Dethklok - Skyhunter

The new Dethklok album is as good as always.  It's a bit more epic than the previous two, but still brutal.

Assassin's Creed 3 is still pretty good, but it really needed another few weeks of debugging.  I can live with the audio/visual quirks, but I've experienced several bugs that have prevented me from finishing missions.  I've had two instances of being unable to complete an escort mission because my escort got caught in a blob of people and wouldn't move.  I had an equipped sword vanish in the middle of combat, which was odd.  I was riding a horse and tried to jump a fence.  It got stuck in a stray pixel or something; it wouldn't budge and it wouldn't let me get off.  I had to fast travel to get free.

The worst one was when I had fought a lengthy battle to free a fort.  My last objective was to kill the captain of the fort.  As I was fighting him, he just vanished into the ether.  It didn't count as a kill either, so I had to leave and let the place reset so I could do it all over again. :(

It's a good game when it is working properly, but I don't think it would trump Assassin's Creed 2 even if it were completely functional.

Assassin's Creed 3 is fucking awesome.  It's like a hybrid of AC2 and Red Dead Redemption, my two favorite games of this console generation.

All the mentions of Legend of Mana in this topic the other day filled me with the urge to dust that bitch off and give it a spin.

It's still fantastic.  I've got a fondness for the lighthearted, witty banter and charm this game has...well, that it has when it isn't revolving around brooding, bejeweled cunts and dead furries.

The labyrinth is GREAT for low-level characters.  If you get caught up in a big zerg rush, you can score a fucking ton of loot and some solid experience.
36  The Rest / General Discussions / It's Bob Ross' birthday, motherfuckers. on: October 29, 2012, 10:01:48 AM
If you don't know who Bob Ross is, I assume that you either live across the pond or were raised in your attic, cut off from all outside contact, and fed through a slit in the door because your parents were ashamed of your horrifying deformity.

I used to watch his show quite a bit when I was a kid.  It always amazed me how fast he could throw together a nice looking landscape painting, and do so while using his oddly soothing, patient voice to explain exactly how to follow along and do it yourself.  When I taught guitar many years ago, I tried to teach in a similar manner...emphasis on tried, because my natural impatience always won out in the end.

Make love to it.  Caress it.

Enslaved - Death in the Eyes of Dawn

Holy shit, the new Enslaved is fantastic.  2012 has been a great year for metal. \m/

I am playing two weird ass games at the moment.

Asura's Wrath:  This game is not very fun to actually play, but it's oddly compelling.  It's literally all flash and no substance, but the flash has got me hooked.  I've never played anything like this before, and that's a rarity in this day and age.  I dig it.

El Shaddai:  Man, the look of this game is impeccable.  It's beautiful at times.  It's too bad this art style is shackled to one of the most mind-numbing action games I've played in a long time AND shackled to some of the most nonsensical story bullshit I've ever come across.  I played it for just over an hour, and I have a feeling I won't be going past that point for a while. :P

I'm currently fucking around with Saints Row The Third.  It's early, but so far I prefer Saints Row 2 in every possible way.

Can't get enough of the new Paradise Lost album, man.

Paradise Lost - Solitary One

This game is already far more fulfilling than Diablo 3 was.

I'm trying to build a decent frost embermage at the moment.  I'm not sure I'll be able to mimic a good old D2 meteorb sorceress completely, but I'm damn sure gonna give it a try. :P

I think I finally decided on a character, and it ended up being the one I thought I would like the least.  Sniper-speced Zero is pretty damn beastly in the early going.

Looking at the skill trees, I'll probably be doing the siren thing first this time around.  Axton looks okay though, I'll probably give him a shot pretty quickly.

Fuck that robo-ninja, though.
