3421  Media / Multiplayer RPGs / World of Warcraft OH MY GOD CURRENT EVENTS THREAD on: April 21, 2006, 07:17:05 PM
Well, we moved our old Shadowsong characters to Norgannon earlier in the week, and we've been giving them the lion's share of our time, so don't get too worried about not being there...because we aren't either. :P

I bought the Sabbath live album "Live Evil" this afternoon, because Dio is greater than Ozzy.
3423  Media / The Soundroom / For the Priest fans out there.... on: April 19, 2006, 05:47:41 PM
Most of Priest's first few albums (barring the first one)  are quite strong lyrically.  They don't really start to decline until "Hell Bent For Leather" and "British Steel", where they first start to get in the sci-fi/biker rut.

That robe came from Razorfen Downs.  We need to go there, because there's some good warrior shit that drops there. :P

I got my sexy Robes of the Lich tonight...and partied with an incredibly awesome group.  We're planning on turning it into a full-time thing, and it just so happens that there's a spot for a tank.  If only I knew one. :P

I bought Judas Priest's newest DVD, "Rising in the East".  I'm still reeling from the awesomeness.  When I say it's the best DVD I've ever seen, I'm not exaggerating.  Better than any of Maiden's recorded performances, even...and that includes "Live After Death". :P

So tonight, I ran into the first truely elitist asshole I've partied with in the game.  It was such a pleasure kicking him from the group, alone in the middle of Horde turf. :P

As a result, Dade and I, along with two other good folks, four manned the SM Library and made it our bitch.

Fuck yes.

But, man the controls. Equipment swapping is awkward and I don't think I will ever get used to the cursor not reseting to attack for the next character after I've entered a comand for the one before him.

Yeah, I'm not fond of the menu system on this game.  The cursor moves slowly when you're scrolling through items, it takes way too many button presses to use medicine, etc.

It says a lot about the quality of the game when that's the only complaint I have.  Besides the first four hours being boring as hell, that is. :P

My favorite part of the whole thing is the "bad" ending, which was just completely hilarious to me.  I'm not sure I want to go back and get all the stars, because that ending was satisfying enough. :P

This might be old news (I haven't been keeping much of a finger on the metal pulse as of late), but in the expectation that at least one of you other metalheads hadn't heard this either:

Judas Priest is doing a concept album about Nostradamus.

This could either be the greatest thing ever or the worst.  I don't forsee much middle ground. :P

Last night was the first time I've watched the show this year...and I picked the worst night possible to start.  Queen has been one of my favorite bands for fucking forever, and none of those singers even came close to doing those songs any justice.  That guy who massacred "We Will Rock You" should be drug out into the street and shot.  The bald motherfucker who sang "Innuendo" should be flogged.

The chick who sang "Bohemian Rhapsody" gets a thumbs up from me, though.  It took balls to get up there and sing that. :P

I also didn't put this in the Music and Books section because I thought it belonged here since it's about all of these console games.

You thought wrong.

That sounds pretty interesting, even though I'm not really a fan of orchestral VGM.  I wonder what they're gonna play from WoW, though.  I've been playing it regularly for the last month, and I can't so much as hum a tune from that game. :P

Now that I've been abandoned by the people I play with, I've been less and less inclined to quest and grind and more inclined to do nothing but run instances.  I should have been doing this all along, because it's great fun.

I ran Scarlet Monastery Sunday night (save for the graveyard), and proceeded to motherfucking rack up on caster gear.  The fact that there were no other cloth wearers in the group helped considerably.  Illusionary Rod, Mantle of Doan, and Whitemane's Chapeau, all in one night.  Can't complain about that. :P

Tonight I ran Razorfen Downs for the first time.  I enjoyed doing this one, even if it was a pain in the ass for a non-mounted player to get to easily.  And it was rather easy:  we ran it with four people, none of whom were out of the level range. :P  Got a semi-sexy Deathmage Sash out of it.  I was hoping to see Robes of the Lich drop, but some gay plate helm dropped instead. :P

Holy fuck, Suikoden V is fantastic.  I don't think I've said that in this thread yet, so there it is. :P

Code:
I just finished completing the Big Hole and recruited Eresh.  Next on the agenda is a little levelling session before the next army battle.

And...I just traded a unit of gold and silver to the trader for 900,000 potch.  I swear, that had to be a bug. :P

Awesome news.  This is far and away the game I'm looking forward to the most this year.

If I could afford to casually buy something like that, holy shit I would. Sounds good to me. :P

Indeed.  If you got the cash, then why not?  There's better things out there to get riled up about.  There's way too much foie gras in that thing to make me consider eating one, though. :P
