to Iralsig Village after jumping from path up to rim of said volcano.

This is an island in the Abyss know as... wait for it... "Sword Island"... and yes that's a huge fucking sword.

Here is a rare boss that spawns on the island. He's alot harder than he looks, but he drops some really nice rare weapons and rings.

Here's the island in the Abyss that features a crashed Balaur battleship, if you see these during a seige, run the hell away.

Here is a siege going on in an Elyos fortress. My fellow Asmodians are trying to kill the Guardian of the fortress.

He's a big boy to be sure, and is actually the same form high ranking PVP players can transform into, albeit more player sized than building sized, but still larger than normal.

Speaking of bosses, here's one of the wandering level 40 World King-level bosses that just happened to be taking a stroll outside a level 20 area. Hilarity ensues...

Mini-instanced dungeon location for a storyline mission. Its pretty obvious its set in the Abyss.

Here we have a party-sized King boss damn near the center of the earth in Taran Lava Cavern. The game doesn't have many instances yet, but there are several elite open world dungeons that are MASSIVE undertakings.

This is me and one of the guys I met playing. He's from Singapore, and currently in the largest legion on the server. You can tell by the armor... sick.

925  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Aion discussion plus Q&A on: June 20, 2009, 04:59:43 AM
Oh what side are you on Placebo? I have an Elyos from the previous beta on Israphel but will be focusing on the Asmo for this test since were supposed to be evaluating the westernized dialogue and quests. Besides the Elyos all run like they've been butt-hurt. What are your impression so far?

Also those of you debating preordering, you can always cancel after the fact if you don't like what you see, and preordering online doesn't cost you a cent before it ships, and those can be cancelled also. Anyway I highly recommend you check it out, at least for something new in this dry spell.

That's fucking hilarious because I did that too. The localized voices aren't in and it's the same problem with the Chinese client. Just watch Enter the Dragon a few times and when you remember what a badass Bruce Lee was it's no so bad. Lol.

Looks like I can't hop on the beta till later this morning. Work sucks. Probably make my toon on Asmo side this morning and play Sun-Mon.
927  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: Aion discussion plus Q&A on: June 19, 2009, 08:17:05 AM
Well they are supposed to be having an open beta closer to retail, but for access to the closed beta events you need to either pre-order or nab one during a website giveaway. My best advice is to keep checking the official site http://www.aiononline.com/us/ or AionSource http://www.aionsource.com/.

If anyone has pre-ordered and gotten into the beta events, please speak up so we can meet up in game. I'll post my details here when the servers go live.

UPDATED - This weekend's beta event includes the Elyos side also, level is capped at 10 since they want us testing the localized content in the starter areas but they will be saving the characters through all the events leading up to open beta.

Usually I tend to ignore newbie trolls, but it's early am and I'm bored at work, so I'll bite. The fact that your lauding LoTRO and AoC have already stripped any credibility your opinion might have. Two of the most bungled MMOs in recent memory. Have you even stepped out of Altgarde? Probably not since your claiming the game is trying to copy WoW, which is pretty amusing since the only similarities to WoW Aion has are concepts Blizzard borrowed from MMOs dating back to Ultima Online. If you had seen much of the game you might have a more compelling argument. Have you done any Infiltration, or for that matter been to the Abyss? Have you participated in a fortress seige or even delved into the crafting or shop system? Judging from your post I doubt you've done much if any group activities in the game. If you want to be a productive member of this community you best back up your opinions with some specifics instead of throwing your opinion around without some form of justification or reasonable debate. So let's have some anecdotal evidence please, I'm dying to hear more. Also just to inform you, C-Aion isn't the version well be getting here as it's neither distributed nor managed by NCSoft. Well be getting ver. 1.2 or higher which alters the gameplay signficantly.
929  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / Re: FF XIV!!! on: June 04, 2009, 07:54:53 AM
FFXI is NOT friendly to solo/casual play, even with everything they've added. There's still a huge barrier to entry, and there's no way to remedy it. Hopefully they "do it right" with XIV.

Indeed. My main concern is that as the game is being developed in Japan, is the needs and input of the western markets going to fall on deaf ears like they did FFXI. As much as whiners tend to propogate in MMO forums, i'd like to actually see a REAL FFXIV NA forums with devs who actually care about this audience and not cater to just their native country. After seeing the amount of work Blizzard and NCsoft does with their MMos, it really makes the content updates to FFXI look like a joke and I hope that we're not going to see history repeat itself. Square Enix has alot of potential to capture a significant portion of the MMO market if they get with the times, but I wouldn't hold my breath. I'm cautiously optimistic, but I think from past experiences with the company i'm not jumping into bed with them because the trailer was pretty.

Just got my pre-order keys also. FYI If you have pre-ordered in a GameStop store, go there and ask for your pre-order box. Apparently NCSoft sent out a bunch of DVD keepcases with a plastic beta access card.
